Each week i have to export a 1-2 hour video which is just a bunch of smaller clips with some motion stabilisation and colour adjustments but otherwise is left how it is, i’m proficient enough in both final cut and imovie to do this however have been using imovie for simplicity for the last few months, is there any benifet of switching to final cut? does the rendering of simple videos benefit much from final cut?

After I import my clips from my Mac, there tends to be 1-2 clips that have a 1 second (really small) video lag. I've tried switching import settings from "copy to storage location" to "leave files in place," but that didn't help. I've also tried installing and reinstalling FCP. Any thoughts?

I have seen a ton of threads on this but no answers that have worked. I am in this same situation and I can't open a project I have put hundreds of hours in and none of the backups work either. Has anyone had any luck necessitating a library that gets a the dreaded "is damaged and cannot be updated."?

Hi! My FCP library is taking up 30 gigs on my computer and I cannot figure out how. I went through and deleted every file in my library and tried the delete generated library files hack that comes up when I search for help online. Hey everyone! I’m on the hunt for a Final Cut Pro tutorial that's similar in tone to Andrew Price's (Blender Guru) Blender donut tutorial;

Which is to say something that uses a fun "dummy" project with a clear final goal, that organically covers all aspects of FCPX in a way that feels necessary to progress said project toward completion.

So far, all i've managed to find are tips and tricks videos, or even long "beginner to expert" type tuts/series, which are useful too of course, but all these seem to just use random placeholder assets to explain isolated concepts without much continuity, which i find not as rewatchable, and not as good at guaranteeing retention over long periods (i juggle many hobbies).

Has anyone come across something like this?

Any recommendations, even on other topics like programming languages, photo editing software, vector design, which ever you've come across, would be greatly appreciated! thanks

Hello Im using FCPX with a lot of add on. I’m mainly using 90% of the time the same add on (titles, effects, transitions), with the same setting (letter size, color, type of effect and so and so)

I’m actually keeping all my settings in .. notes to avoid forgetting something.. everytime I need to found my add on and setting all the time manually

I want to know if there is a way to keep some add on as kind of favorite, same I’m doing in Lightroom for example Even if it’s an extra software to buy and install for example Thx

So I have 2 problems that I believe are connected somehow. I'm trying to export this project for like the 10-th time. Always failing at some point. The files I recieve as exported are broken and in 2-3 occasions the exported video is running smooth until the 2th hour and 40mins mark. Which is the same moment I encounter my second problem. My multicam clips are flicking to black in few different moments. I uploaded screenshots and video of what I see at this moments (marked them with chapter). The audio doesn't stop. It's interesting that in preview I can see the video, but in my multicam window this moments are black. Inside the multicam clip the videos are still flicking to black at the same moments. Little info down bellow:
- tried exporting in different formats, coppying the project in a new one, restarting FCPX, restarting my computer, but the problem stays the same.
- macOS Ventura 13.5.2
- FCPX version 10.6.9
*I'm kinda scared to upgrade both before finishing my project.
- I am not using proxies
- I have more than 700gb of free memory. It was more than enough in previous similar projects.

I had a M1 Pro Macbook behaving extremely slow with Final Cut.
So I changed to M1 MAX and it is still behaving the same.

The entire editing process is so laggy that I almost want to switch back to premiere pro.
I am editing a 4k footage on a FHD timeline and even a basic text editing can get laggy.

I suspected a slow SSD external hard drive so I tried moving the library to the desktop and it is still the same. I am running the latest firmware of Final Cut.

My library tend to get pretty big at over 100gb so can this be the problem?

My editing skills are regular I would say. I do youtube videos for 2 years now, but I want to get better in editing and storytelling. Do you have any recommendations for skillshare coures, youtubers etc.?

Does anyone here export compound clips in high resolution and then import them back in so then they're like a flattened clip, I find that sessions tend to slow down once you have a bunch of compound clips going on

Got video from a live event that needed stabilization so I ticked off the FCPX box. Won’t export. Been 24 hours and still doing transcoding and analysis. I applied it to the whole footage for each camera but then cut the close camera. I’m assuming it’s running it on each clip separately hence the time? But I thought it was pretty much 1:1. The video is an hour long, 4K. The footage is on an external drive with usb c a fast drive. What is going on?

Using "Change Duration" allows extending from the end of a clip with the keyboard only, but I can't find a way to do that for the start of a clip. Is it impossible and I have to drag the start with a mouse instead?

I would like to learn how to recreate an effect like this in Final Cut Pro. How would I go about this? I have a moderate understanding of the software, been using it for a few years for fun and learned just from messing around. If anyone has a tutorial or could show me where to start to make this effect I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

I believe most people were outraged when Cinestudio came out and it was subscrition only, I certainly was. I did give the free trial a go as it was quite hard to decide if it was overhyped or not, as of writing this post, I have just cancelled the free trial with 2 days left. The Final Cut community have been stubbornly against any type of subscriptions and I think it's Hilarious how motionVFX didn't pick this message up. As of anyone curious about the trial, it's good, but if it had to be a subscription I would pay £10 a month at the maximum. So because for 6 months they haven't budged, does anyone have a cracked version? I don't want to destroy my laptop though so if it looks sketchy... well, im not downloading it. I sent another editor a library via dropbox. Now I'm adding new events and this editor will need those new events too. Is it possible to just share / send each of the new events to them without sending them the entire library each time. I know, for collaboration one should really used a shared library on say frame.io or the like.

I have a shot of someone cleaning the counter and I want the text to appear as though it's on the counter. How can I do this so the hand wipes over (and therefore obscuring) the text?

Im about to look into and buy an 8tb SSD but feel like even that wouldn’t be enough.😆

Wish it was one of those things I could set and forget but I’m guessing you pros out there are usually only optimizing either smaller libraries or just portions of a library? Maybe temporarily optimizing?

My large 4K library (800gb) will need to be trimmed itself but I know it will only get larger since all of my video work is currently based on one topic (one video game) so I never know if I’ll pull footage from something I filmed a year ago or today.

So I have final cut already from a purchase from a few years back for my Macbook Pro. I just want to make sure that when I get my new Macbook Air in a few months I will be able to redownload Final Cut for free since I own it already.

Context:

Newbie here: I edit instagram videos where I often need to fit a lot of information into a 30-second video.

The problem:

This results in me having many versions of footage chunks – for example, a 30-sec clip can have 10–12 sentences (depending on their length) and I often shoot various iterations of each sentence, often a short one, medium one and a longer one with extra information.

As you can imagine, I do NOT end up with one video where I just have to decide between one sentence, i.e. the longer or shorter version of one sentence, this would be easy. What I end up with is way too many options.

• e.g. I can choose the shorter version of sentence 3 and the longer version of sentence 7, but equally I can rather preserve a longer joke in sentence 5 and compensate that with the use of the shorter version of sentence 7, yada yada

What I think I need:

It would help me to have multiple timelines of these 30-second videos, so I can quickly compare which one is the best (with the least amount of sacrifices). Is something like this possible in FCPX?

I'm working on a project now and have a very weird (to me) problem. When I drag titles to the timeline, they show up as a narrow line and I have a hard time selecting them, or adjusting their duration. The same thing happens with stills I add to the timeline. I can adjust the scale of the time line and the videos get larger/smaller, but the stills and titles remain a skinny line. Help?
