that time someone posted that challenge and everyone had fun doing it and then someone won and got an award? Good times 😊
I've seen a lot of posts about this subreddit being closed. Ant that makes me sad. I came to this subreddit late in my journey, as well as r/pan. I miss the way things were. It's time for things to change. I'm willing to start a Saturday Night Game Night. Kahoots, Skribbl.io, or whatever you guys want. Share this post. Anyone who is interested should comment on the original post on r/GoForGold.
I'm thinking this will be a skribbl.io game, starting 11/16/24 at 9pm EST. We'll go as long as people are interested in playing. I'll post the original room link at 8:30pm EST, and we'll go when the room is full. I'll host a vote on 11/17 as to whether it should be skribbl.io, Kahoots, or something else the following week. We'll go from there.
What do you all think?
Hi, this is my first post here and I just want to say thanks for being so nice!
Edit: Someone got it exactly right! Thanks everyone for playing. More to come.
Rules:

You've worked a lot, take a weekend off. 🥰
I love you more than gold
How does the sub work? It looks interesting, but I don’t understand the purpose of it.
I loved getting a free seal to give to someone with a lovely post
In the realm of virtual cheers, where karma once did gleam,
Reddit's stars of gold were gifts in a digital dream.
Each post, a gleaming treasure, a beacon in the thread,
A reward of worth and wonder for words that others read.
We traded in the currency of gold and silver bright,
An upvote's gentle whisper, a downvote's subtle bite.
A gilded badge of honor, a shimmering delight,
Now lost in the vast echoes of an algorithm’s might.
The threads once brimmed with gold stars, bestowed with thoughtful grace,
Now empty are the riches, now dim the cherished space.
Where is the gilded glory, the shimmer and the shine?
In the new age of rewards, those tokens are now a sign.
Reddit's bounty has withered, its stars no longer shine,
The gold has turned to whispers, the shimmer lost in time.
We long for what was golden, for the worth of days gone by,
In the space where once it glittered, a digital goodbye.
So here’s to the lost treasures, to the rewards that went away,
We miss the gold’s warm luster, and the shine of yesterday.
In the echo of our memories, the gold still brightly gleams,
A relic of the past’s glory, a fragment of our dreams.
Who wants to have a contest for the silliest AI poetry?
It has been almost a year since reddit removed awards, I was very active here previously. Anyways, All good things come to an end
Do you miss the days of GFG challenges? Do you want a chance to have fun with the community? If so, you should sign up for Lanky's Trials today!
Lanky's Trials is a challenge series (similar to The Great Internet Race or The Space Race on r/GoForGold) where contestants will compete in several challenges over the course of 2-3 weeks, and contestants will be eliminated each round until one contestant remains, and they will win 3 months of Discord Nitro Basic!
Challenges may include:
🕹️ Browser/arcade style games
🧩 Timed puzzles
🔎 Estimation challenges
♟️ Social and strategic challenges
📝 And more!
We are also friendly to all timezones, so you won't need to be active at specific times of day. Challenges are posted every 24 hours and can be done each day on your schedule.
Sign up on our Discord Server today! Sign ups will close by the end of August.
Also, whoever comments a link to the funniest SFW and rule-following meme you can find or create will win 20 GFG BUX! Challenge ends about 7 2 days after this challenge is posted.
Extended to give people some more time to enter.
Lanky's Trials is the rebooted version of The Great Internet Race, a challenge series I hosted 6 seasons of on r/GoForGold and Discord a while back. Essentially, there will be a new challenge every day or two, the best performing teams/players get safety and power in the game and the losers are at risk of being eliminated.
Just to get to the point, the season will (most likely) look like:
If you want to join the Discord server for Lanky's Trials, you may join here. Right now it's a read-only archive of most of TGIR's old server, but if and when Lanky's Trials starts, it will be hosted on there.
I really want to make this a thing again for everyone here, and although the 10 or 20 thousand Reddit Coin prize pots can't happen anymore, we still always have each other throughout all of this. Whether or not this happens, I want to say thank you for always being an amazing community.
Give your feedback in the poll below and in the comments. Suggestions are always welcome.
Answer some fun Would You Rather questions for a chance to win 20 GFG Bux!

Hi r/GoForGold! Things have really changed in the last few months around here, but I hope you’re all doing well.
In 2021 and 2022, I hosted six seasons of The Great Internet Race, a multi week Reddit/Discord challenge series where contestants are eliminated until someone wins the grand prize. I then cancelled TGIR 7, renamed Lanky’s Trials, for personal reasons and lower sign up numbers compared to past seasons.
This might be a long shot, since this subreddit is kind of dead lately and games such as TGIR worked better in early 2021 years when I started it since a lot of people were stuck inside. But I’m kind of missing hosting these kind of challenges and think that something like this might bring a little more life into the community here.
It would likely be a very short and simple season to start with just a few players, probably 2-3 weeks of challenges (compared to even the shortest TGIR seasons lasting 5-6 weeks) to keep the commitment short for everyone, and since Reddit awards aren’t really a thing anymore, the prize definitely won’t be as major (most likely just bragging rights and a month or two of Discord Nitro). However, I think it could still be as fun for everyone here.
By all means don’t take this as a “TGIR is coming back” or anything, I just want to see what the community thinks of the idea. I don’t know, but maybe it could bring some people back together.
24hrs
I was thinking Steve.
This sub is unfortunately pretty much dead. :( so what is everyone's favorite cheese? mine is goat cheese.
Hi All, though I don’t have anything to offer, I thought it might be fun to reminisce over fun times that some of you have had in this sub. Please also include your favourite type of ice cream in your response. Not for any weird reason, I’m just interested.
Hey gang, it’s been awhile. Hope y’all are well! If anyone could transcribe the Rhodes chords for the cover of Weird Fishes by Lianne La Havas that would be super cash. I do not have an ear for this stuff so that would be super appreciated!
I will give you a million gfg bux if you do it no lie the bot owes me one.
Cause I don't want to join and find that I am in a dead subreddit...
As per the latest post in r/Reddit awards have been brought back.
However....they won't reinstate coins, will give us meaningless free awards to give that are time barred again (only if you had lots of coins), and very few if any users will get the new gold points from this.
Tbh, I think it's them trying to artificially boost user interactions again to benefit employees with stock options....but who knows what they think.
Just thought I'd post here in our once great forum to share. Source of the Reddit update below

Does anyone know of a pc version of dragon city that is modded?
