The most beautiful album I've ever heard

Hi all :) Sorry if this has been posted before, but this album is so beautiful it hurts. I've been listening to it with headphones on and my heart aches. Just needed to post it somewhere.

Hope everyone is having a good week. ♥️

Recommend me some ocean themed bands please

I’d like some funeral doom that sounds like I’m in the depths of the ocean, crushing depths

More mainly acoustic tracks like Empirical Choirs by Mournful Congregation?

They have always stuck out to me because of how beautiful and melodic they are without sacrificing what makes funeral doom so good. This particular track was always interesting, it's not much different from the rest of the album despite being mostly acoustic the entire song. Any other good examples of this from other bands? I don't mean a short instrumental or interlude. I also have considered dark folk or something similar, but I wasn't sure what to look for and this has the particular vibe I want.

Hello. I'm in search of (if that really makes sense) the Darkest and most melancholic funeral doom or something in style of Colosseum or Frowning. Do you also perhaps know why Colosseum was taken down on spotify?

Good recs

I've been fascinated with the idea of funeral doom for a long while, and you would think I would be more into the genre considering I'm a huge dsbm fan. However, I haven't found many FD projects that I've liked. Mostly because they have alot of vlean vocals, and I'm not a huge fan of those. So I'm asking, anybody got any good funeral doom recs that don't use alot or any clean vocals?

For refrence, the two funeral doom bands I do like and listent to are wormphlegm and nortt

Cello loop/drums

Running into a rc1 and a tripple rec....

I looped this pretty thing on my cello with some reverb and delay.

It felt right and with the addition of this simple beat I thought it really hit a spot. Its not crushing, but it does carry a sweet outro feel to it.

I am looking for people to collaborate with. Even if just for recording. My bandcamp is hollowpsalms.bandcamp.com

Anyone in Seattle looking for a cello player? Hoping to join a crushing doom/maybe even back metal in the way of ludicra band.

Recommend me some bands that have surreal imagery in their lyrics?

Example: Tyranny, Bell Witch

Think: David Lynch, Dali, Comte de Lautréamont

Thergothon’s Stream from The Heavens is similar to Alice In Chains’ later 1996 self-titled album?

I’m discussing this here since I figured the topic would be appropriate for the purpose of this subreddit.

The other day, I showed to my dad Thergothon’s 1994 “Stream From The Heavens” album while I was taking a car ride with him. My dad is most familiar with the 90’s sound of sludgy, slow, doomy, and cavernous variations on grunge, classic rock, and punk rock, bands like Melvins and Soundgarden for example.

While listening to the album, he commented that “it sounded like some sort of depressive Finnish death metal version of Alice In Chains”

Which leads me to wonder… out of context, the comparison doesn’t make sense considering the fact that Thergothon is in a completely different, underground world compared to AiC.

However, when you take into account the large amount of doom metal and sludge metal influences on AiC’s self-titled album, that slow, sludgy, and cavernous experience of the riffs and atmosphere, and consider Thergothon’s approach to making very slow, sludgy funeral doom/death… the comparison is kinda justifiable and I’d say even noticeable in a way.

Does anyone notice comparable parallels between Alice In Chains’ 1996 doom era and Thergothon’s only ablum?

Eyðimörkin CD available now

I am pleased to announce that you can now pre-order Eyðimörkin on CD! The release features remastered audio and new original artwork! This limited first edition will be printed in only 66 copies.

“Eyðimörkin” consists of a single track lasting over half an hour, a profound initiatory experience, introspective and transformative, a shamanic journey to our innermost selves through an atavistic desert in pursuit of what some call redemption, a colossal theme of deeply personal and emotional funeral doom overloaded with signals, ancient voices recognizable only to the soul, imbued with ritualistic sounds and shrouded in a deeply dark and enigmatic aura, a brillant find for fans of bands like Dolorian, Hipoxia, Skepticism, or Thergothon...

“Eyðimörkin” is presented as a unique edition, limited to only 66 hand-numbered copies. It comes in a luxurious oversized 4-panel digifile, meticulously handcrafted from heavyweight paper, enhanced with an exclusive soft-touch matte laminate, and accompanied by a printed cardboard sleeve to protect the CD, and it also includes a free digital download card for the album and, to top it off, all the material has been completely remastered exclusively for this edition, elevating its sound quality and emotional depth far beyond the original...
