Hi all. I have a goose and gander the last 3 years raised from young with chickens. In the spring when day again or gets aggressive, he has attacked chickens repeatedly inside the run. Luckily, I’ve been seriously injured to this point.
Today I came home and found the bottom of the pecking chicken dead, and her face had been mauled. Perhaps it was all the chickens, but most likely the gander.
The run is only locked at times during the winter when there’s so much snow out in the fenced area I don’t let them out .
When they don’t come out, I wonder if they should be separated? It’s not even the aggressive time of year Reid season and the gander a chicken. And it’s only the beginning of the winter.
Recommendations? The chicken run is by omelette. It’s like 23‘ x 13‘.
So back in May my son along with his cousins were at the creek at my parents house fishing when they saw a family of Canada geese. Long story short they started talking to one of the babies and it ended up following them around and by the time they went to leave the whole family had left this little baby behind. We have raised him/her since then and the kids all named it Robin.
Robin has a little wooden house with straw bedding and has grown up eating the bags of duck food you find at Tractor Supply until he could eat grass. Now that Robin’s grown they are pretty much free range but we just got a huge snow storm so I’m assuming we go back to feeding him bagged duck food? My mom also ordered him a some kind of water dish that plugs in.
I’m wondering what else we need to do to keep them safe and alive? We all honestly thought Robin would have flown off by now, but I think we may have accidentally domesticated them and they no longer have any natural instincts.
Such a stupid request, but I can't find any good ones on YouTube, so I would love some help
Maverick has a phone phobia, apparently.
He’s so cute🥹🥹
I'm rotating goats and chicken on pasture using electric fence. Would prefer to have some protective animals inside the fence to raise hell when a predator approaches, but don't trust my dogs to not be predators themselves, besides, a guardian dog would be a huge mouth to feed.
Would like to add a pair of geese as they hopefully can forage just fine, and make enough noise to alert me. Just not sure what breed to go for. African? Chinese?
Yesterday one of my geese died, body was As said in the title. No head or neck, barely any blood too, body completely untouched. I want to know if anybody has had similar experiences, and if they caught the fucker that killed their geese. Because whatever it is I wanna waterboard it.
Four months ago I bought 2 goslings a male and a female and today one of them died and I'm left with one, what should I do?
Does anyone know of any resources or anyone way to find someone who might be willing to take it? He’s a sweetheart you can tell he is used to being around people. Our temperatures can get pretty low here sometimes. I read that it is not good for this breed to spend much time in temps below 25°. I know it’s a long shot but wanted to check.
