Discovered an article on the news whilst doing some Teutonic plates research for a school project and found this specifically interesting article which claims that the Eurasian and Arabian plates that just so happen to meet directly in Kurdistan are breaking away. Now I know that events like this usually take thousands of years but I’d like to know everyone’s opinions on this, and also to see if there are any geologists in here who may be able to provide some further insight into this?
Short question, many of us elewi kurds get called Turkmens or our family tell us we turkmen (from khorasan). Where does this come from? Is it complete bogus or does it have a source of truth.
From what I see on dna tests we are fully Kurdish.

With the new transitional Syrian government, how does the situation in Rojava look, seeing that a bunch of inexperienced bafoons have been put in place to govern a war ridden country. Does greater autonomy, or even federalism seem likely, even with great resentment from the turks and the Syrians?
Furthermore, in Iraqi Kurdistan, does the situation there strike as good, will the KRG demand more self governance and local rule in the area?
I know many odds are against us, and the region that we live in is very volatile and unstable, with Iran slowly collapsing from the inside, what may be the future of our people, culture, language.
Nothing bad I hope, appreciate all the responses :)
No difference at all.
Slav friends! I am an American tourist heading to Erbil tomorrow and was curious where the best places to eat and hangout recommend by locals. For what it’s worth I am a 30yo guy.
Excited to see Kurdistan!
I tried to climb mt Halgurd in january. I had snow up to my waist and witnessed multiple avalanches. But it was really beautiful so thats a plus. Here is a video with english subtitles if anyones is interested. https://youtu.be/FsjCymXQXvA
Yet another Turkish state-funded "protest" is being staged to create unrest in the peaceful SDF-controlled areas of eastern Syria under the pretext of opposing a so-called "PKK occupation."
The goal of this so-called protest is to provoke disturbances, forcing SDF and YPG forces to intervene and disperse the crowds. This, in turn, is used to portray them as the aggressors.
Meanwhile, these protesters couldn’t care less about other parts of Syria, like Afrin, being occupied by Turkey.
Despite their lies and propaganda the "United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria" was unable to find evidence to substantiate claims about ethnic cleansing, stating:
"Though allegations of 'ethnic cleansing' continued to be received during the period under review, the Commission found no evidence to substantiate claims that YPG or SDF forces ever targeted Arab communities on the basis of ethnicity, nor that YPG cantonal authorities systematically sought to change the demographic composition of territories under their control through the commission of violations directed against any particular ethnic group".
Hûn dikarin bajarên eslî yên ku Kurd di dewletên dagirker de lê dijîn binivîsin? Gelek nexşeyên Kurdistanê hene, hinek ji wan kevn in, ji ber vê yekê ez ê hewl bidim nexşeya Kurdistanê ya resen şirove bikim, gelek tevlihevî heye.
Looks like they updated it tremendously! Just FYI, the image is not my DNA, but my grandma's.
Hey everyone! I’m 23 and from Pakistan, currently in Iraq. Looking to meet new people and make some friends. Whether it’s exploring, grabbing coffee, or just chatting, feel free to reach out!

Is it safe to visit Erbil and Slemani as a British tourist? I hope to visit in April/May some kurds in England say it's too dangerous right now and some say I would be fine. Just need some more opinions. Thanks everyone ❤️
What are the cheapest places to rent in kurdistan?
Preferably in kurmanji, or any common terms used specifically in mardin.
So I thought about this, certainly you guys gonna tell "yes but this ethnicity/country is more peacefull" that might be true however these countries/ethnicities are isolated.
We kurds have dealt with everyone and yet we are still peaceful and mercifull.
Can you think of a country/ethnicity that has dealt with everyone and is still yet peacefull?
I am from Bakur and that is why I need my brothers from Bashur, Rojava and Rojhilat.
Since we know less about Kurdistan than those who live in other regions, I will create a chat group to exchange information about things all around Kurdistan. I only need 3 people.
