My aunties old 2000 jag Xj I have never found the colour of it
I have noticed that whenever i press hard on the gas pedal, there’s a weird after smell that travels into the cabin from the air vents (maybe). It smells like burning rubber or matchsticks. Its a bit evident and goes away after a minute. Has anyone experienced this. And is this normal?
This happens only when i press the full throttle
Hi all
I'm looking at buying a new car and am very tempted by the 2015-16 jag XE. I was thinking of going for the petrol engine as I've not heard good things about the jag engines, and the early petrol XE's have the Ford 2.0l so it might be a little more reliable.
I'm in my early 20s and have never owned a jag, so I'm not exactly sure what these are like to maintain. My budget for is around 12k, I have found some nice 2nd hand cars with 50k miles going for 10k, I was also looking at one with 20k miles for 12k but my thoughts are it's probably been sat doing nothing for ages and the low mileage has done more harm than good.
I would appreciate some advice if this is a good purchase or not and what these are like to maintain.
I thinking about buying an used Jaguar XF 3.0 V6 supercharged AWD - 2015.
The car has about 125000 km and costs 8000 euros. I saw that there's a well known issue with the Y pipe and sometimes the gear selector and timing chain. Excepting those issues what should i look out for before buying it ?
Hi everyone,
I recently drove my 2024 Jaguar F-Type, which is supposed to be AWD, on snowy roads. To my surprise, it didn’t feel much different from my previous F-Type, which was RWD.
Is there a way to confirm if my vehicle is indeed AWD? Perhaps by checking the VIN or referring to the owner’s manual? I noticed there’s no AWD badge on the rear of the car.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your help!
Looking at a new car. Going from a 2017 1 series 2.0D 187bhp to possibly a 2019 XF 2.0D R-Sport 178 bhp. Anyone able to let me know how reliable these engines are? I’ve had no issues in 4 years with my 1 series and I’m hoping to find a car which is just as reliable as what I currently have.
Hi everyone,
I have an early '16 XE with the early screen between the gauges (the one where you have to choose between water temp & speed limit display). I'd like to upgrade to the 16.5 - 17+ display where you get both at the same time.
Based on my research you have to swap the whole cluster, and the plug for the new version is exactly identical to the older one.
However, is the update actually feasible? Does the cluster need to be coded to the car? Or can I expect this to be a plug & play affaire?
Also, my understanding is the cluster's the same for all petrol versions, whatever the power output / displacement, is that correct?
For reference:
These don't often come up as only 61 were made for the world market. I have one, but this is not mine. I know the guy who's selling it and it is a solid genuine car.

Mechanical crankcase pressure question. 2012 XJL SC V8. The engine blew out the front passanger side timing cover seal and I figured bad seal. The supercharger was redone about 3500 miles ago and had new pcv valves, all new gaskets and was fine until now.
On tear down I am finding puddles of oil in the the valleys of the cold air charge, throttle body, and sucked through the supercharger and all the tube's and hoses for evap... I know this points to an increase in crank case pressure, but what would cause this on this engine?
The last thing I want to do is put this all back together and have the same problem.
still in two minds, but as they’re only stick on and cost me £27 quid from eBay, I’m pretty happy
Does anyone own (or know who own it) the last Jaguar XK8/XKR built and made to be sold, which would be second-last VIN made before the very last of the line, which is currently kept at Jaguar museum (the one pictures) ?
Off to look at one tomorrow, 2020 HSE with 45k kms (or 28k miles depending on where you are)
Anything to look out for? How easy is it to work out the SoC?
We have an Fpace R sport atm with the beautiful V6
Just wondering if anyone working for JLR have any inside news on what all this is about and if there is indeed anything exciting coming up.
Has anyone here encountered this issue? So, Kitty has been doing great since the new engine install, until I got a random message on the dash "Incorrect DEF quality detected. 250 miles until no engine restarts". I know DEF has an average life of 1 year, and it's been in the tank for about that long, so I drained the DEF tank, and added new DEF. While I was at it, I pulled the DEF injector and cleaned it. It wasn't terrible, but it did have a small amount of white powder around the injector nozzle. I carefully cleaned it and reinstalled it. Since then, I've driven it around 40 miles, and the message didn't go away, it turned into "Incorrect DEF dosing", and the mileage countdown for no engine restarts is still counting down. I've got about 1800 miles on the new engine, there is no check engine symbol lit up, only the exhaust symbol. Does this need to be reset with a high end scanner? I used a cheap OBDII scanner, but it shows no fault codes. If anyone knows of a good scanner, or what the dealers use for these cars, please let me know, as I'm going to need one, if not now, eventually. I've read the NOx sensors can go bad at about 70,000 miles, but I don't want to replace the sensors, or injector if they aren't bad. My guess is the dealership will probably tell me I need a new DEF system that will run my half of what I gave for the car to begin with, so I'm trying to avoid taking it there if at all possible, and no independent shops will touch since it's a diesel.
Any help is appreciated!
Anyone else's X350 have a certain smell to the interior? Sort of like cigars mixed with a hint of Victorian house but not unpleasant or musty, warmly aromatic.
My dad's Mercedes had a similar smell but way stronger.
Just the smell of a luxury car? Or the ghosts of previously smoked cigars?
Got a 2016 XF X260.
My DAB and FM radio have stopped working. They show on sources but select them and unit goes back to Bluetooth.
Bluetooth streaming is fine.
Anyone experienced this?
I'm guessing antenna or DAB unit issue but welcome any guidance.
Should i pull the trigger , the interior and exterior is flawless

As an impacted owner, I am a bit relieved. Now I need to figure out which car I'll get next.
Pre-rebrand I would have been open to another later-MY I Pace (Pivi Pro would have been a nice little upgrade) but after the rebrand I figure it's time to move on and develop silly emotional attachment to another brand 🥲
In the market for our first Jag, although I own a Land Rover Disco/LR3 and know the brand well (pain included). Wife and I are in need of a second car, and the idea of an F-Pace is appealing to her.
At the moment, I'm trying to compare a 2018 35t Premium vs 2020 25t Prestige. Both are available with around 45,000 miles and look in decent condition for just under $20k USD (and both in grey).
I'm wondering if the 25t engine is noticeably underpowered vs the 35t, or if the 2018 premium trim is bland against the 2020 prestige (2020 seems to have a slightly upgraded looking screen/infotainment, but otherwise the interior looks similar).
Are there any known issues with either, or were either in a particularly reliable patch as far as Jag engines go? Perhaps by 2020, they had the 25t four cylinder 2.0L engine dialed in a gremlin free?
Ps, located in Southern California.
Thank you kindly. I'd love some input from the reddit brains trust.
North America, USA. DIYer who does maintenance/services (Battery replacement, BMS reset and registration, brake jobs, basic trouble shooting of check engine) but wants to be capable of pulling codes.
Tried searching jaguar forums but thread is dated (2014) I am not finding answers for 17' XE. Current Black friday sales ongoing and I wanted try my luck here for a response. My current Innova 5310 is insufficient for resetting services for the XE 2017 (Works fine for my Ford Mustang). I am hoping to use the device to perform basic maintenance and reset services.
Budget is ideally < $200
however I did include some of the following that are bidirectional and "free" updates w/o subscription.
LAUNCH Creader Elite V2.0 ($ 139, original 189 - Coupon 50.00
FOXWELL NT510 Elite. $159
THINKCAR Bidirectional Scan Tool, Thinkscan 672 $ 320 = $399 - $80 off coupon (Over budget but if its worth it Im happy to buy it on sale)
I am open to reccs.
Hello
Any help with this fault code what's best way to sort and resolve
Much apprappreciated
Hello,
I have a problem with the Pivi Pro map updates on my Jaguar E-Pace.
I installed the update directly from the site HERE by entering my car's VIN.
After downloading it to a USB stick, I insert it into the car to do the update and it downloads it.
The problem is that when I go to the on-board computer, on the map information page, it tells me that there is an update, even though I just performed it.
How can I solve it?
