Long shot… but I’m looking for help installing cruise in my ranger, just seeing if on the off chance anyone is local and has done it before.
I think it's a vacuum line but can't find where it is supposed to go or where it came from
Just got my rear drums and master cylinder, any tips or tricks I should know or is it pretty much straight forward from here?
I’m getting oil all over the chassis and can’t pin point a location. Some drips on the oil filter. I’m not much of a mechanic so anything more than changing oil is foreign to me
Edit: does not seem to be leaking when engine is off. Just when running/ idling
Just bought a ranger and it started having issues the next day, I took it in to a shop and their diagnosis is in the photo. I drove it home and plan on working on it myself, but not sure where to start. Hoping someone with more experience can point me in the right direction.
1 this is my first manual transmission vehicle and im wondering if while changing the fluid if im supposed to be parked in 1st gear or neutral 2 what transmission fluid is like actually recommended for the manual 2.3L trucks from this year? ive heard ATF and oil and im just confused any actual advise would help for both questions ty!
I’m tryna find a proper muffler system for my 06 Ranger, she’s a 2.3l tho so I really only see systems for 4.0’s does anyone have any recommendations?
I have a 2003 standard cab 4x4 with the 4.0 and 5r55e. I just recently rebuilt the tranny and after getting it installed it has a strange shifting issue. When shifting normally from say park to drive or reverse or neutral into drive it acts like it stays in neutral, but if I shift down to 1st or 2nd then back to drive it works and drives normal and shifts through all gears fine, has anybody had anything similar happen or any ideas. I’ve tried adjusting the range sensor/nss and the shift linkage but have not ruled those out. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, picked up a 98 ranger 2.5l with an automatic transmission a few months ago and noticing what seems to be a bit of slipping in 1st gear. It ONLY happens when the truck is first warming up. It will rev/slip a bit, then catch the gear. After that it will shift totally fine for the rest of the drive. It's a bit slow to shift into drive and reverse. Doesn't happen every time but is consistent enough to be concerning. Is the trans shot or is this something that can be worked on?
Everything currently works fine, I just know how things can go and would rather have it correct so it doesn't leave me walking some day.
Hi there Could You advise please, is there any recommended speed limit for 4wd mode and Lowered gear mode?
Ranger 2001 2.5d manual Cheers from Ukraine
Thx a lot!
I have an ABS light on the dash that’s been on since I bought the truck (‘96 B2300), however there’s no apparent ABS equipment in the truck. Looks like the previous owner might have ripped out the ABS as I see there looks to be clips and holes where it should be. 2 questions: how can I tell if the truck came with ABS originally, and how do I get rid of the ABS light?

I’ve had this problem for a while now and just recently I’ve been noticing it’s more happening more often. A loud chirp usually comes up when the thermostat is not fully warm yet, accelerating from a stop, and around 2-3k rpm. Usually no chirp/sound when fully hot and at highway speeds. Doesn’t seem like a belt issue. Think it’s the cam synchronizer. No CEG. Any tips?
My rear window is loose on the top passenger side, and when I looked behind it to make sure the mounting bolts were still there, I found what looks to be a bolt held in place with rubber. Is there supposed to be a nut here, or is this just how they are? All of the bolts are held in like this, but this one seems to have failed. It's a 96 XLT extended cab with a sliding back glass of that helps.
Hey I have a 95 Mazda b2300 with a 2.3L inline 4 or Ford ranger base model I've been looking online and can't seem to find a diagram for a the vacuum lines anyone have one?
I just got this 97 ranger and I want to slam it. what suspension would I need?
Gots a question for you good folks, I've been suspicious of my fuel economy when the tank is full for a while, so instead of measuring it full to empty (which usually comes at around 13-15 mpg) I measured it from full to about 3/4 tank, and I got 10 mpg, this is really confusing to me, I reckon my first troubleshooting will be the feul pressure regulator and the pressure on the fuel rail, any ideas, anyone experience this before? 1999 Ford ranger, 4L V6, automatic transmission, 4WD, XLT
Trying to find a cleanish 4x4 ranger in north Texas.
Am I wild for thinking there would be someone out there that would trade a clean title for some firearm goodness?
What’s the best way to look for one in/around the Denton/Decatur area?
‘06 2.3L manual. i was driving the other day and suddenly smelled really strong sulfur/rotten egg smell, lasted at least 4 minutes, i was on surface streets not going above 35mph and not accelerating fast. Eventually it went away and i don’t think i’ve smelled anything since, i thought i got a faint whiff but can’t be sure, it’s been about 4 days. No weird sounds or other issues. Also the car was inspected like 2 weeks ago and passed emission test. Is there a reason it would smell so strong and then not again? is it worth taking to the shop for them to check out?
Got an old (2001) Ford Ranger off a buddy of mine a few months back. Ran smooth til today when it just started making this sound on idle. Started out of nowhere and is progressively getting worse/louder. I’m currently stuck at work so I have t had the chance to drive on it like this (not sure how safe that would be) so I’m hoping someone smarter than me could let me know what they think it might be or what troubleshooting I may need to do to figure it out? TYIA.
