Wrote this cadence for fun in like an hour and an am curious what yall think? (I haven’t written sticking for it yet obv)
I just ordered these Mcintosh's...
I knew they were going to be light, but I wasn't expecting short.. I picked em up and chopped for minute.. hated it.
30 - 40 minutes later... "hey this is kinda nice?" then I picked up the other sticks and it took me a minute to readjust back to those.
is anyone actually playing with these? are there any lines that are using short sticks as their main pair?... is it something used for a slight timbre change for a just a moment in a show?
what're y'all thinkin? I'm not sure.
Real beginner tenor player. Like, played it 2 times for football games and once in a parade. Have had no lessons, nothing. Had to write some music for our upcoming christmas parade and I wanted to know yall's thoughts. Wrote most of it, had some help and also borrowed some other parts. Tell me what you think about both the music itself and my playing form and what not.
For playing anything, fast rolls to full legato strokes, how much pressure should your thumb have? I was told that you shouldn’t be able to see your thumb change color like the blood flow changing or whatever it is. Ik it’s the fulcrum point but I can’t tell if my wrist is just weak or I have too much pressure from not playing relaxed enough.
Which gen of the heavy hitter pad series is best or most preferred the originals, the 2010(red heavy hitter logo and sharp edge) the 2018-24 model (what most know) or the new ones with the rims silicone rubber and expanded base. Also are the new heavy hitters good the slim has a 5 star on amazon and was wondering youre alls inputs, thanks
It’s a quad solo found in blue book, I wanna do it but haven’t heard a recording.
I want some innovative Perc sticks (snare) but don’t know which ones to get, which should I buy?
Looking to hear from some of you competitive drummers. I remember a LONG time ago one of my teachers in hs had our line do 8s at like 120 but instead of going faster he kept slowing the metronome down and it was an absolute struggle to keep it clean as everyone was anticipating or coming in late. Now I know that almost every percussion feature out there is about flash and fire (and polyrhythms. cant forget polyrhythms). How many of you have had a real slow part of your percussion feature and was it challenging to keep it clean (aside from One More Times)?
I had an audition for bass 4 recently and one of the comments I got was I lost a little bit of sound quality on my 32nd note fours, are there any checks to help build strength for them on a lower rebound drum?
I am a sophomore in high school and I would say I am decent, but not great. Are there any online solo competitions I should participate in? I am happy to do different instruments even.
How do I transition into section B, and how would I mark time through this section (4 or 3 steps per measure?)

By chance would any of you know the actual name of this?
so im able to play pretty much everything very cleanly at around 140, but whenever i go higher it just falls apart. ive been practicing for days at the higher tempos but im seeing very little improvment. anyone know any ways to combat this?
How would you arrange a drumline with 9/10 people?
The current set up is
2 Snare 2 Quad 2 Flub 4 Bas
For Indoor Percussion, which would you rather have? Only 2-4 members max
I ordered a Xymox pad in 2019 and never received it, nearly 7 years after have spending $150 on it. No matter how they are now quality or branding wise, they have stolen hundreds of dollars from the percussion community, and chances are you know someone that’s been scammed by this company.
Offworld invader v3 pads are a great option and also a very well known, long lasting marching pad known around the DCI community. Vic Firth stock pads are also a great indistry standard to choose from.
Hello, does anyone have an idea of what Yamaha series of marching drums were out in the early 2000s? My high school purchased new Yamaha marching drums in 2005, and I’m curious as to what series of marching drums was out back then.
I gave them the Spock Tuah
Looking to replace my heavy Sound Percussion Pad, which one is best?
Yet another overpriced, mass-produced pad, with copyright infringement bonus!
I want to be a fly on the wall when this case goes to court.
currently a freshman who just finished his first season on bass5 and i wanna expand to tenors, im very familiar with snare and stuff as i can grid stuff and very familiar with the basic marching rudiments. so what are some ways i could start playing tenors?
I play bassoon and saxophone, but I’m trying out for drumline next year. I currently do concert percussion as well, I don’t understand much about rudiments or rhythms.our highschool doesn’t have a tenors player for next year so i wanna take that spot. Any tips so I can make drumline??
