There are just a few days left to get this Gothic Fairytale funded. If you're looking for a rich story that will feel like a classic fairytale, but with a haunting backdrop, check out the Kickstarter page for The Long Death.
Two children escape a plague-ridden village only to find a new nightmare waiting for them deep in the woods. Hansel & Gretel meets The Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets classic ghostly vengeance.
The art is by Anna Wieszczyk, and she creates a dream-like world dripping with a wistful atmosphere, that will take you right inside this world of Forgotten Folklore.

As the tile says. Can you give me some good "afrofuturist"* comic works? I'm specifically looking for more contemporary ones (ie written in the 2010s-present). One example otoh would be the EXO comic.
*ie works set in scifi/scifantasy settings with black and PoC characters, community, and cultures being focused on
Hey /r/indiecomics I'm looking for a short, old comic (possibly web comic?) that I read a long time ago. It was essentially about a mouse who is an assassin and kills other mice for hire. The legal system used is never explicitly explained in the comic, but it's implied that murder is legal and throughout the comic you see mice being killed over small civil disputes or in the middle of a restaurant eating dinner surrounded by other mice. The assassin mouse grapples with his occupation and the world he lives in, despising it, but still wakes up every day to kill more mice. I think in the end he is killed by another assassin mouse, thereby starting the cycle over again. I believe that it was all in back and white. It was a depressing comic to read, but so well made and profound to me that I would love to read it again. I'm sorry if this is against the rules, I just really want to find it.
Also it's not Maus, several people already suggested that to me. The art style is similar to Maus, a bit more simple from what I remember, but the plots differ wildly. We're talking about a different oppressed mouse civilization here.

We’re on a mission to revive the charm of classic Western cartoons through our comic, Wiley Mouse: In The Land That Never Was. The project blends the action of anime with the heart of early Western animations. We’ve hit our initial funding goal and are now pushing towards exciting stretch goals, including an animation adaptation! If you love unique, indie projects that celebrate the roots of cartooning, check out the link in my profile and join the movement. Let’s make this a reality together!
We’re experimenting with a fun new format for the Exodus Z campaign—comment-driven rewards! Instead of just traditional stretch goals, we’re unlocking cool rewards based on the number of unique backer comments. Each backer can comment once, and repeat comments don’t count, so every unique comment helps us reach the next goal!
Here’s what we’re unlocking so far:
Of course, we still have our regular stretch goals in place too, so there’s plenty more to unlock as we keep building momentum.
What do you think of this format? Does it get you more excited to engage, or have you seen other ways to make this kind of system work?
