Astolfo just happy to his master safe and sound, while Sieg is confused as to why Jeanne d’Arc is upset, especially considering Astolfo’s a guy lol
(Astolfo=better waifu/femboy/trap)
i have found the book (in french - https://www.amazon.co.uk/FATE-APOCRYPHA-T01-Yuichiro-HIGASHIDE/dp/237717065X) but i can't find an english version of any of the volumes which are physical copies, only the online manga which is in english :/
in the last episode we see what happens to the rest of servants and master who are still alive
but we never see Mordred agian but the last scene was when she crashed a plain into caster (ramirus) but she didn't die from that, because we see ramirus agian and she has wounds that look like that they are from a sword, so she must have fought with mordred and lost
she said so to, i can't be angry after all i lost to
so i am curious what happend to Mordred?
Is their a way to buy the English light novel aslo how many English manga vols
So, we have DnD style role-playing game based on HGW and I got the (un)fortunate role of Assassin servant. Now, I've already watched 7 episodes of Apocrypha but with my pace it will be a long road till the end, so I need to wtf I want from this goddam cup ASAP and would like to be lore accurate, at least at first. Was it ever stated what Semiramis wanted in Apocrypha or just overall?
During casters death in fate zero I noticed that the ruler from fate/apocrypha held her hand out in some scenes. I’m pretty new to the fate so I’m not sure if this is supposed to be her but I did see that the two series are in different timelines but I’m not sure if I’m getting confused.
I rarely think about this show, there wasn’t a lot I liked about it, personally, but when I liked something, I REALLY liked it. A good example is Karna. I genuinely think he’s a really good character.
One thing I didn’t like though, was Shirou’s wish when he’s the antagonist. Heaven’s Feel (and true magic in general) was used in heavy moderation, if not at all in the original timeline for Fate, and for good reason. True Magic is completely broken, and giving something like Heaven’s Feel to everyone has literally no downsides. Sure, “no more progress” and all that, but does it matter when nobody can die, (presumably) feel pain, or harbor negative emotions?
Making a literally perfect utopia and giving the ideal to an antagonist just doesn’t work. There’s no way around the fact that Sieg (and every protagonist present, at that) was 100% in the wrong here.
Anyway, made this because someone reminded me that this series existed, and the topic at hand happened to be about the ending. Speaking of which, I’m going to use this opportunity to ask a couple things about the ending that I just didn’t get.
Why did the omnipotent holy grail have a range of effect when Shirou’s wish was specifically to unleash the third magic on humanity?
How the fuck did Jeanne get to Sieg? Throne room of heroes or whatever, right? Isn’t that literally impossible to get out of for non servant activities?
This isn’t about the ending, just in general, but how did Sieg gain the ability to transform into Siegfried when he got his heart? Shirou wasn’t able to become Archer when he got his arm, just use his power and weapons, plus NLBW. Thiz is something that confused me pretty much immediately after the reveal, and has bothered me ever since.
There was no reason for these two to be these classes. Shakespeare’s abilities for much better as an assassin, ESPECIALLY when compared to Semiramis. I’m pretty sure that they made Semiramis an Assassin and then immediately forgot that she wasn’t a Caster, cause that floating palace with building sized cannons isn’t very assassin like.
I’m just thinking… why tf would you make the Assassin like fighter a Caster… or the Caster like fighter an Assassin?? There’s a lot of questions that this series comes with and this is easily the most pointless one.
#1: Sieg
Literally everything about him is bad. Everything was handed to him, his development overall was just lackluster, and frankly, I’m a bit salty that they traded Siegfried (someone who actually could’ve been decent) for this shit show of an MC.
#2: Side characters
Like 2 of them got actual development, and only one of them was even kind of worth it. Jeanne’s little romance thing with Sieg is possibly the worst love story I’ve ever seen (yes, including Twilight). Shirou was kind of interesting, being a Ruler with SN Shirou’s mindset but Kiritsugu’s method of execution (using the grail to save all). My issue with Shirou will come up next.
#3: Shirou
My god was he wasted potential. He had the potential to be really interesting, but they shit stomped all that potential into being the exact same “good goal, bad execution” villain that’s been done over and over again. It just feels like he could’ve been something great, but was lacking in literally every aspect.
#4: Interactions
I’m not even gonna cover the whole Jeanne x Sieg bullshit.
I think that one of the most interesting things about Fate in general is how much potential there is for character interactions. I mean, where else can you find Alexander the Great, Arthur Pendragon, and Gilgamesh having a banquet that’s interrupted by one of the Hassan? Well, Apocrypha being Apocrypha, it doesn’t do any of this… like at all. There’s no clashing ideology outside of 2 characters that don’t even have any background to have ideology to clash. The whole Achilles/His Teacher thing could’ve been cool, but even that was wasted since the teacher’s LITERAL ONLY PURPOSE was to have someone who can truly counter Achilles.
#5: Plot armor
Idk why people complain about Shirou Emiya’s plot armor when Sieg exists. The dude got the heart of a Saber and is now somehow able to shapeshift into him, the whole 80% magic circuits thing which is basically the writer’s way of saying “how are we supposed to make our MC this strong? Idk, make him 80% Magic or sum”, and got blasted by a random Berserker Lightning bolt at like episode 12 and roughly 15 episodes later can use THE FULL FORCE OF BERSERKER’S NOBLE PHANTASM because sure, why not?
#6: Casters and Assassins.
Why the hell is it that the assassins made better casters than the damn casters? Jack the Ripper’s Noble Phantasm’s whole gimmick was trickery through illusions and Semiramis is self explanatory, and what about the casters? Golem boi did literally nothing and Shakespeare was easily one of the worst parts of the series. Which actually leads to my next and final point.
#7: Shakespeare
Oh my god… how do you make such an interesting dude with so much potential from his various stories so fucking bad? His only purpose was to stall and tell the viewer how awesome the series is (seriously I fucking despise that they felt the need to add a hype man for the series IN SERIES). His very inclusion drops the series from a 6-7/10 to a 4-5/10. They could’ve added literally ANY character other than him, make it fucking Regina from the house across the street for all I care and she would’ve made a more interesting caster.
Now it’s not all bad, there is one thing I liked about the series, and that one thing got like 15 minutes of screen time.
Pro #1: Karna
He was cool, had a great design, was incredibly accurate to his legend, and even had a nice retelling of said legend (honorable warrior serving an evil man).
At the beginning of the series, it was stated that after the whole red/black thing was sorted out, then there would be a second phase where it’s just a normal grail war. My issue here is that Shirou used the grail when the first phase just BARELY finished, and there were like 5 and 3/4 servants still alive. That’s not even half of the second phase done without including the two rulers that were on the field.
It’s stated in pretty much every Fate ever that to use the grail, 6 servants must die in a battle Royal, but that’s under traditional rules, which every rule ever was shot in the head for this series (Ruler included). The grail was wasn’t anywhere near done technically, hell the second phase JUST started by the time the grail was used.
Literally the only reason I can think of Shirou being able to use the grail at this point is to make the stakes higher. I literally cannot name an in universe reason for this taking place.
He didn’t really do anything at all combat wise that I can remember and the only thing I CAN think of him doing throughout the series was hyping up how amazing of a story the series was. The series itself was above average but the fact that they felt the need to add a hype man to tell you how great the series was felt kinda stupid.
Put it simply, none of his "power" is actually his. Everything is basically handed to him. If Siegfried was going to "spiritually" be a main character, then he should have been kept alive. If the homunculus was going to be a major character, for god knows why reasons, honestly any homunculus could have been in his shoes and none of the plot would have changed, anyways, if he was going to be a master, he should have been Siegfried's master. Not Astolfo's, if anything Astolfo should have died trying to save him. Also, I am hearing things about him romancing Jeanne, which defeats the plot of the Holy Virgin legend Joan of Arc. Honestly, the main chara should have been Jeanne without any romance plot against the antagonists. The homunculus has been saved by so many that its pretty annoying he wasn't killed off sooner and all for what? Nothing honestly. Plot is the same without him.
Honestly I am watching because of my admiration for Arturia and her son/daughter Mordred is here and I wanted to see if more Arturia plot was written in here. And that's the only reason I am still watching this eyesore of a character. Well, not really, as I am skipping all his scenes. lol
I can see why this series was hated by many fans of the original type moon fate/zero. In Fate/Zero the masters relied on their own skills, tactics, and magic to win matches along with their servants. It was strictly business and war. Fate UBW had its overly OP Shirou that one hadda stomach but granted it was still his power he awakened, even though Archer helped along the way and Rin hadda save Shirou's ass multiple times. This Fate just hands the homunculus power left and right. Its just a series where he wins and is saved no matter what. Hell even prior Fates had the MC struggling and had them at a disadvantage. I can see why many fans were displeased. Jeanne is sucking his ego, Astolfo is sucking his ego, and its just too over the top for me. Lastly, the masters use their command seals as if they are coupons you get in sales papers. Command seals were seen as last minute acts of desperation, but here, they use them to calm their servants, make orders that for some reason the servants can still reject. Again, to save that crap character the homunculus. Astolfo fought off not one, but two commands? Then Mordred pops up and kills the Master? Wooooow, much plot, much power to that crap homunculus. 🙄😒
It’s said that there was a bit of interference in the 3rd grail war in this one, but it shows the end result of Fate/Zero’s grail war (even has Kiritsugu in anguish), has Waver talking about Iskandar, and one more that will be addressed in the next question. I even tried going on forums to see where this places on the timeline, but it seems like even the fans don’t know for sure.
Ok I’m not one to shit on characters even if I don’t like them, but I really hate this guy’s inclusion. It makes no sense that 1. Kirei isn’t the priest when he’s alive in both Fate/Zero AND Fate/Stay Night and a priest to boot, 2. has a relative that just HAPPENS to have the same name and face as one of his top 2 most despised individuals IF IT’S EVEN HIS RELATIVE, and 3. (Assuming this isn’t his relative) there just happens to be two Kotomine in the same church organization that have no relation to each other.
Like there’s Mordred, Frankenstein, Jack the Ripper, and almost Astolfo. Hell I probably missed a couple.
I’ve probably been spoiled by the peak that is the main Fate timeline, but this one feels pretty rushed so far.
Like black faction has masters and homunculi to power the servants, but you're telling me Shiro amakusa has enough power to support himself, and a team of at most 7 servants and himself for 60+ YEARS, BY HIMSELF?
Did she pull it out of her as or something?
What colors/color combinations of the MtG color pie would the various Fate characters be and why? The Berserkers would obviously all be at least partially Red, for example, Shakespeare seems Red/Blue, etc. What about the Masters as well?
