How many traumas did you have with this series?
Yes, I am inserting 00 into this clubhouse.
I only have their basic premises, but don't really seem to know what these two shows have in common that make them versus material for each other. Can anyone please explain, and how this even happened? Thanks!

Honestly, EW makes Wing better in retrospect. I brings into question the things brought up in the show, the idea a true pacifism, and it questions if said true pacifism was the right call. Answer, no, it was not, at least not the way it was conceived in the show. To me, s good sequel does one of two things, evolve the story or questions the previous entry, and EW does that. If you want peace then don't force it, choose it. Choose to uphold and keep that peace by choosing not to fight rather than by telling folks that they have to stand aside and refuse to fight no matter what. When the big bad wolf comes aknocking, don't just let him knock you down, bite back to keep that peace.
I saw this every Christmas every year for years and just love the animation (can't beat 90's Gundam OVAs).
One complaint I get from folks is that this story gets boring once the colony drop is stopped and question what was even the point of it. The colony drop was never meant to be a big deal, not the point of the entry. The idea of what peace is and what pacifism should be is the point on EW. I still remember when I ran home from school when this aired on Toonami ND the sight of the Zero custom is one of, if not thé most, iconic scenes in Gundam.
Is it a 10/10? No. But I'd be lying if I told folks it wasn't one of my favorites.
Seeing the Gundam pilots' backstories, seeing the seeds that would lead Heero to be the wanna-be-killing-machine his father wanted him to be contextualizes a lot for his character, and we would've gotten this in the show proper if the original director wasn't so hard to work with and got kicked off, resulting in the meant flashback episodes being turned into recaps instead.
Overall, if I give Wing a 3/5, then EW is a 3.5/5. Not great, but the message is good and having it question it's own message from the show and ask itself if they were right for doing what they did in the show was a great way to keep this entry of the Gundam franchise from repeating the same message again and again lile most other sequels tend to do.
A cutscene from "PANZER FRONT Bis." Sunrise was involved in the production, and the experience gained from this was later put to good use in the production of "MS IGLOO"
