Thank you all for so much love on my last post! I have so much to share if you want to see it. I’ll be uploading some vids to my TikTok but wanted to share a raw vid.
For the projected video, I edited Nightmare on Elm St. clips into the original music video. I’m really proud of how everything turned out!
Hi all,
Does anyone have the part number for the upper section of the pull rod for the Tama SpeedCobra Hi Hat stand? 310 / HH315D
I tried the googles and the Tama parts catalog
I play edrums and acoustic and I primarily use Vic Firth SiH2 headphones. They provide great noise isolation for acoustic drums and removes all pad noise when playing edrums. The sound quality is decent for listening to music and for edrum sound quality. The issue is... after 1 hour of playing, my ears feel like they're about to fall off. The tightness.... so bad! I have DT 770's as well and while they're great, the noise isolation is lacking.
That brings me to KZ ZS10 Pro. I thought these would be the cure to my problems, I didn't even try them with foam tips and I know that will improve noise isolation. The sound quality is just a bit lacking in my opinion. Too much treble? They lack a lot of bass and everything just sounds off to me!
Anyone have any recommendation for Headphones or IEMs with decent sound quality and similar noise reduction/isolation to vic firth and KZ ZS10 Pro? I'm based in EU so they can't be a specific like GK Ultraphones which I'd love but... shipping & custom fees scare me.
Thanks.
So this is a bit of a odd question that I never expected to need to ask but here we are. So a mouse feel into my kick drum from the top and died in it. Does anyone here know how to clean a drum interior when something like that happens? Thanks
The area near me for Facebook marketplace is completely riddled with either broken or 6mm cymbal stands. The problem with 6mm is it's very hard to find parts for and I don't want to have to go through all that again. So I found a new cymbal stand on Amazon and was wondering if it would be good enough quality to be able to gig and last for years.
Or do I save up a little more and buy one from a reputable brand
Im thinking of getting a china maybe 16 or 18 inch or a new splash but I have no clue on where I should put it so I was looking for some help.
Are there drum kits that can be played with hands only (and possibly one foot, but not sure)? Would it compromise the quality of music? I'm trying to decide whether drums is the right instrument for me to learn. I love percussion.
My new double bass drum pedal is really nice, but the actual pedals keep sliding left and right, causing it to be kind of jittery when I step on it. Does anyone know how I can get them to lock in? I’ve been trying to use the drum key to tighten the bolts on it, but it hasn’t been making a difference.
Title^^ bored at college, I can lock in on rudiments for hours. Someone give me something to do that’ll piss me off Lol
I'm getting close to purchasing a new kit and will probably have at least 7 drums to mic along with 2 overheads. I've got between 5-8 cymbals not including the hi hat to mic as well.
Aside from the laptop which I already have and the mics that are on the purchase list, what other software (Pro Tools?) will I need?
Thanks for the input!
DRUMSTICKS: A single pair of VIC american classic 5A. DRUMKIT: Second-hand Alesis Nitro Mesh (electrick)
IMPORTANT: I dont own a drum amplificator or any boombox so the sound comes out so i use headphones i had from my old ass electrick piano. So i will not be able to record myself for practice sadly. Please take notice i am learning It from what i have no academy as i am still with my main instrument doing that one and cant take part till i finish that.
QUESTIONS:
I mostly did the structure so far, tried to see where everything was watched all the beginner vids list in Drumeo. Before hand and during It. Touched everything.
My go to today was listening to a song and deciphering the sounds toms, snares, etc. and create own rythmns. Youtube hasnt been a sucess as i see most people having a much bigger kit with atleast 4 or more cymbals.
I would attach a video showing how i do It at the moment but i am not able to sadly.
Thanks!
BACKGROUND: MUSICAL BaCKGROUND Hello, hello! I just got my first drumkit like u can see attached to here i definetelly didn't spend the whole day practicing It. (I definetelly did)
First things first. This is not my first instrument as i come mainly from piano. Secondary being Guitar but i wasnt quite as found as It. If u have a good eye you'll see behind the drumkit a violin but thats not mine. Thats from my mother haha.
PLAYSTYLE Okay secondary i am not sure if It comes from piano but i have a pretty dominant right and left hand so when trying out the drums i tried first the Open-Handed method and i found It to be very comfortable + its spatious and lets me do more stuff out. I then tried the crossed-hand method whats what most drummers do but i find It complicated to work along with that so in short terms i am guessing my playstyle is so far open handed i can do both but i mean its more tricky the crossed one. About my feet the right is definetelly more dominant my left i need to práctice It what is where the Hit-Hat Pedal is. That needs definetelly práctice.
PRACTICE FIRST DAY Tertiary. I mainly spended uh around the whole evening prácticing structure some beginner vids on Drumeo and how It worked. Setting the sound of the drum and assembling It. But at the end of the day It left me with questions. What u can see above ^^.
Thank you again if u readed this too 🥁!
I built a 2 hour show featuring a variety of songs, with clicks and cues to ensure I stayed in sync with the video. I’m proud of how it came out and it’s safe to say I will be doing it bigger and better next year!
and would it be better to get a electric one or a normal one
Hello I’m looking to get into drumming. I’m probably getting an ekit because my mom wouldn’t like the noise of an acoustic. A couple Google searches tells me that an Alesis Nitro Max or Simmons Titan 50 is the best option for my price range. I can get either for about $350. What I want to know is will a higher quality option will drop into my price range ($300-$500) because of a Black Friday deal? Or will one of the previous mentioned options will drop significantly in price?
These are the ones I’m looking to buy:
From Sonor it would be either the giant step or the perfect balance. Both standard and Jojo Mayer I would buy if I ended picking it over the giant step.
Yamaha and Tama I pretty much know what model from each I want. The FP9D or the Iron Cobra 900. Both as double pedal version.
DW prices do scare me somewhat but If I choose this brand I’m deciding either a double 9000 pedal or a single Machined Chain Drive/Machined Direct Drive.
From Pearl I just want the Demon Drive.
Any help and factors to consider apart from my wallet would be greatly welcomed.
Hi all,
I need help identifying this drum as well as help with learning how best to tune it and use it.
Some background: I bought this drum probably 20 years ago from a hippie/new age shop in the small-ish Colorado town where I grew up. I was a thirteen or fourteen and used my first few paychecks to buy it, so it has some sentimental value to me. I was a percussionist in high school, and, at the time, it was kind of trendy among my friends to have some sort of hand drum to "jam" with. We, none-too-worldly, small-ish town Coloradoans with only limited access to the internet, let alone knowledgeable teachers, called all such drums "djembes".
I left the "djembe" behind after I left home, and it sat at my parents' house until earlier this year when my folks, preparing to move and sell the house, dropped the drum off at my place.
It's probably been at least 15 years since I touched it, and, though I'm not currently a drummer or percussionist, having drifted towards string instruments after college, I've got it here with me and it seems like a shame to just let it sit around.
I'm fairly certain that this isn't, in a strict sense, a "djembe", so: what should I call this thing? Does it even have a name or is it just some sort of generic hippie drum? It's definitely got a skin head (with hair); and I think I recall that it's goat skin (but again, this was 20 years ago), and the body is some sort of wood. I'm happy to post a few more pictures, but I have no more information about the drum than what I've written here.
Additionally: What are some good resources for me to learn how to tune it and learn some basic technique? When I was a kid, I just kind of wailed on it, which was fun, but I never tried to tune it or really learn how to play it.
it seems to me that the tuning and technique go together: I'll have to know a little bit about how the drum is supposed to sound before I know if it is in tune, and I'll have to know that the drum is more or less in tune in order to practice playing it in any meaningful way.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

Please i need advice on futher improvement i have been learning for 4 months now and it seems like i hit a plateau. Why do i think this, well the difference of when i play and when i hear other people play is ridiculously big. From how they play hi-hat to their fills to everything its almost like its easy for them
So please help a begginer boy 🙏Thank you
Hey guys! I play has quite a while. Learning basically alone. What are you guys take on this? How can be done? Thx
Whenever I hit the high tom harder, the snare wire is making annoying sound. I've already tightened the wire, but it still rattles, I've tried putting a paper under it, but it totally changes the sound of the snare. I tried putting a cloth on the tom, it stops the rattling, but it has the flat sound i don't want I don't know what else to do!
I’ve never been too good with this stuff and this is my second time changing the wires. I can’t seem to get them tight enough no matter how much i try to. Whenever i turn it over the gravity pushes it down to where it barely touches the head. I noticed that whenever I engage the wires the throw off system doesn’t go up that much and has little tension. I don’t really know what else i can do, can anyone help?
