I'm a Zildjian dude, but I really like the sound of the Meinl Matt Gartska Byzance Equilibrium ride and can't find a similar sound with any Zildjians. My current Zildjian crashes sound great but I don't like the I series ride sound. What do you guys think I should do? Mix my cymbals or switch altogether?
I recently bought Zildjian FX Blast Bell off Amazon, and I noticed the words, "Sound Effects", are missing from the Zildjian logo. I reached out to Zildjian to see if they changed the wording on the production, but no response. It sounds good, but just concerned if this could be a fake cymbal. Thoughts?

Hi r/drums!
I'm a drummer working on a new app to solve common practice/performance struggles, but I don't want to assume what's needed. If you have 5 minutes, please fill out this survey-it'll directly shape what we build.
As a thank-you, you'll get early access and a chance to win a $50 Sweetwater/Amazon gift card.
I'd also like to hear in the comments: What's the ONE thing you wish existed for drummers?

Did not realize it did not come with a throne lmao, I’m just using my amp as a throne until I can get my hands on a proper one.
I love the sound of a lion
Ive had a gibraltar throne for a long time now, and forever ago I must've lost the hex bolt (I think that's what it's called) and thus the seat is pretty wobbly and unstable. Does anyone know what the specific part is or where I can find one? I think this is from the 9000 series for thrones but I'm not 100% sure.
i got new cymbals. its:
20" K Custom Dark Ride 18" A Custom Crash/Ride 18" Dream Contact Crash/Ride 14" Custom Quick Beats Hi-Hats
So I can play a shuffle beat around 130BPM with no ghost notes pretty well. But once I add in ghost notes I was told that it just sounds like I’m playing 8th notes and the triplets aren’t there. Anyone else get this to or know how to keep the shuffle feel when adding ghost notes?
What are some good videos for practicing note reading (like full guide) and rhythm practice in general because I just seem kind of stuck with my 8th grooves and don’t know how to improve really?
I'm pretty new, I played for a few months but 6 months ago I hurt my back and had to stop. I've been back on the kit for about a month now and this is my practice routine. I almost always use a metronome, so take that into account. Thanks
10 min each single stroke roll, double stroke roll, paradiddle.
20 min of learning one part of a song (like the chorus)
20 min of learning a different part of that sound (like the verse)
20 min of playing different beats and fills, currently Im working on Stanton Morres beginner fills video.
Roast away like you're a guitar player.
I don’t want my father to disown me. Ever since I was a little boy I knew I was different than the others. I liked marching drums more than drum sets. My dad is very traditional so I am afraid of how he would react to finding out I am a marching drummer rather than a drum set drummer… I feel like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, what do I do?

Nate Morton is a beast of a drummer. You may have seen him as the drummer in the “House Band” on the show “The Voice,” “Rockstar:INXS,” or “Rockstar:Supernova.” A Berklee graduate, he has also played live and/or recorded with the following: Natalie Cole, Michael Bolton, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Richard Marx, Paul Anka, Paul Stanley, Pete Murray, Pink, Paulina Rubio and Thalia among others. He is also playing as the drummer tonight (2/2/25) for the Grammy Awards Show.
I was lucky enough to meet Nate during the filming of INXS Rockstar. Aside from being an amazingly versatile drummer, he is a great guy who gives private lessons. I am sharing this info for anyone interested in taking lessons or improving their skills and chops. I am signed up for remote lessons with him, and this message is being posted to share his info. Check out this link to get more info on studying with Nate:
My kit came with low volume cymbals (that are actually pretty loud) but i was thinking about getting another cymbal, would it sound weird to do hybrid regular cymbals with my 3 low volume, or should i buy a whole new cymbals pack
Thanks!
I had a weird experience a few weeks ago where I took a drumset lesson with a really highly regarded player and (maybe this is just my own insecurities talking) they were quite rude and condescending to me and it made me reconsider what I was even doing
I pretty much fell into "playing" the drums on accident, moved schools when I was 11 and got thrown into the percussion section at my new school and discovered DCI and was never able to put it down for any length of time. Grew up poor so I could never afford lessons and I'm still broke so I've pretty much been dinking around on a practice pad for 18 years now on and off, don't really know much other than two years of music undergrad (no formal lessons on my instrument) and how to read music and 40 PAS rudiments and a bunch of hybrids
I dunno I pretty much just realized I suck and frequently wonder how much someone has to practice to be "good". I go through periods where I just practice like 1-2 hours everyday on a pad for a few months and then get bored. I've considering quitting but I literally can't seem to stop drumming all over stuff despite being horrible at it but it's kinda weird just playing eggbeaters with my hands all over everything and people are like "oh you play drums!? are you in a band!?" and I have to explain to them that I don't really know how to play and it gets awkward
if I could find a teacher I vibe with I would start seriously studying drumset but...well
Ive always heard mixed feelings, but i think they have a dark and punchy sound with great high and low end.

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on tuning the RTOM LV Mesh heads, as I recently got some for my acoustic kit at home. I have tried looking for this information on the internet, including some videos on RTOM's official Youtube channel, but they all seem to assume a certain level of familiarity with the process, using phrases like "medium tension", "low tension" or "until it feels good". I'm a beginner, so even regular tuning is something of a challenge and so far I've been supplementing myself with a Drum Dial, while learning to tune from ear.
So, on to my actual questions - if any of you ever used the heads (or similar), I'd appreciate some words of wisdom:
Other than the points above, I would appreciate any other tips you might have for a beginner trying on mesh heads :) Thanks for your time, hope you have a blessed day!
