RULES
In case anybody finds this sub, here are some rules of conduct:
Follow the site-wide rules.
Be respectful to the subject matter. This is a place to observe internet culture, not a place to laugh about how strange x subculture may be or make fun of those who participate in it. An exception can be made for PRED-type content and other depraved writings. However, serious critique and discussion is permitted.
DON'T INTERFERE WITH THE SUBJECT MATTER.

note: 'Sporting Dog' in this context means dog that is used in dog fights. The site seems to be the first online version of a print publication that has since been moved elsewhere.

note: the TSUKI Project was a cryptic website run by somebody who may or may not have sincerely believed that members of the community would die and ascend to a new 'System'. While it was initially suspected to be an ARG, that was apparently not the intention of the owner, and it functioned more as a quasi-roleplaying effort and hangout for Lain fans. The site eventually was closed in favor of a short-lived imageboard; since then, the owner has occasionally reemerged to revive the community. See here for more information.

Asterisks ranging from 0-3 denote my favorites, evaluated by an arbitrary mixture of entertainment, historical value, uniqueness, learning value, drama content, and maybe some other stuff. The links with three asterisks are exceptional in my personal opinion but doesn't say anything about the value you might get out of it compared to a link with no asterisks. Enjoy!

note: an attempt to create the longest chain of text ever. I don't think it ended up being successful, but it's a great example of early-to-mid 00's humor.

note: The Nibiru Council was a group of people channeling aliens so that they could impart their wisdom to the people of the world. Today Nibiru is strongly linked to Christian conspiracy theories, and it was a conspiracy theory at its conception, but this is a very standard New Age website- especially in the earlier archive snapshots.

note: this downloads a .mid file. They're annoying but harmless.
If you click here and filter by '.htm', you'll find a decent amount of content that wasn't linked on the homepage. It seems to have been run by a small group of furry rabbit enthusiasts in the mid-to-late 90's.

note: long before colorful pills became a standard online discussion topic, one man tried to forcefeed netizens the ultimate redpill- that he is truly Neo of The Matrix (but real). The content on this website is scattered about even moreso than average for its time, but it's well-archived, so following the links should take you around well enough. Hint: take the red pill.

note: I don't like posting well-known things here, but since the page went down, may as well. Ulillillia became a huge internet figure about a decade ago after Something Awful found his website, which revealed his extreme eccentricities. He has since conquered many of his problems through an inspiring amount of hard work, but in the process he stopped paying for his domain because he wanted to put the money to more productive use. While the death of the website is a loss to the internet, Ulillillia's dedication to self-improvement is nothing short of incredible.

note: the owner of this website, Bruce Alan Walton, became an extremely influential part of the online extraterrestrial conspiracy circuit by posting what seemed to be arcane knowledge about aliens from the mid 90's onward. Although his name and handle have been largely forgotten, the 'Branton Files' hold a place in alien theory history and still continue to influence it today.

note: at one point in the furry fandom there was a Sacramento-based fraternal society called The Grizzly Den. It doesn't seem to have made much of a mark on the fandom- the founder passed away in 2010, and the only trace left of the society is an archive of its modest homepage.

note: an old classifieds board and link hub for goths that apparently got some media attention in the mid 90's. There's not much left, but you can browse some of the classifieds here and other interesting pages here by searching 'htm' or 'html'. After the original Necrosoft Network went down, the owner began a slightly different venture simply called 'Gothic Classifieds' that ran with an astounding Web 1.0 layout until March or April of 2018.

note: House Kheperu is probably the longest-running online religious movement based on vampirism (at least in terms of the ones with information freely available!). It's interesting looking through the archive to see how the website has changed over the years, and it certainly hasn't been a movement without controversy, which can be found relatively easily if you look around.

note: while this somewhat of a conspiracy theory, it doesn't really fit into Western conspiracy culture like the other 'Conspiracy Theorist' items, so it's going into 'misc'. Still an interesting bit of historical revisionism, though.
