Hi all, will be visiting from 11-14Dec. Mostly doing things around KLCC/Bukit Bintang area. Recently METMalaysia released a statement on the monsoon surge.
In your experience will KL (specifically the touristy areas) flood that badly? I can't reschedule my trip, should I cancel?
The Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur is a stylish city-centre hotel in a 65-storey skyscraper, offering stunning views of the Petronas Towers and KLCC Park. With exceptional dining options, including Yun, a renowned Chinese restaurant, it truly stands out from the rest. Click here to book.
Location
The hotel sits in the heart of the Golden Triangle, just moments from shopping malls, restaurants, and the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. Next door, KLCC Park offers a relaxing outdoor option alongside the hotel’s gym. KLCC Station, only a five-minute walk away, makes it easy to explore city highlights like Jalan Alor, a lively street packed with delicious hawker food.
Services & Facilities
On the seventh floor, the outdoor infinity pool provides stunning views of the city skyline, offering a refreshing break from the air-conditioned interiors. The gym, also on this floor, overlooks KLCC Park, while the spa is a serene retreat featuring treatments inspired by traditional Malaysian rituals, including a unique rattan massage. Guests booking a Club Room enjoy access to the Club Lounge, which offers all-day snacks, beverages, and a limited daily dry-cleaning service.

The JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur, known as The Happening Hotel, is perfectly located on Jalan Bukit Bintang in the city's business and entertainment district. This luxury hotel boasts 738 stylish rooms, including poolside options and spacious suites, offering a blend of relaxation and inspiration. With 18 versatile event spaces, it’s an ideal choice for meetings, conferences, or social gatherings. Guests can dine at the innovative Shook! restaurant or the charming Luk Yu Tea House, enjoy a refreshing swim in the outdoor pool, work out in the fitness centre, and unwind in the sauna. Book your stay to experience the best of Bukit Bintang.
Value For Money
The JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur isn’t the cheapest option in the city, but it offers incredible value for its quality. A night in a Deluxe room starts at just £144, which is outstanding for a central city hotel of this calibre. For comparison, a hotel of similar quality in London would easily cost three times as much.
Services & Facilities
The JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur enjoys a prime city-centre location, connected to one shopping mall and directly opposite another. The iconic Petronas Towers are just a ten-minute stroll away via an air-conditioned walkway. With an endless selection of restaurants and bars within 100 metres, plus a 10% discount for hotel guests at many local dining spots, you’re spoiled for choice beyond the typical room service or hotel dining options. It’s hard to fault the location.
The hotel itself offers everything you’d expect from a JW Marriott, including a superb spa, a well-equipped 24-hour gym (a feature I particularly appreciate), and a lovely swimming pool. The conference facilities are top-notch, and the staff were always attentive and helpful—never making me feel guilty for asking for assistance, unlike in some other hotels.
Wi-Fi, however, is an area where the hotel falters. The complimentary service was frustratingly slow, making even basic tasks like opening emails a challenge. Reception quickly upgraded me to the premium Wi-Fi free of charge when I complained, but I believe this level of service should be standard. In today’s world, reliable internet access is a basic necessity, and slow speeds can negatively affect a guest’s overall experience.
My room was very comfortable, if not the best I’ve stayed in. The super king-size bed was exceptionally cosy, with a variety of pillows to suit different preferences. The room was well-furnished, featuring a modern TV and a DVD player. The bathroom was particularly impressive, with a separate shower and bathtub—something that many hotels, especially in the UK, fail to provide.
Summary
Great central location and good value for money. 8/10. Click here for more information.
My partner recently wrote a trip report of our time in Kuala Lumpur. Check it out here.
Hi
Anyone know where I would get cow's milk allergy baby formula in KL? We're here on holiday and ran out/lost a tub. It really needs to be this specific type, as the last pharmacy we tried gave us a goats milk formula but it's causing symptoms.
Hey, I’m looking for advice on where to stay in KL for 3 months as an expat from South Africa. I’m after an affordable place where I can really enjoy what KL has to offer. I’m used to public transport, so I don’t mind staying near it if it helps keep costs down. Any tips on good areas to stay, websites for booking long-term apartments, or places with decent WiFi? Thanks in advance!
I'm a single expat living in Malaysia and it has been 4months so far (and I love it!). I currently live in Selangor due to my office location but since I always hangout in KL city area (Bukit Bintang, Pasar Seni, and TRX etc) and my job allows me to WFH, I kinda want to move to more central area. KL expats and locals, do you have any recommendations and why? I can't afford 3k+ condos but maybe 2k.... (I'm paying 1.8k now), have been looking through rent lists around Bansar and KLCC. TIA :)
Looking for gay friends for hanging out chill and fun.
Hi everyone! I’m visiting Kuala Lumpur soon for 48 hours, coming from Japan, and I’m looking for some unique experiences and photo-worthy spots around the city. I’ve already seen that the W Hotel offers a great view of the Petronas Towers, but I’m curious if there are any ultimate luxury views with the towers, whether it’s another hotel, rooftop bar, or a hidden gem you recommend
I also came across an indoor rollercoaster ride and am definitely down for any adventurous or unique activities, like zip lining, diving with sharks Aquaria KLCC or anything else high adrenaline & thrill. the Batu Caves is on my list too, but I’d love suggestions for more cool photo spots.
Any recommendations for unique KL things to see or do would be greatly appreciated—thanks in advance! :)
I am travelling to KL and Genting Highlands alone next week for a couple of days each. Please share any tips or Insights that can make a 24 year old guy make most of his vacation.
Thanksss
Why doesn't Grindr work well in Malaysia and images don't always appear except rarely!!
Expat new to KL - any Catholic churches here where they speak english?
I land at 1 am than leave at 7 am to Padang
Just had the worst semester exams of my life and I desperately need to reconnect with nature before I go insane. Are there any nature-y places like hills, beaches etc near kl that is accessible by train? 🙏🏽
Hi everyone, I will be traveling to KL from India with my wife from 22nd Dec to 28th December. My itinerary is as follows: 22nd - explore KL 23rd- travel to genting while day. Planning to visit sky world's theme park, praying it does not rain 24th -26th - Planning to travel to Langkawi via bus n ferry. Return on 26th overnight bus from Kuala Perlis to KL 27th- Baku caves and KL 28th- return flight in evening
My doubts are about travelling to genting and Langkawi via bus should be fine in this holiday season? Is it a heavy rainfall season and worthless to visit sky world's park Also how the floods will affect my itinerary to Langkawi and gentings. Would really appreciate guidance from group members. 🙏
I have a flight from klia 1 today. I am looking to buy some Beryl's chocolate from there. I am at genting highland right now and there are no options near by. I can see there is shop at klia 2 but I dont want to go to klia 2.
Last Saturday I went to Kuna Rooftop KL (TREC) for the Ligor Spirit Festival Psy Trance party, with proper psy trance ultraviolet lights decor.
The music was powerful, the people danced enthusiasticly, unlike most parties where the dance floor is empty or people just stand still all night.
Very interesting experience, I think those who want more energy than techno can give psy trance a try, it's a very unique experience.
Anyways, I was sober with soft drinks that night.
“Hipster” place to hang out around / near Bukit Bintang?
Spending a whole day alone in KL before flying back home and my hotel is in Bukit Bintang. I’m looking for a place similar to Cubao Expo / First United Building (Philippines) or M Bloc Space (Indonesia).
Basically a place where up to early 30’s hang out for local beer, music, art products, etc.
I also run and bike to explore to city, so if you have any recos for running route and bike rental, would appreciate it! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Hi, does anyone have any recommendations of hair stylists around bandar utama or close by who
Better yet if its the same location, price is not as much of an issue.
Sorry I realise this is a KL sub, but I'm hoping it's close enough and really the PJ sub is too small to ask something like this lol.
Hi everyone,
My friends and I are planning a trip to Malaysia from India, scheduled from 13th December 2024 to 22nd December 2024. Our flights to Kuala Lumpur are already booked, and we’ve been excitedly planning our itinerary, deciding where to go and what to do. We were in the process of booking accommodations in Kuala Lumpur when we came across the news about severe flooding in Malaysia.
This has left us quite worried about the safety and feasibility of our trip. We’d greatly appreciate any advice or updates regarding the situation and whether it’s advisable to proceed with our travel plans. Unfortunately, our tickets are non-refundable, which makes the situation even more challenging.
Sending heartfelt prayers to those affected by the floods. Please stay safe and take care.
Any recommendations on what we can fit into 1 busy day? We arrive at 7am. I've never been to KL, so it's an adventure for us both Thank you!
Hey everyone, me and my fiancé will be visiting KL in a couple of weeks and I wondered what the best location to stay is? We want a lively area that is close to night life etc.
Additionally, I wanted some advice about hotels too. Many of the hotels I've seen are in serviced apartments rather than full on hotels, how is the service there? Additionally I'll be working and will need access to high speed internet, do those serviced apartments generally provide reliable wifi? or would appreciate hotel be a better option? Thanks in advance!
I’m looking for a salon in Cyberjaya that’s great at doing perms. Ideally, somewhere with experienced stylists who can handle different hair types and provide great results.
Would love to hear your recommendations or experiences. Thanks in advance! 😊

I'm specifically looking for a hardwood one about one with about a 1.5cm diameter, and 150cm long. Any recommendations for any stores that might sell such a wood dowel? I guess I'm just mainly looking for a home improvement store. I'd prefer being able to buy it in person
Hi,
Having an offer of Mumbai with 25LPA CTC and 17000RM per month of Kuala Lumpur. Which one would you choose: working and living in Mumbai or Kuala Lumpur?
Please share opinions.
Where can I get good chocolates at reasonable price to take back home? I want to buy non-durian chocolate which is famous in Malaysia.
I’m not an experienced driver and I don’t think I can drive up the genting road to genting premium outlets, is it possible to park below the genting mountain and get a grab up and down later?
