was checking out what aylmer area looked like when i was very young and saw this building (see above).

This was from 2009. i was far too young to remember what it was. it’s been torn down and turned into new condo developments and école des cavaliers.

Anybody here know what it was?

Hey, would anyone else have been woken up by an extremely loud engine being revved at night, almost into early hours of the morning in Vieux Hull/Near Prom. Du Portage? It's been a couple times now and I can't stand this obnoxious behavior. It has woken me up a few times now. I'm used to calling in domestic abuse or altercations that happen outside my apartment once in a while, but this engine revving, I'm not sure how to even deal with that as I can't seem to find the car from my windows. I'm surprised the police doesn't stick around my area more considering how many times they are called.

Is there anywhere I can buy peppers hotter than habanero peppers like the Carolina Reaper in Gatineau?

Je voulais avoir un petit quelque chose dans l'estomac (et dans celui de ma fille) avant Halloween donc je suis passé par le nouveau McDo sur Vanier et wow, je n'ai jamais vu une situation aussi chaotique dans un fast food de ma vie. Temps d'attente moyen pour toutes les commandes, environ 45 minutes (il était 4:30). Aucune commande que le staff reussisait à sortir n'était complète.

Un client a demandé un remboursement après une vingtaine de minutes parce qu'il devait aller chercher son enfant à la garderie et les employés écoutaient en disant oui de la tête et après disparaissaient pour ne jamais revenir. Quand je suis parti, un autre 20 minutes plus tard, il n'avait toujours pas réussi à avoir un remboursement.

Plusieurs employés étaient debout autour des écrans et ne faisait absolument rien. Une autre pas en uniforme et en sandales (??) essayait de son mieux.

Endroit à éviter pour le moment...

Why aren't there any kids passing by my house? I bought all this candy, and it's going to waste.

Je voulais juste avoir des avis sur ces deux écoles, le niveau scolaire, à quoi ressemblent les cours, l'environnement, s'il y a du harcèlement ou pas, etc.

Nous allons inscrire notre fils dans les deux écoles mais nous voulons avoir une meilleure idée au cas où nous devrions choisir entre les 2.

My (22m) wife (22f) wants to go trick or treating around our neighborhood for Halloween. She’s set on it and doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with it, but I feel really awkward doing it.

She says she went with friends until she was an older teenager, and only stopped cause of Covid.

She looks young so she could still probably pass for a teen, but I have a beard and am very obviously an adult man.

I’m scared of people looking at us weird but she thinks I’m just being paranoid, and that most people wouldn’t have any problem with us.

To you, the people of Gatineau, would you turn away two young adults trick or treating without a child?

UPDATE: We went, but I didn’t want people to feel like we were stealing their candy or taking advantage, so I bought a bunch of mini-bottles of pink lemonade vodka from the LCBO and traded them with the adults for candy.

All were appreciative and we even had some people who commented that they were glad to see adults trick or treating.

Even those who politely declined the booze still gave us candy and found our idea amusing. Now we have enough candy to last us a long time. I guess it was a bad month for me to go on a diet lol.

I am seeing bad reviews here. I have an option to rent this short term for 5 months. Will I have issues? Or has any thing change recently in management to make things better?

Obviously I don't know. The more I read the more complicated it gets. How does it work? Is CEGEP a must ? Some universities say, not really but then have to take extra courses pre-uni. So confusing. The goal is to get into health. Let me know if can answer any question to make this easier. Thanks.

We used to live in Aylmer and everywhere there were decorations and people giving candies. We moved to Gatineau side (I know Aylmer is Gat but you got the point) last year and there was nothing in our neighborhood. I took my daughter to the dentist tonight and when driving back she was disappointed and said why there are no decorations anywhere here?

Anyway, where would you go?

It's in my best interest to make friends, and to meet my potential girlfriend. I'm up to do whatever's like go to the promenade and hangout if anyone is interested. My life right now is sickening, just the feeling of not being alone would be a life saver.

I moved here a year ago with my fiancé and noticed a large amount of stray cats in my area. We already took one in (making 3 in total for us) and are at capacity. There is a very sweet male cat that always tries to come in my apartment with me when I open the door and I feel really bad for not being able to help him more than providing food. He lives in the abandoned garage next door and is super friendly to humans and even with a couple of my cats. I feel terrible that I can’t help more with winter coming and was wondering if anyone know any ways I might be able to help him out more.
