We've had our F Pace for 5 years, and after looking at a lot of options, both fancier, and less fancier, and even an SVR, we've decided to keep our jaguar. We've never kept any of our cars past the factory warranty. In 5 years it's never been in the shop for anything unscheduled other than a complimentary infotainment system update, and a system reprogram so the cooling system wouldn't sound like a freight train when it kicked in , and we just couldn't find anything we liked better.
Hoping that it gives us a few more trouble free (or at least minimally expensive) years of good service. I fully realize we've had rather good luck with ours compared to many people. But we drive it fairly hard and it's been good to us.
We have faster cars, we have more luxurious cars, but we've never had a car we've loved nearly as much as this, even with the 25t engine in it. I don't even mind that it's our slowest vehicle, it just makes us smile whenever we drive it. Definitely a case of how the car makes you feel versus what kind of numbers it puts down. When we owned C4 and C6 corvettes, we had the same feeling when we got to drive second and third generation Miatas. That's when I realized numbers don't mean as much as how the car makes you feel.
So wish us luck please. I know it's a little bit unusual of all the cars we've owned to keep a Jaguar after the warranty.
As you can see, I tried to bridge the gaps with hot glue, but one of them fell off about a day later. Is there a quick repair I can do that lasts longer than my method?
Hello
My e pace had an engine management light come on for the dpf. After the garage did a forced regeneration the light came back on, they are now advising it's a faulty matter sensor.
Is this easy to replace yourself and what cost would I be looking at ?
Thoughts on XJ-S convertible (4.0 engine) as a weekend car? How reliable and fun are they? What to be cautious about?
I saw this one locally for $6k. No rust, but cracked bumper and some work done recently.
I’ve got a new (to me) 2018 XJ R-Sport and would like to connect my iPhone wirelessly. Any suggestions on the best adapter?
Thank you!
What battery do you recommend for a replacement? TIA
A follow up to my recent "What cool features" post... What would you change (if anything) about your Jag?
As before, I have a 2012 XF Portfolio with the 2.2D engine. There are a few things I wish Jaguar had done differently:
Wipers: I would much prefer an intermittent wipe, with varying degrees of delay, as opposed to the auto wipe with varying degrees of sensitivity that we have. The auto wipe system is unreliable, often wiping the screen when not needed, and then failing to wipe when it is needed!
Eco Stop/Start: I really wish this only kicked in if I engage Neutral, or if I sit with my foot on the brakes for a good few seconds. As it is the engine will cut out in the time it takes me to go from Drive to Reverse, then immediately kick back in: When parallel parking, or reversing around a corner, the engine cuts, then sputters back to life mid manoeuvre, which is annoying and can't be good for the starter motor!
Finally, gears: When I flip the downshift paddle, I want to change down one gear, not two! I understand the thinking behind the "two gear downshift"; it puts you in a rev range suitable for an overtake. But if I want to do that I'll just kick down twice! Usually, if I take control of the gears, it is because I'm approaching an incline at low RPMs and don't want the engine to lug, before it finally downshifts by itself...
Also, Sport mode should be completely manual, not just a version of auto that hangs on to each gear for longer; IMO the car does that anyway under brisk acceleration. A diesel engine does not need to rev to the redline for best results. Let the torque do the work, not the gears!
So. What would you do to fine tune your Jaguar experience? Or is it as good as it can be? Sound off below...
Hello! recently I found a jaguar xj8 with 100k miles for 4k near me. he said he did regular maintenance and there's no lights on the dash or any issues. I'm getting a mechanic to look at it soon, but I wanted to know if it's even a good idea. i have some money I can throw around to fix it but I'd rather not double the purchase price just for me to only be able to drive it twice a year. I'm currently financing my daily but always loved how jags look and want a fun car for the weekends and just to cruise around in. however jaguars aren't exactly known for their longevity, so how much of a money pit do you think its going to be?
I currently have a p250 XE R-dynamic, but where I've moved to i need a bigger car with more ground clearance. So that'll be an fpace then, it needs to be something capable of quick overtakes on the limited number of straights we have. So the question is what engine (UK) the P400e, the D300 or another? Unfortunately it won't be an SVR (it's a bit over the budget of 30-40k) I'll be looking at ones that are 1-3 years old <40k on the clock
I'm in the countryside, minimum distance drive is 10mi one way, average distance 25mi one way, mostly open road travelling at 40-60mph (pace depends on the seasonal traffic and campers) Occasional 90+mi trips (i.e once every few months)
Advice welcome, happy to give any other information required
Hi everyone,
One of the blind spot radars on my XE seems to be damaged and needs to be changed.
Buying a used or new one seems to be relatively cheap, but does it required coding to the car with SDD?
Saw this XJ parked here for at least two months and today the spot next to it was free so I couldn’t resist. These rims are gangster.
I currently have an 2021 Audi RS5 Sportback and have loved it for the last 3 years. I feel since I'm on PCP I should be looking for a new car but nothing seems to have moved on much and everything I look at I just feel I'm paying more for just a newer registration.
A couple of things I wouldn't mind are it being a bit more comfortable and a bit more ground clearance as a few times a year we drive on some gravel roads/country lanes. That also means it can't be just a massive range rover. I don't mind the car being a bit slower but still want something fun/interesting to drive.
Does that F-Pace SVR cut it? Would I feel like it's a step back from the Audi technology wise? Has anyone come from any similar cars? The nearest one is too far away to test drive.
I need advice and help.
Currently chasing JLR Lookers outfit to take accountability for putting AdBlue in my non DES compliant car. It is on the invoice from Lookers and also oil filters and changes - however my independant mech had to put 1.5ltrs of oil in last week when an Engine Malfunction light appeared. Suggesting no new oil was added during service. I had driven a grand ttl of 57milea from the 21/9-27/10 when the issue first arose. The Jag SPECALIST had to replace two sensors that he believed malfunctioned due to the AdBlue. It was fixed and repaired (ovbiously not anywhere near Lookers) and today the same malfunction light appears. I have just finally gotten thru to Jaguar customer care and complaints and she raised the issue.
Any or all advice is greatly appreciated
Thanks Tom
Just filled up my 2020 XE and noticed my gas cap is missing. Weird. Do people steal these? I was connected by a little plastic leash which is cut -oddly it COULD be just pulled off but someone cut it.
I assume I can get one on Amazon or eBay but is there a certain model number or fit number I’d need? When I searched I just see them for the Rover or XF.
I’ve been looking at some F-Pace SVRs and just wondering if JLR ever fixed the supercharger isolator issue that seemed to plague every earlier SCV6 and SCV8. I had a Discovery 4 with the 3.0 SCV6 and by 40K miles the snout had to be rebuilt. By comparison I had an Audi with their 3.0L SCV6 and even to 120K miles never had a single problem with the supercharger making that horrible noise. Considering both used Eaton TVS superchargers I don’t know what it was about the JLR applications that seemed to be so prone to issues. My Disco was a 2014 model so I was hoping by 2023 on the SVR the common engine issues had been resolved.
Can anyone speak to their own experience with a 2021+ supercharged V6/V8 engine and if the engine has been reliable on the whole? I tend to do a lot of miles so I don’t want to have to spend an arm and a leg in stupid little repairs. I also had the 5.0L V8 Discovery 4 (N/A) and I never had engine problems with it. My SCV6 needed the injectors replaced at 76K miles, it always seemed to idle super rough and I felt like it was a big step down from the older V8 in terms of performance, NVH and yet fuel economy was no better even with 2 extra gears and 2.0L less displacement. Prices on used SVRs are quite decent, around $60K for a ‘23 with 5000 miles.
Just wondering what other F pace owners are paying for car insurance. For the record, I am a 53-year-old female with no tickets or accidents for at least the last 10 years. I currently drive a 2020 challenger scat pack, and was thinking of trading it for a 2021 F-pace S. But I got an insurance quote that nearly doubles my insurance. This is just hard for me to swallow because I’m going from a V-8 with nearly 500 hp to a four-cylinder with just over 300.
Hi everyone,
I’m considering purchasing a 2020 Jaguar F-Pace with the 2.0L with 80.000 KM diesel engine, and I’d like to know more about the long-term reliability and maintenance costs.
Here are my main questions:
This would be our main family car.
Any advice, experiences, or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Hello everybody, I posted this on mechanics' thread, I believe I can get some answers here hopefully.
I am very keen to buy a Jaguar XE 2.0D prestige plus, 2015 model. lts at 180K km, looks clean, no damage history.
However important part is, after 135K km of use, owner replaced motor with brand new crate engine (they told me they have an invoice as well regarding that parts are brand new.) and brand new turbo set entirely, written on website. I called a Jaguar-Rover mechanic for help, he told me it's as good as buying a 45K km car however it's very dependant on its previous user.
Apart from info about it's previous owner, what should I ask to gallery about the car and be aware of?
Thank you in advance!
I’ve been eyeing some older XF’s around the 2010 mark. These are obviously getting on a bit now but they look like a great bit of kit for not a lot of money. Which model / engine should I go for?
I should add that I’m in the UK so fuel prices are a consideration.
I’ve also spotted a 2014 2.2 in my price range, but it’s got 136k miles on it and it’s not the 3 litre. It looks a little more modern though…
A friend of mine just bought a F Type 2022 and I want to Gift him something nice for christmas. Is there something you recommend as a Must-have?
Given Jaguar’s “Go Electric or Go Broke” plan, I’m wondering, what’s the real downside to electric people seem to believe?
First - this is a serious question and I’ve got hardly an opinion on either side at this point.
I don’t own an electric car —only drove a fully electric once - a base model Tesla a few years ago from San Fran to Monterey for a friend’s wedding. Traffic was so steady-slow I was never able to get above, say 60mph. When I drive distances I usually push about 90ish the whole way (traffic allowing). So you can imagine how much I hated that. Also was disappointed I never got to experience the quick acceleration. Just wasn’t the trip to enjoy the car. And also - that car kinda sucked. No real luxury. Nowhere near as nice as my 3series at the time nor current XE or old S4.
The other time was borrowing a friend’s hybrid suv in Switzerland where I was strongly warned about massive speed traps and kept the car slow (later to find out that weekend of driving I got 4 tickets. Sorry bud!). And that car wasn’t even fun.
I don’t drive electric because I live in NYC and don’t have a dedicated garage to put in a charger. Charging that Tesla before returning it in SF sucked and took an hour.
But for those with homes and garages and ability to put in a charger - why not? Seems a no brainer to me but I really don’t have the experience with real driving of one. So you just miss the deep petrol growl (I do love on a truly big engine, despise when it’s kids with a tricked out shirty crackly loud Honda).
I’d love to save the environment - don’t get me wrong. But I also know I’m benefiting from the real problem of large corporations creating pollution in many many other ways. Probably my company included. So really I don’t think the electric car will be the magical fix.
Everyone’s pretty mad about Jag’s idea to go green. On another post someone suggested one guy keep his insanely beautiful FType bc there won’t be new Petrol ones.
Jag makes, hands down, the most beautiful of cars. But couldn’t the upcoming electrics be just as much a work of art? Maybe just quieter? There was a once an ad for (I think RR) where they said the only customer complaint was the clock was loud (old fashion chrono in the center of the beautiful dash). The ad ended with “We fixed the clock”. The idea was luxury also = silence.
What am I missing?
Someone scratched my baby and I’m really sad. The scratch is small and hard to see, unless you are looking for it, but I would still like to get it fixed. The white paint is completely gone on the scratch. Any thoughts about if this can be touched up?
Hey Jag fam, have you all updated the time in your Jaguar? I have updated it in the XJ.
For anyone still to change the clock in their car: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/szGZ4mwBQao
I’m having to scrap a STR on account of rust to the undercarriage making it beyond economic repair. It’s done around 54000 miles, so before I hand it to a scrap dealer I figured I’d check whether anyone in the UK is interested in picking it up for parts. The valley pipe was replaced about 6 years back. Pity to see it go, but it’s a rust bucket.
DM me if interested.
