"Hello everyone, has anyone tried the new RainFilter FX plugin from Pixel Film Studio? I'd love to know how it performs in Final Cut Pro and what the overall experience is like. If anyone has any information or feedback, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!" https://store.pixelfilmstudios.com/product/rainfilter-fx/
Hello, I'm currently trying to get into doing fan edits in Final Cut Pro on my MacBook Pro, but I am having a little trouble in understanding all of the necessary steps that I need to take in order to get started. I've yet to purchase Final Cut Pro, but from what I've read, I need to convert my media to a specific video codec.
I've read that Apple ProRes is a recommended choice by many. I've already ripped the files I want to edit into a MKV, with a H264-MPEG-4 codec and 1920x1080 resolution.
Would Shutter Encoder be a good program for converting to Apple ProRes for the best video quality, and are there any other steps that I need to take before I purchase Final Cut Pro? Also, can someone point me to a good Final Cut Pro video tutorial?
Thanks in advance for the help!
Just installed FCP for iPad to see how editing on my iPad fairs in comparison to on a Mac. Still getting to learn all the ins and outs of it but was wondering if anyone had some good workflow tips/pointers/hacks to check out. I’m still very much a novice when it comes to video editing so really I’m just looking to cut clips quicker and basically just be more efficient overall. I am still extremely green in the editing realm but have really been grinding away at it over the last month or so. Thanks in advance
I keep my videos 4 to 6 min but this was done for my son in law after a long xcountry trip on his Harley with a friend. It runs 24min or so. Most of the footage is from a GoPro of some years ago so not terribly stable but it is what it is. Hope you enjoy it.
My pc atm, 5900x 3070ti 32gb ram, premiere pro. Tired of Adobe and the new M4 mini has caught my attention as well as the fcp UI. Thinking I can just share files between pc and Mac over my network. Will MP4s need to be transcoded for smooth editing in fcp? Mostly 1080p video atm.
Anyone here use pc and Mac in a similar way? Any tips or things to watch out for?
I started a podcast and we film in 4K. When I try to Multicam edit in 4K, maybe because of my old ass MacBook, it just ran slower. After trying a million things (deleting everything google) I just tried Multicam editing in 1080 and it was perfect.
SO can I just edit the 4k footage on a 1080 project so it's quicker and easier, then before exporting change the project to 4K and render it again? Or will having edited it in 1080 change the original footage used and mess it up when changing it back to 4k?
I’ve added just a sample in here https://jmp.sh/s/DhJWUvBJO5Xfdato8LN0
Im a beginner when comes to audio. I had this recording out from a bad microphone, and I would like to make it sound better but I don’t know what could I do?
All Ive done so far is used some plugins on FCPX like noise reduction and compressor, and added room tone in there. Thank you!
Pretty much what the title says. Every time I apply it, it adds the effect to the whole screen. Thanks
Hi there been using fcp7 and now fcpx for 10+ years now just curious what are some must haves/tips you all have been using and can’t imagine workflow without it!
I'm attempting to make some Luts from the plugin though I am unsure how. Does anyone have any insight into doing this? My process is adding the plugin to an adjustment layer. Finding the main look I am going for then tweaking based on each shot. It's slow moving. Also the color grading with non the plugin is somewhat fickle...or maybe is so far from the color wheels within FCP I'm having a hard time adjusting. I know what I am doing but not always why I am doing it. I would love to find some color science classes. I digress. If anyone has input on creating a kit from Film Convert let me know.
hi guys, which is the best free pack for transition in Final Cut?
about to loose my mind. started having issues this morning & I saw FCP11 was available so I downloaded that thinking outdated software could be the issue.
I have a 2023 Mac Studio M2 Max chip with 64 gb memory & using an external hard drive configured for Mac (nowhere near full). So far I've restarted the computer, reset preferences, turned off background rendering, created a new library. FCP is the only app running & raw footage of any one project is max 30 minutes.
No other app is causing problems. any ideas?
I'm not sure how else to title this, really.
I have a 60 minute interview that I need to go through and cut into different topics, then from those, pick the best pieces for the short highlight video.
Going through the full clip now - is there a way to leave a note for certain timeframes of what those topics could be, so I could more easily find what I'm looking for?
I don't know if that makes ANY sense at all. 😂
Hope someone can understand and offer some insight, thank you!
Hi guys, I need help.
I'm starting to learn how to use Final Cut (I've always had Windows and I'm starting from scratch).
I'd like to know how to zoom in and out on the timeline so I can see in detail what's in each frame of each file.
I'd also like to know if there's a way to change the functions and shortcuts for each key.
I hope you can help me. Oh, something important, I'm working with an external keyboard and mouse, not with the Mac's track and keyboard.
Thanks.
Running an M2 Max Macbook Pro -- almost never an issue with exporting in 10. Virtually perfect. Exporting screenshots as well worked perfectly.
Since updating, I swear exporting takes twice as long. And the screenshots when I try to save one through Final Cut Pro 11 are actually broken. Darkens the image by a full stop nomatter the file type.
Anyone else experience these issues? Considering rolling back if possible because magnetic mask doesn't seem worth all the fucking downsides this is presenting me.
Apple has been boasting a lot lately about how they've improved the integration of Voice Memos with Notes and Reminders, added transcriptions (with Apple silicon), etc.
I used Voice Memos to record an audio track for a video I'm working on, and tried dragging and dropping it into a FCP event. No can do. FWIW, iMovie fails as well.
There is a hack. With the Finder, go to:
Users/Username/Library/Group Containers/group.com.apple.VoiceMemos.shared/Recordings
Obviously replacing "Username" with yours. There you will find an m4a file with your audio that you can drag-n-drop into FCP.
Sigh.
Is there any method to add romanian language subtitles to an english podcast on video? I edit in FCP X, but have issues with adding them. I also use captions AI but it only works with videos less then 10 mins. Someone can help me?
Is there a maximum length to a multicam video that I make using Final Cut camera? Or can I continue to record until I run out of storage? I know that on mirrorless cameras there is a maximum length that they can record video on the card.
updated mine from 10.6.2 to 11 and now SOME plugins aren't working.
EDITING the OZML and DISPLAY VERSION works before woth FCPX but this method is not working now on 11.
Hey everyone,
I'm trying to delete some saved text styles in Final Cut Pro, but I'm running into an issue. Everywhere I look, people are saying to go to:
User -> Library -> Application Support -> Motion -> Library -> Text Styles
But when I follow this route, the "Text Styles" folder isn't there at all. However, I do have custom text styles available in FCP, so they have to be stored somewhere.
Has anyone else run into this issue? Are they stored in a different location in newer versions of FCP? Or is there another way to delete them?
I’d really appreciate any help—this is driving me crazy! 😅
Thanks in advance!
My fcp library filled up my entire 2 TB Samsung T7. That’s including the optimized media, original media, and proxy media. I still have a lot more editing to do on this project and looking for advice on what the best thing to do would be. Should I buy a 4TB SSD and copy the files? Not sure how well that would go. Also, I’ve seen a lot of stuff about consolidating media and cleaning some background stuff that could free up space. However, this project is very important and I don’t want to lose any footage or any progress. If that is a solution anyone know the best way to do that? Thanks guys!
Hey guys reaching out cause I’m having some issues with relinking media on a library. Some background info is that this is a huge library. 2 TB worth. It’s a 30 minute documentary project and it’s very valuable. The original library is on a Samsung T7. I wanted to copy the entire library to a different SSD to work as a backup. I copied the library and the Final Cut files that went along with it onto the drive. Once I went to check to see if the back up worked none of the footage or media was linked. I went to link it all and here we are. Not sure what to do. It’s been like this for little over an hour. Is it supposed to take this long?I don’t want to mess with anything in fear of screwing something up. Thoughts?
Anybody know how to achieve this effect? I know it’s not cross dissolve the way it lines up is so nice if anyone knows the name. Thank you!
Hello I'm trying to convert MiniDV footage from DV to HDV. I am working with Final Cut Pro 7, and the timeline does not allow me to include both video formats; only one or the other. Most of my footage is shot in HDV, but not all of it. I am using a Sony Digital HD Videocassette Recorder connected to my MAC, which allows me to playback and add footage to Final Cut Pro. What is the best way to convert DV to HDV, without sending my footage away to digitizing services? Thank you!
Just finished up a project that is some training content for a corporation and they’ve requested captions. I’m running FCP 11 and cannot find the feature anywhere. I used a multicam clip to edit the content could that be the issue? I’ve tried detaching the audio and selecting just the audio file but the option to transcribe isn’t in any of the caption menus, magic wand or under the shortcut. Not even greyed out, it’s just not there. I am behind on OS 14.xx maybe that’s the issue here?
This is purely curiosity.
Since Final Cut Pro 10.0.0 was released in June 2011, what features do you consider to be major improvements, game-changers, essential, super handy, etc.
Here are a few that I can think of:
