Reminder: Gap Week Fun Races - Tuesday (12/17/24)

Tuesday 12/17/24 will be a night of fun, weird, and crazy races. People have requested ideas for races throughout the seasons now is your chance to make them reality.

Gap Week Fun Lobby Opens: 7:00pm Central.

Game: Forza Motorsport 8

Everyone is welcome to participate, the more the merrier.

https://preview.redd.it/gl6egis4fb7e1.png?width=3840&format=png&auto=webp&s=eaf0c8d4577ed0b4fa24e414529c767f2d883bd3

Ideas for races:

  • "Weekend at Bernese" . Two teams each have a "dead" car to try to get to the finish. It's basically Cat and Mouse, but the mice have 0 HP.
  • Team Relay Races
  • Long Jump Competition at Nürburgring Chicane
  • Class Racing but we run the reverse layout of tracks that don't have a reverse layout.
  • Forward/Reverse Racing - Lobby is split into two groups, one group races the track forward, the other group races the track in reverse. The narrower the track the wilder the racing.
  • Joker Lap Racing - drivers must use a longer route for one lap of the race. (track suggestions needed)
  • Full assists racing. Drivers can only hold the throttle. AKA Slot Cars
  • Reverse gear only race: Everyone races in reverse
  • Make Suggestions!

r/FM4 Ovalganza - Tuesday (12/10/24)

It's here again the event all of r/FM4 has been talking about it's the #moreovals Ovalganza!

  • Tuesday (12/10/24) - 7:00pm central
  • Game: Forza Motorsport 8

https://preview.redd.it/myfqey8na54e1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e5d4482d3fb6ccb7aee85cfeefa1e435b4439f39

What is an Ovalganza? Why it's only the choicest r/FM4 cars hand picked and carefully tuned to go left for your enjoyment. That's right we are revisiting some of our favorite oval races form seasons past in this one night only extra special left turn spectacular!

Event Schedule:

Builds/Tunes:

Cars will need to be built to the spec raced during their season. Links to these builds provided above. Tuning is open, but if you don't want to build and tune several of us still have tunes shared from these seasons.

Race Procedure:

Grid ordering will be random. Delayed Starts; drivers load into the race and remain stationary. All drivers must remain stationary for the first 10 seconds. The driver on the pole is then given a 10 second window in which they can start the race , motion from the pole car is the green flag. (Start window is race timer second 10 to second 20). There are no points up for grabs so we will be running with FRR off and racing to the checkered flag (there will be no cool down lap).

Cautions:

For this event we will be implementing cautions. A caution may be called if three or more cars spin and/or are significantly off track. It is the responsibility of the drivers involved to call the caution by saying the word "caution". If you are referring to cautions but don't intend on calling one, think of some other word to avoid confusion. You can do it. We believe in you. Cautions may no longer be called once there are three laps remaining in the race. Once a caution has been called, the leader will slow to a cautious pace and allow everyone to catch up and form a single-file line. Ideally this would take less than 1 lap, so the leader should adjust their speed accordingly or fully stop. Racing will resume once the leader reaches the start/finish line after the field has regrouped. Everyone may go as soon as the leader goes.

Vinyls have been shared by SlowMotionFire with the official r/FM4 Ovalganza logo they can be found by searching by SlowMotionFire's gamertag or by searching for "r/FM4 Ovalganza"

Spots are awarded on a first come first served basis, don't want to miss the fun, get in the lobby early.

We are using discord for voice chat during the race. Drivers are required to be in the Discord voice chat during race events. This is where I organize and moderate the race from. All drivers must be able to hear me in the event of restarts, cautions, etc. It just helps keep the night running smoothly Discord Link

r/FM4 Historics - Tuesday (12/3/24)

It's time to blow the dust off your old race cars and bring them back out to the track for this r/FM4 Historics event.

  • Tuesday 12/3/24 - 7:00pm central
  • Game: Forza Motorsport 8

https://preview.redd.it/aa8krxzgoc2e1.jpg?width=785&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07a0a4d7598d45dcd883a6851385415f8f6ccfe0

This event will allow you to use any of the car builds still available to us within Forza Motorsport 8. We will be running ten races spread across the six classes and should last around two hours. The tracks will be kept a mystery to discourage overachieving drivers from cherry picking the best builds. Because this is an exhibition style event there will be no points and damage will be set to Fuel and Tires Only.

Vinyls have been shared by SlowMotionFire with the official FM4 Historics logo they can be found by searching by SlowMotionFire's gamertag or by searching for "FM4 Historics"

Here are the cars that can be used for each class with links to their build documents. Please have the cars you intend to race built and ready so we can keep the night running at a smooth pace. Driver's will only be able to run each car once. Example: There are two A-Class races so driver's will need to have two A-Class cars prepared.

Please note that there maybe some PI inconsistencies in FM8 with the builds from other games. Just follow the builds as close as you can if the PI is off it isn't a big deal.

A-Class (2 Races)

B-Class (2 Races)

C-Class (2 Races)

D-Class (1 Race)

Notice: I would like to remind everyone running in the series that you need to be in the discord chat during the race. The discord chat is where i marshal the race from and i need all racers to be able to hear me in the event of a restart, etc. Thank you for understanding. be short sprint type races. We will also run thru a qualifying example and race start procedures.

Reminder on lap traffic: Here is what we expect at  . The responsibility is always on the overtaking driver to pass cleanly this applies to passes for position and for lap traffic. Overtaking drivers you do not own the "racing line". If you are a driver being lapped "Don't be "nice", be predictable." Do not swerve back and forth to avoid the "racing line" swerving like this just makes you unpredictable. Continue to run the same line you have been running. We have the advantage of being able to talk with each other please use this to coordinate passes.

Reminder on Track Limits: I know we are a lot more relaxed when it comes to track limits than other series out there, but we still expect drivers to race fairly. The general rule is that drivers are allowed to use all the curbing regardless of what is Forza "clean". Special cases my be allowed NASCAR lines etc. and these will be made clear to drivers before each event. Here is what we expect to see from driver's who fail to make a corner. Driver's should lift and give back any positions or ground that was gained making every effort to do so safely and cleanly, yielding to any cars on the race track.
