1989 Ford Ranger fuel pump wiring diagram

I purchased an 89 Ranger with a 2.3L today and the fuel pump isn't getting power, does anybody know where to find a diagram for what all the wires AT the fuel pump do? I have one for the front end of the wiring but not where they all actually end up. The ignition cylinder also doesn't seem to work correctly which could be causing the issues.

Preparing for the inevitable engine replacement

When my engine in my 4L v6 94 ranger inevitably blows up what’s a good option for replacement. I’m thinking a Crate motor or a total rebuild. It’s bone stock and it’s 220k miles on it right now. How long are rebuilds good for?

Engine swap

Currently trying to engine swap a 2000 4.0 ohv from a 5 speed into a 1996 with the 5r44e, the flexplate, trans bolts, and threads in the engine don’t match up. Has anyone encountered this before and is there a way around it like some sort of adapter, probably should have researched a little more before buying a new engine but anyways thanks for any help !

Wildtrak / sport wheels to XL next gen ranger

Hi everyone, new ranger owner here. Unfortunately could only get the XL due to limited budget. Was looking to change up the wheels to improve the look. I can see a bunch of sport/wildtrak/raptor wheels for sale 2nd hand and virtually bnew due to the owners changing the wheels immediately after getting their cars. My only concern is if they would fit?

Thanks!

Update on the 500$ Ranger

The 500$ ranger is home safe and after some VERY basic troibleshooting the fuel pump is not priming. The key tumbler feels like Jello, so it makes me wonder if it's not getting any signal from it. There is a pre cut hole in the bed for the pump and it actually looks pretty new but will be testing it soon. Will post more photos tomorrow.

1991 4x4 for 2k?

I might be buying a 1991 4x4 with 320587km on it with a 2.9v6 and a 5 speed, how good of a deal is 2000 CAD?

I don't see any noticeable rust outside of some surface shit on the door bottoms but there's no obscene holes or anything, single cab shortbed with a cap. Gotta go look at it first in person but I don't see anything wrong with it for a 33 year old truck with 320k on it.

Any problems I should know revolving around the 2.9 and what's the average MPG I should expect? I'm guessing probably like 12-16.

4WD -> 2WD

I have a 2000 B4000 with the vacuum actuated 4wd and can’t find automatic lockers (any links to them with o rings appreciated) or the O rings for the hub assembly. I have removed the passenger cv shaft and both hub lockers. The front driveshaft is also out from when I was losing my mind trying to diagnose the symptom which is another story lol. My main question however is do yall think it’s fine to drive it with the non serviceable 4wd hubs? In theory the CV shaft and axle nut is what holds the hub together but 98-2000 with pulse vacuum 4wd just a little snap ring so idk if that applies, and I think the hub is designed to be non serviceable. It’s held to the knunckle with 3 big 15mm bolts. Any knowledge or experience helps

Here is a link These are the hubs I am talking about

P0171 : runs great, idles super rough. Any ideas?

Hi all! Really glad i stumbled on this sub. I love my Ranger!

This issue started after I let the fuel gauge get a little lower than I should. I have replaced: the fuel filter, plugs, distributor, the IACV, and cleaned the mass flow in the intake.

I don’t think it’s an issue with the fuel pump because it runs just fine as long as it’s not in neutral. This is a 2002 5 speed 2.3l

My next thought was a vacuum leak, but I’ve honestly never diagnosed leaks before. Any other sensors to check?

Thanks!

Radio won't shut off

Got a 94 ranger that I bought not too long ago and it had a single din bluetooth unit in it. It originally wouldnt turn on at all, so I pulled the unit out, unplugged it, and plugged it back in. Now it doesn't seem to shut off completely. If I pull the key out of the ignition, it just stays on. I can power it down manually, but I still seems to be sipping power becuase if I let the truck sit for a week, the battery is completely dead.

Will My Ford Ranger Survive a 2500kg load?

Can a 2005 Ford Ranger 2.5L Diesel (Single Cab, 4x2) carry a 2500kg load without breaking, if only driven at 5kmph? What are the risks? Thank you so much!

03 Ford Ranger not blowing cold air AC

blows hot air fine but the winter is over and I am in phoenix so i need this fixed asap lol

anyways it appears the compressor runs for 3 seconds and stops for 5 , no cold air at all. Tried adding freon but the pressure on the can was fine ( not sure if I did it 100%right)

the fuse also seems to be ok .

is the compressor broken ? is it worth replacing the fuse ? should I try adding more freon even though the can showed pressure at green? (40psi)

thanks for any help

2021 Ford Ranger STX (7500 Towing Package)

Hi everyone i own a 2021 ford ranger STX with 36k miles on it. I haven’t towed with it yet, but was wondering how hard it would be on my vehicle if I continuously pulled my 4,000 pound camper behind it? I’m talking like 500-1000 mile trips every couple months. Would it be to hard on it? Or is my truck more than capable? It is only 2wd btw.

Still having electrical problems. Help.

My taillights, dash and parking lights all don't work. I checked the fuses, rear plugs of wiring harness, took off tow package and replaced the switch. None of these helped. Im at a total loss.

New 88 regular cab needs a bench seat

I'm not much of a car guy and I don't know what seats are compatible for the 1988 Ford Ranger. Mine came with a split bench seat, but it needs to be replaced and is completely detached. Any pointers?

Which eBay clutch is >good enough< for the '99 2.5l

I've recently found a good opportunity to get this truck the catch is that the clutch is on its last 1000 miles or something. Long story short is it's in my driveway and I'm looking online, but could use some extra knowledge from the hivemind about the right products I should be looking for.. I'm damn broke and been for a moment but can scrounge about $200. P.S. I also might add that I'll be learning how to drive a standard on this clutch.

HALP

4x4 XLT 2003 manual

Sorry for the novel. Just trying to be detailed.

My truck would struggle to turn over sometimes but always would since I got it. With winter it’d struggle on the cold mornings but always started up. Figured change the battery at some point.

Recently, I went to go to the dog park before work one morning and it wouldn’t turn over. Rolled her down the hill and started right up. Went to the park and checked the voltage, which was at 12.5V as I parked.

As I got back in after 45 mins. She wouldn’t turn over and the battery was around 10V making a lot of weird clicking noises when I’d open the door or turn on the dash, even with the key out.

Put in a new battery and same issue but 7V.

Friend put new terminal cables in and a starter.

He had no issues and when I got it she fired right up no problem. Difference was night and day.

Then, I went to start it up and it wouldn’t turn over at all. No clicking, dash lights/radio were all normal, and voltage was 12.5V. She eventually fired back up after a few tries.

Parked when I got home. Wouldn’t start but did a few times after it didn’t then nothing again.

It can’t be the alternator because while driving id plug in my FM transmitter and the battery would read 14.4V then 12.5V when I parked.

I’m thinking the ignition? I’d stall her more than often not because I’m learning stick but I suck at it and forget I’m in gear during traffic sometimes with stop and go🥹or maybe a loose or corroded wire somewhere drawing power? I’m not too mechanically savvy. Just already dumped a grand into it. Just want ideas where to look next.

Almost 2 years with this Ranger

I've been with this Ranger 2.8 Powerstroke for almost 2 years now, and I'm loving it. Currently, I'm using a 2" lift and 33" mud tires.

Doing upper control arms today, does it matter how I install new camber plates/bolts if im getting an alignment after?

My ranger doesnt have any. After watching videos I understand how to do them. But Im unsure if the plate should be pointed at a certain direction (up or sideways) or if i should just say point the plate upwards and call it a day (Im probably going to copy the directions of my old, non camber plates). I live 5 mins down (a slow town road) of the shop im going to use for alignment. Ill be doing both upper control arms, tie end rods. Will i be okay to drive down there? Also ill preload the bushings when I tighten the control arms, but would I have to torque spec them to a certain foot lbs? They'll be loosened up anyways for the alignment, so I may just hand tighten them good and call it a day

Tire size options after lift

Looking to do a 3-4 inch lift on my 97 ranger. I'm currently on 31x10.5R15 BFG mud terrains, but looking to change to 33x10.5R15 BFG KO2's. Will 33s fit fine with that size of lift?

Thinking about getting a Ranger

Growing up my grandfather went through at least 3 Rangers that I remember. All three were manuals with a 4 cylinder. I remember when he sold two of them, both had over 400k miles on them. One had close to 600k. So I know they’re incredibly reliable if they’re taken care of. 4 cylinders and manual transmissions are some of the simplest powertrains in vehicles. What are common issues to expect with these? I know Ford made literally millions of them, are parts for 3rd generation rangers still available by OEMs or is it just all aftermarket now?

I’m considering getting anything between 2000 - 2011. 2WD is fine. 4WD is a plus. Single cab is fine and I really don’t have much opinion about the XL/XLT. I would like to keep it between 100,000 and 150,000 miles. What is a ball park price I can expect to pay for something like this?

Prices online seem to be anywhere between $7k and $20k. I really don’t know what is high or even how high, say $9k is. Honestly it all seems like these sellers are pretty fucking proud of what they got and I’m kinda inclined to let them keep it with these prices.

Lifts?

I got this 2011 beauty and I'm looking to lift it around 2" in the rear and 3" in the front. I've heard of the "Torch off-road" lift, but not many others that would be capability, given the year and traction control sensor. Also, looking to get bigger tires, any suggestions?
