Anyone know if you can take the finish off while juicing?

I have a Hurom slow press juicer and I just finished juicing and noticed some weird blue areas on some parts. Looks like the black finish rubbed off or something and warbled it like it was under too much pressure or something. Anyone have this happen or know if I shouldn't drink the juice? Thanks

Recommendation: Juicer as soy/nut milk strainer?

Hi all! First timer researching into juicer and I want to get some sanity check/recommendations from folk. Please help recommend some juicers with the following criteria:

  1. Juicer has a fine filter mesh or can be used for straining liquids from purée.
  2. Juicer can extract liquid relatively well and produce dryer pulps.
  3. Juicer process substances fast.
  4. Heat during juicing is a non-issue.
  5. Weak blending power is okay as the substance is already liquified from prior blending.
  6. Ideally under $50-$100 or can be sourced well from second-hand markets (see below)

For anyone interested in the background, here’s the story:

To start, I’m a team blender. I have a vitamix blender and I use it for most of blending/juicing tasks as I normally don’t mind pulps. However as I started to make soy milk at home I’ve looked into fast and economical ways to strain it. I’ve tried both using nut milk bags and French press filter to manually filter out the pulp from blended substances. Both of them require some effort to extract all juice out so I want to see if there are easier ways to do. This is when I discovered the wonderful world of juicers.

I think the idea of extracting the liquid out from the pulped soy milk by centrifuge or squeezing sounds promising, but there’s no way to validate it until I actually try. I don’t want to shell out a good fortune on juicers since I don’t see myself using it other than straining, so I turned to Facebook marketplace for used juicers.

For whatever reason I see a plethora of Breville Fountain Juicers available on fb marketplace dirt cheap around CAD $30~$50 around my area. But they seem to be the older models as opposed to the new “COLD” models. Breville fountain COLD is priced around $100. I think I’m fine with older models as long as the filter is solid. I also see some slow juicers from AICOK, kitchen Aid and Omega.

If you’re an owner of any of the above machines feel free to chime in. Otherwise please let me know if you have any other recommendations.

For women: juicing and period

When it comes to my period, I am normal. Today for the first time I juiced a hand full of cilantro, one celery stalk, 6 key limes, cucumber and drank it. I was feeling very high. I went to lay down then had to per. When I went to pee, I saw minimal blood when I wiped. When I stood up, I felt more blood coming. It is not my period time. I had my period about two weeks ago. This is not normal for me but I think it had to do with this juice. What do you think happened?

Pulp overload

Hi all, I am juice fasting for the first time. I have been putting the pulp in freezer bags. I've used it before to make veggie burgers and oat 'cookies' for my husband, but I am generating that much pulp now that I can't see how I am going to use it all efficiently, especially if I am juice fasting and not consuming the pulp in recipes, which I would naturally do when not fasting. The freezer is getting pretty full. I think if I recycle it, along with the peels, I will have to get a second food waste bin.

Has anybody got any suggestions? Or what is your favourite method of either cooking with, storing or disposing of it?

Is juicers.co.uk a reliable site?

Looking to get a green star elite and it seems like this is an only good UK site which has it.

Anyone here bought anything from them?

Hurom h400, Nama J2, Omega effortless?!

I am so confused on which to go with. I have only ever had a centrifugal breville and it sucks to clean up and the pulp is still wet so it doesn’t get much use. Would like to be able to leave out on counter and have easy cleanup. I do a lot of celery, greens & beet juices so it has to be able to do that well.

Anyone have pros/cons of these machines?

Im planning to try my first longer juice feast soon. My old solostar 2 is just so slow to use and clean and the parts are falling apart...

Just cand decide between J2 or J3..... any thoughts?

Failed on day 2 :(

Hello. I did 10 days of juicing 2 weeks ago but I stopped because I felt hungry all the time (it was psyhological).

Yesterday I started another round of 10 days and it was going great until today noon when I ate medium homemade pizza :(

I feel bad and want to know if there is a point in continuing with the juicing and if the 2 days are wasted?

Got the Nama J2

Just an update - I returned my Fridja juicer to Amazon after it conked out after 2 weeks of use, and did go ahead and purchase the Nama J2.

As the Fridja was my first juicer, I was quite happy with it, but boy.. the Nama J2 is head and shoulders above it (as I hoped it would be for the price!) It's quieter, far drier pulp, more juice yield, less pulp leftover in hopper. I am so glad I got it! 💜

Started my first juice fast. I'm going to take it slow, aim for 5 days or so to begin, and see how I feel.

Today, I had green juice (cuc, ginger, parsley, celery, green apple, lemon) Orange & carrot Watermelon & mint Pineapple ABC

Hi there. Brand new. Love juice. Want to love juice even more.

If I usually blend stuff like this into juice— what would be my best option under $200? Ideally with as little plastic as possible w/the highest yields. I usually just make it myself only, a few times a week.

My usual fruit I turn into juice or smoothies—

Strawberries Oranges/tangerines/clementines Lemons Limes Raspberries Blueberries

Does long-term juicing increase risk of tooth decay/erosion/sensitivity?

Curious to hear from individuals who have been drinking juice long-term (i.e. >2–4 years).Have your teeth remained unaffected & healthy?

My juices are generally low-acidity as I mainly use carrots, celery, and beets. I do incorporate Granny Smiths, citrus (lemons, limes, oranges) and other acidic seasonal fruits from time to time.

I swish with water immediately after drinking (and by drinking, I mean I down the juice in less than two minutes).

Am I being overly protective with my teeth? I just don’t want to risk anything. So far, they’ve been fine but they’re sometimes sensitive. To be fair, I’ve always had sensitive teeth!

Would love to hear about your dental experiences with long-term juicing. Trying to find a healthy sustainable balance for my long term dental and bodily health.

I started drinking 32 oz of beet juice but it makes me feel hot and weak and really sick for like thirty minutes. Is this a normal response?

Help with Mother’s Day juicer gift

I wanted to get my mom a nice gift this year so I got her a Nama J2 for Mother’s Day. She currently juices oranges over a manual hand juicer and thought this would be perfect.

She doesn’t know much about juicing besides single fruits. Any tips I can let her know for a beginner?

Don't crave as many veggies, but only when juicing regularly.

I started juicing about 4 yrs ago, and the health benefits have been absolutely incredible. On average most mornings I drink about 48oz of fresh vegetable juice first thing in the morning and nothing else. I also do 16/8 intermittent fast and eat lunch around noon and dinner around 7ish. I drink 16oz celery juice first thing in morning, then 30 min later drink a 32oz tonic of carrot/red cabbage/beet/ginger/kale/collard/cucumber, and 1 apple, so it's almost all vegetables and little fruit. Since doing this I've noticed on days I juice, which is most, I don't crave nearly as many veggies as I do when not doing juicing. I'll still eat a few in the day, but not nearly as many as I would if I wasn't juicing regularly. This isn't a bad thing, just kind of an interesting funny thing I've noticed lol. I also notice I can get away with eating junk food more often, probably because the juice is so nutrient dense with live enzymes, however I still try to keep junk food consumption to a minimum as best I can.

I still crave some fruit in the day and usually eat some after lunch and dinner, I'm sure because I've only had one apple for the day with the juicing. I still eat meat in my diet, not a lot, just a typical amount I guess. This has sort of been a learning experience to me that our bodies will often indicate to us with hunger what it needs for sustainability and thriving. Does anyone else have a similar experience to this?

Juicing app?

Do any of you have a favorite juicing app that you use as a resource for recipes? I had a great one when I juiced a few years ago, but I don't think it exists anymore. Just curious about your recommendations.

How ahead of time do most of you make your juices?

I just got a nama j2 and it’s been amazing, a big concern was the annoyance of cleaning a juicer but it’s been pretty easy. I do like the process of making them fresh and drinking them right away but what do you think is most optimal? If I saved some for 24 hours later is it a significant dip in the potency of the nutrients?

Juicing Idea

Hello all, please don't flame me for this because all of the research on my own that i've done is giving me varying results to my question.

Say if I wanted to add something like celery to my juice, but couldn't fit it in the juicer, could I dehydrate it, grind it up, mix it in, and still get the health benefits despite the water content being taken out? I appreciate any and all input and hope this made sense. Thank you!

What is the typical or most common ounces per day to reap the benefits of different types of juiced fruits and vegetables.

Hi guys new to juicing. Trying to every Suday juice it for the week ahead. The plan is to drink every day either morning or night a certain amount of fruits and veggies combination for us to feel the benefits from it. For clarity I am not fasting or doing a juice cleanse . Just trying to drink daily.

The combinations below are the juices we made in mason jars for the week and plan to do some each week moving forward. Ideally looking for skin and internal benefits.

Kale cucumber celery stalk Golden Delicious Apples 1/2 lemon and ginger and carrots

kale, strawberries, apples, cucumber, celery

Pineapple, Apple, spinach and lemon, beet root and carrots.

Tribest Greenstar Elite vs Pro?

What's the difference between them? On the website I'm looking at the pro model is almost £300 more than the elite and they look basically the same.

Don't mind paying extra if it means it lasts longer or it's stronger but can't tell what the difference is.

Also I heard the pro isn't as good for juicing fruits, is that true?

Fridja juicer stopped working after 2 weeks

Well, I'm returning my new Fridja juicer to Amazon after 2 weeks of use. I simply turned the dial to 'reverse' when I was last juicing, and it went pop, and doesn't work. I did notice that when I went to clean up the last 2 times, there was a little juice that had come out inside the machine where the seal is. I don't get how this would have happened, as the seals are very firm and tight. I would only remove the seal of the actual juicer for cleanup, as per instructions, and then reposition correctly (flat side inside)

Amazon are pretty good with returns though, and I want a refund. Considering purchasing the Nama J2... I am in the UK. If anyone knows anything about a good website to purchase, or discount codes, I would be very grateful :) I'm on the NamaWell website at the moment, but will browse other avenues.

Juicing Preference for 5 day cleanse?

hi! i'd like to embark on a 5 day juice cleanse... but a lot of the plans i found are a bit overwhelming with all the ingredients they list. I'd like something somewhat easy to ensure I follow through, maybe just 1 or 2 recipes.

I was thinking of doing Celery, lemon, ginger, and apple.

Is there another variant I should add in in addition to this one? Would love to hear opinions! :)
