I’m looking for recommendations on what you think the best bang for your buck of drumming headphones I could get my brother for Christmas around $100 and under. He plays both acoustic and e drums, acoustic more so now but I’m sure it’ll go back and forth I’ve read a ton of extremely mixed reviews on the Vic firths and the ATh-m50x as well as the Sony 7506’s as well as others I’d imagine isolation is a key factor without depositing the sound quality? I have 0 experience with this stuff other than about an hour of researching them. I’m looking to buy him the gibraltar gdms monitor system so I wanted to add the head phones, lmk your guys thoughts asap please Thanks
Miktek is clearing out the T200 for $50. I've found zero reviews online for it. I then noticed they have the PM11 which looks identical, aside from the color. The ad copy is also virtually identical, as are the specs. Does anyone know if this is just a rebranding or is there a difference besides the color? Obviously I bought one. Thanks!
My snare drum produces a lot of overtones which I don't necessarily hate on their own, but they make the snare wires go crazy and make a really high pitched mosquito-like sound after every hit and it just sounds awful. It's particularly annoying in songs that have more spread out snare hits because you can really hear it clearly. Has anyone else had this issue before and how does one prevent this from happening?
Hey guys I started to practice jazz in the drums a little bit a year ago. I a tool a couple lessons but mainly I’ve been learning with just books and YouTube. The hard part is with sometimes just a little bit of time to practice(usually I tried to sit at least one hour every day) but sometimes I couldn’t even practice for a couple days. How you guys divide or decide in what to practice? Usually I sit and practice the groove because a lot of ppl said to concentrate a lot on that but that doesn’t give me the time to practice other things. I don’t know if that makes sense my goal is to have play in a jazz band next year but I know I need a little bit more of practice (probably more than that lol). In jazz for me it’s hard to see when I know I’m ready for that step.
Hello,
In an earlier post,
several persons suggested the yamaha stage custom for a first kit. I looked for a used kit and the yamaha stage custom is about the same price as a Tama superstar. I'm looking for something durable. I don't know much about drums, but I like rock music. At the same price, which kit would you choose? Thank you for your help
I suppose it’s for lubrication, but why do people care? I’ve had issues forever with lugs backing out on their own. Wouldn’t lubricant just exacerbate that issue?
Pardon the state of my garage/jam room plz.
Beautiful Maple 6 ply with 6 ply re rings. Gladstone shells. 12x8, 14x14, 16x15, 22x14 and 14x7 matching snare, with their signature Ducco lugs.
Baby blue stain with pinstripe diamond band inlay
🤤
If you dig the collab, please feel free to check out my music instagram linked in my Reddit account bio:), as there’s loads more videos like this over there, and thank you all! 🙏
Thoughts abt the intro fill? (Put it at the start so I could re-take if I messed it up cause it’s hard to make sound good)
Im looking to do some at home recording for a Midwest Emo band (basically just diy basement style rock) and was wondering if i could get some insight on mic setups. Im currently working with a Shure Ksm32 room mic, a Shure SM 57 on the snare, and one more above the right crash and ride, and a cheap behringer kick drum mic inside the kick drum. Can anyone give me any advice on mic placement or tips on mixing with this or a similar mic setup? thanks.
When I plug in the headphones to monitor the music as I record live drums the iPhone thinks I want to use the headphones to record but there is no mic. How do I tell it to use the iPhone mic? I only see directions to do this in macOS with preferences but there is no preferences on the phone app. Anyone know? Thanks!!
I think I’ve heard this beat before but I don’t know where, and it’s KILLING ME!!! So please tell me if you’ve heard this beat before.
I like this free videos on youtube. I subscribed to his newsletter and he sometimes advertises his paid instructional courses. I see he had a sale on them today.
I’m curious if anyone has paid for his materials and if they are worth it. How would you compare them to Drumeo material?
I like using Vic firth 5a sticks but I feel like they either break to fast or I don’t get enough power when I play, so I’ve tried a Vader 3a and that was too heavy and I couldn’t play very fast, and a Vic firth 5b feels the same as a Vader 3a so that’s out the window, I’ve tried promark sticks but those break so fast, anyone got good recs for a stick that’s like a Vic firth 5a but a little heavy and maybe more durable? Or am I too picky 😭
I bought an electric drum kit because I didn't wanted to disturb my roommate but now I want to get an amplifier. Can I use any amplifier or there's a drum specific amplifier ?
Don’t say 5a
Does anybody know the name of the 2 pin connection used on the now discontinued ZIEM1 IEMs? Trying to find a cheap replacement. TIA
Great performance by Swiss drummer Arthur Hnatek. All sounds on the analog rytm triggered and modulated by our forthcoming drumbeam. Available for pre-order on kickstarter for 45 more hours.

I thought the AQ2 would sound better because it was much more expensive. The AQ2 also used more expensive maple wood, while the AQX used cheaper poplar wood.
But after listening to the video in the link above (the earphones I'm using are budget earphones), I actually like the sound of the AQX better.
The AQ2 has a richer resonance and round sound but for some reason, it gave off a vague impression. On the other hand, the AQX has less resonance than the AQ2, but it feels clearer and has a stronger attack(It's like a tama drum with a little more heft).
Am I the only one who feels this way? I wonder if I have a bad ear that can't tell the difference between expensive and cheap sounds. What do you think about the sound comparison above?
PS: Any idea what frequency range I should eq up to increase the "thickness" of the shellpack? I don't know if this is the right word choice since English is not first language. (heft? thickness? heavy? solid? anyway.. I like the sound of that kind of Sonor, but the AQX and AQ2 have less of that feeling)
I vaguely remember reading something about in ear protection not actually protecting your hearing, and it's left me wondering: in ear or over ear? I get in ear for a gig, but for casual playing, do I think about getting in ears? (I use over ear atm)
Damn she fine.
They sound really good in videos but the price makes me skeptical. If they are actually as good as the videos suggest, which series would pair well with my 20" Zildjian K Heavy ride? I generally like medium thin when it comes to hihats and crashes for good response, dark wash and nice shimmer.
