refusing to eat?

Like the title says, my iguana is refusing to eat it's food and for some reason would much rather cling onto me.

Aside from that problem, I also need some tips on how to insulate my baby's cage for the winter. 🙏

Any tips, information, and recommendations would help! Thank you

This is reptar!

New new year to the iguana owning life my family has two older red and greens. I have a yearling green iguana named Reptar that I am currently trying to embark on this journey with he seems to be warming up to me very well on the three months that I’ve had him, but he’s still very very flighty. I can usually put my hand in next to him next side of the tank and almost pet him on his hands a few times before he gets uncomfortable and dips off, but I’m constantly changing his water changing his food and his tank inside just to know that I can get his trust is what my cousin say I need to do I was wondering if maybe there’s some other things that I could try that you guys know that’ll help me be able to handle him or her more this is my first iguana and I just wanna do the best that I can to keep him or her

New Iguana Enclosure

My Iguana’s cage for my juvenile finally came and I put it together and stuff. Just wanted some advice on any other things I should add. I’m thinking of adding reptisoil and another heat lamp to keep up temperature and humidity. I’m also going to be getting a mister to keep up humidity since it’s a mesh cage. Any other tips?

New enclosure

I need advice on a couple things. Air ventilation: currently the door sits with a 1/4” gap on all edges and a 1/2” slit I left at the bottom to bring cords in. im considering drilling vent holes in other parts of the cage. Heat: the ceramic heater and 2 under tank pads (once Ive added river rocks) seems to have stabilized but the cheap thermostat doesn’t do day/night settings except manually so once the basking lamps heat up the ceramic switches off when ideally it should go up to 90° any controller recommendations appreciated. The lamps being outside: this is 1/2” acrylic and Im going to switch to the 10.0 bulb, maybe enough will get through? Last cage the fixture was inside. I want to get the others through a holes and a grilles or have them be inside with grilles. Drip/mist: purchased the pocket exoterra with 4 extra nozzles and filters need help setting that up for timing, placement.

Anyone else know this? Fascinating

How Fast Do Green Iguanas Run?

An adult green iguana (Iguana iguana) can run at speeds of approximately 20-25 miles per hour (32-40 kilometers per hour) over short distances. However, this high speed is typically achieved when the iguana is startled or feels threatened, and it will sprint to escape predators or danger.

Iguana lying on radiator/heater

Hello there fellow iguana lovers. Im here to ask you a question about iguana lying on radiator/heater (i dont know english word for that) in house. To explain it.. we leave our iguana almost freeroam (we close him in his terrarium at nights but when we are home and igi wants out we let him out) and when he gets out he often explore for a while and then goes on the radiator and lyes there (even sleep there sometimes). Should we let him to do that? I know heating rocks are not good for them and this is kinda similar to it. We ussualy try to put some clothes or blanket under him so the heating is not direct but still..

Thank everybody for contributing and a answering my question

Advice

Hey my sister recently today got a Blue Axanthic Iguana. She ordered the iguana too fast and none of the enclosure or the hides or anything has came yet. I know it’s irresponsible so I’m not asking for backlash or anything but advice instead. I tried putting paper towel on the bottom for him but it keeps sticking to his nails but without it he keeps sliding. Right now we had to go and find a quick temporary 10 gallon tank until his enclosure comes. His enclosure is supposed to come the quickest in 2 days. We bought a UVB light that goes to around 95 degrees fahrenheit for during the day and a heating pad for night since it’s a little cold. We’ve gotten all the food kale, collared greens, fruit, squash, e.t.c but he won’t eat at all. He hasn’t drunk anything either and I’m just afraid he’s in pain.

Is it really that bad??

I posted a Reddit post about my iguana and everyone was lashing out at me in the comments about his tank , everyone was saying that it was way too small for him so here’s a fuller photo. Is it really too small? He is a sick iguana who has kidney failure and liver disease, they told me at the vet this would be the best size tank for him because he can’t climb up really high because of his issues so that would hurt him even more. He was abused by previous owners and they let a cat bite his tail multiple times and they gave him meat so now I’m trying to get him back in the veggies and it’s taking a while. I don’t know how old he is and I feel like I’m just getting full hatred for how “small” his tank is. please let me know what y’all think. This is what they told me to do. The enclosure is 4 x 4 x 2

Help

hi, so this is my iguana rhino and he gets almost black and hasn’t been feeling well and I’m not talking about like the reptile heating pads, but do y’all think it would be OK if you had like the dog or cat heating pads that have like the temperature monitor things on them or possibly a blanket because he loves blankets maybe like a heated blanket or something would that be OK? Please just let me know. I just bought some more heat admitters that don’t have light to try and warm him up but if all else fails, do you think that would be OK, I would never put a reptile mat on him, but I’m just wondering if like a heated blanket or like the cat bed heated mats would be OK thank you so much. Have a lovely day guys.
