Just moved from premiere to Final Cut.
I was working on a video and selected the “detach audio” option so I could make a j cut, but after wanting to attach it again I realized I can’t.
Is there a way to “re-link” audio and video (without having to make a compound clip)?
In premiere you can just select both and click on “link”. How can I do the same on fcp?
Thanks a lot!
Hello, I am starting to see on YouTube an interesting "Subscribe" reminder in the form of an iOS Notification. It makes you feel like you are really recieving a message from the person you are watching. Any ideea where I can get it?
You have an example here:
It's all in the title! I often do video projects requiring old media that is often in very poor condition. When I say poor condition I'm talking about resolution of things in 480p for example.
I tried CRT effects or having some kind of mesh but it doesn't work that much.
Do you have any little tips?
(I specify but I am on FCPX)
THANKS !
I've been using imovie for well over a decade, I've looked at final cut here and there but now I'm REALLY looking into it. Has anyone else made the jump from imovie? Is it worth the buy?
any way around this would be great or if I'm doing something I'm unaware of
Where do you lot get your LUTS from ?
New product from Stupid Raisins, Caption Pop AI: https://stupidraisins.com/titles/caption-pop-ai/?vgo_ee=ftFupguRnUlYdk50xc3TSIzlilnVvUDfQYieFQ22aZfNegBR2g%3D%3D%3A%2Bmxxd7lDAP8wPeehamDRdqPI7%2FMMGi%2FV
Hi people, I’m planning to buy a new MacBook was hoping to get some reviews on M2 Air base model. My usage is going to be college work of a computer science masters student and some YouTube vid editing on FCP ?
Should I be okay with the base model or do I need to upgrade to 16GB RAM? Any opinions or suggestions on other models are appreciated! Thank you 😊
Probably just a stupid question. But when the playhead reaches the end of the timeline it continues playing from the beginning. Is there a way to stop that?
Thanks in advance!
Any thoughts on which is best for levelling out audio?
"...performance is up to 13× faster with M4 for tasks like speech to text processing, so you can use AI to instantly apply video effects and generate captions for a ton of posts with the upcoming version of Final Cut Pro."
I am experiencing issues with Stencil Alpha/Luma. MacOS 15.1
I want to create a simple cut-out effect with a title over a video. However, when I select the Stencil Alpha or Luma blend mode, there is no cut-out, just a black canvas. I tried troubleshooting but haven't helped so far.
Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing this? I just updated to MacOS 15.1
I have edited a 20-minute video that contains around 8 different multicam clips, each with 3-4 audio channels. I am now ready to do all of my sound mixing, but I don't know where to begin. Should I open up the multicam clips and mix the sound for each audio clip there? Or should I do it all on the timeline level? Or should I create compound clips of Music, Sound effects, and Dialogue and apply effects there?
Some speakers were louder than others, so I don't know what the correct workflow is to balance all of them.
Thanks
So I just signed discovered the iOS 18 has support for multicam on Final Cut Pro on iPad and I want to leverage that in my Instagram reels making. My first thought was just to buy four iPhone XS models and then use the telephone lens on that with some moment/send Mark lensfor the look I want to make. But I just got to thinking that perhaps I might just be better off getting for iPhone 12 mini’s. I need some advice on what some people is more experienced than we might recommend. If I want to get into the multicam iPhone reels making journey to be somewhat future approved, I am aware of that iPhone XS will probably not receive any more iOS updates.
For background, I finished with a library and did my usual delete all render files which typically gives me a 30GB library left. I noticed this time the library was still 122GB.
It seems all my optical flow files (as they are labelled within the library package - for the smooth slow mo - best new feature!) don’t get deleted in the usual ‘delete files’ operation.
It seems the only way to delete these is to go into the library via Show Package Contents and deleting these Optical Flow folder within the Analysis Files folder.
This seems a bit unnecessary. At least allow a check box like Proxy gets.
Anyway, is this the best way?
Does it matter whether I delete the Optical Flow folder or should I leave the folder and just delete the files within?
Any tips would be appreciated so I don’t break things. I don’t enjoy tinkering within package contents.
Since you can no longer download and use fcp version 1, nor the version 8; it got me thinking how can I preserve a full version copy of final cut pro 10.4.9/10.5 (the one I’m using) since a lot of plugins and other software I use have either been outdated or discontinued so I need to be able to stay on this version forever. one day my computer will die so I need a way to install 10.4.9/10.5 on newer computers as well which won’t be available in the official apple app store.
My source Go Pro files from a previous import are in 2704 x 1520. When I export from FCPX, I can choose 3840 x 2160 and they play well on YouTube. Fill the full screen and look good. The current source files are the same 2704 x 1520 but when I export from FCPX, I can choose 3840 x 1440. These don't fill the full screen on my Mac or when uploaded to YouTube. Did I import something incorrectly or with some odd resolution switch? TIA.
Im trying to achieve a more cinematic color grade on a wedding video, but it doest look good and I dont know what to do, if someone could give me a light so I could improve this grade, Im leaving the links for the images below.
I shot on an FX30 on Slog 3, added a Sony lut conversion to Rec709 and played with color wheels and hues (especially the greens I changed a lot)
Very very new to FCPX and equally new to working with Mac OS
My question is how should work with all this?
I have 720x480 footage that is computer generated (ie, not from cameras) that seems to behave weird when importing into FCP (latest version, MacBook Pro M3 Max, running Sequoia).
For example this test I made of a perfect circle (left) already shows distortion (vertical stretch) on the import dialog (right):
Then once imported, it still shows vertical stretch regardless if I change the Anamorphic Override. On OFF or Standard it shows vertical stretch (top) and with Widescreen, it has horizontal stretch (bottom).
Am I doing anything wrong or is this behavior normal?
When any of these clips are put into a Project, I never get the perfect circle, no matter what I change in the Project settings (ie, even if the Project is set at 720x480). TIA!
I have multiple takes for each of my scenes.
For example, Scene 1 has Take 1, Take 2 and Take 3, and so on.
How do you recommend adding these to the Library or Timeline in the most efficient / organized way? Would it be similar to the workflow with Multicam footage, and then each Take would be an "Angle"? This seems a bit strange given that one isn't expected to "switch" between takes as one does with Multicam stuff.
Is there any other best practice for editing multiple takes on FCP? TIA
Used Davinci Resolve for a while before getting a Mac. I was playing around with FCPX and it impressed me so much that I tried to replace Davinci when it comes to YT videos. The only thing I found interesting is that when I import V-Log footage and there is no clear way aside from luts to convert the Log to Rec709. And sometimes luts just don't convert the footage properly.
In Davinci I usually just use the Color Space Transform and done.
Right now I use XMLs to send the timeline to Davinci for grading but here is my question: Is there a way, other then luts, to make the conversion?
Hi Guys - just wondering if someone knows how to do this... so I want to create a Title in apple motion that has a counter which counts down based on user input which can be accessed in FCPX.
The thing is, if my Title was 10s and I change the starting countdown in FCPX to 9, there will still be some extra frames at the end. Is there a way in Apple Motion to link the value that I am passing to also affect the project duration?
Does that make sense? Or is there a different workaround to that?
