Hi there! I am an aspiring journalist and I'm currently enrolled for university after getting my AA degree. However, my college doesn't have a journalism program but they do offer a communications and English degree. Is it better to major in journalism when it comes to be a strong candidate in the field? There are no other universities in my area and it is not practical for me to move but I might consider an online college if it worth my while. Thanks!
I'm at loose ends and would like to help someone's coverage of the Boston Marathon on Monday. Can provide a photo portfolio (no marathons, though) and daily newspaper portfolio on request. Please DM me.

I’m majoring in Finance but it’s difficult and I find it boring. I want to switch my major to Journalism. I want to work for ESPN OR CNBC. I’m In college rn as a junior. Idk if I should change my major to Journalism? I already got my degree in Business Administration for an Associate Degree. What should I do? I really love talking about sports and learning about them
I am finishing high school this year and obviously want to further my education a few years back I said I wanted to be an international human rights lawyer and work with the UN but things have obviously changed since then. My parents still want me to be a lawyer but I really want to become a sports journalist. I’ve thought of doing a journalism course on the side, while I study either HR or law, and start a blog on the side. That way I’ll be doing what my parents want me to do and doing what makes me happy. Is this a reasonable compromise?

We are seeking an entrepreneurial reporter, journalist or writer to lead writing for an emerging online magazine targeting startup founders.
The magazine’s mission is to provide founders with approachable and actionable insights through interviews with successful founders and investors, behind the scenes features, and industry reports and trends. We also tell stories that inspire and demystify what it takes to become a successful startup founder–even if you are an outsider to the industry.
What You’ll Do
As the lead writer, your job will be to brainstorm attention-getting ideas and set the agenda for stories, interviews, features, and series. You will research compelling personalities, interview them, and distill your conversations into an approachable and useful format. Hey guys. I’ll probably study journalism or media studies at university and I’m interested in one thing. Are there any news organizations in english speaking countries that accept foreigners (especially for internships)? I’m from Czech Republic and I was thinking about either studying abroad or studying in my country while trying an internship in another country. I hope I don’t sound delusional. Thank you and have a good day.
PS: I have a B2 certificate in english so I would also like to develop my english more.

I was wondering if anyone here would have some recommendations or know of any publications that are hiring in the Seattle area. I’m located in Snohomish County (about 40ish minutes from Seattle). Obviously there is the Seattle times but I’ve seen that they require at least 5 years of experience whereas I’m just nearing the 3 year mark. I hold a bachelors in communications and have worked at 2 small local papers (one was an internship). I currently write for a small online paper/local radio station but I’m looking to move onto something bigger that has more opportunities and better pay. Ideally I’d like to work for a paper but I’m not opposed to reporting for one of the areas news broadcast stations. I have experience on air as well, where I helped cover local high school sports. Anything south of Renton I don’t think I’d be able to do since it’s at least an hour plus commute (I’m fine with driving north towards the border since traffic is hardly an issue). Anyways, thanks for the help!
How do I get a job at an NPR/ APM/ etc. station doing local investigative journalism? (Or any reporting!)
I have experience across three internships pitching and working on assignment to write, report, and edit daily and longer stories for digital platforms. I'm willing to move to most places. I don't have experience with audio. But I desperately just want to work for a public-interest motivated outlet. I love public radio and grew up in the "church of NPR," and understand and align with its values. Audio is my favorite medium and I would love to learn if I could find someone to teach me, but I'm equally content sticking with what I know.
Where do I find these jobs? More importantly, how do I get hired for them? Is there any hope?
I’m an undergraduate student conducting a research on “The effect of perceived organisational support on burnout amongst journalists.” It’ll be a great help if you ( a journalist ) could fill out this form and provide me with greater insight and assist my research process.
Your participation in this study may require approximately 5-10 minutes. Your responses will be kept confidential and participation is strictly voluntary. There are no right or wrong responses. Thankyou!!
