Hey I’m in Ohio and I was wondering how to join a corps. I really want to march with those who actually want to grow and get better every day. I just am not sure how to go about it.
so it's rhe beginning of November, and a lot of corps, including the colts have had their camp weekends posted for a while, but the colt cadets haven't posted anything about the 2025 season. does anyone know when we can expect these dates to be published?
one other little note, can any previous cc members (or anyone really) suggest some things to pack for camp? thanks!!
I plan on auditioning for the blue knights this year but the earlier camps I cannot make. Do they still accept people into the the horn line in January??
I learned a little too late in life about DCI and missed my opportunity to audition before the age cut-off.
I’m considering auditioning for an all age class corp now before it feels “too late” (under 30 currently). Can anyone provide insight on their experience? Pro’s and cons?
I was looking at auditioning for the Columbus Saints.
TIA!
I've seen a lot of people in dci using the third valve rather than 1+2 and I'm not really sure why. I've always been told 3rd is more out of tune than 1+2.
(not 100% sure if that's the right flair for questions)
What are your guys favorite cymbal line shows?
Is there anyone on this subreddit (21+) that lives in the Grand Rapids Michigan area that would want to create a DCI Club? I’m thinking geeking out over different corps/shows over a couple of beers/drinks. Maybe even go to a couple shows every season. For anyone that recognizes my username, I’ve gained quite a following on TikTok making marching band reactions and random memes. I’d be cool to find some fellow DCI fans in my area that would be willing to join in on my content creation! Feel free to send me a message or comment below 😊
I’m running my own indoor percussion show and I’ve done indoor percussion in the past. But I was always told basically to address to the form or just remember where I was on the court or tarp. Looking back this doesn’t seem the most effective, does anyone know how I could make similar dot sheets as if it were marching band or if it should really be teaching them to address to the form. (Ps. We most likely won’t have a floor due to lower budgeting)
Curious for those that went to Indy this year, did any of the stuff BC had in their finals night change from quarters and semis? Was just rewatching some of this years vids and crowd seemed to react like it was something new a few times. Couldn’t find in stadium video from qtr/semi on YouTube to compare.
Longtime nerd and listened to thousands of hours of shows, but fallen out recently because of time constraints.
Time constraints listed: -4 yr old son -2.5 yr old daughter
...watching beauty and the beast tonight and I had never watched it as a kid, but was listening to the music and thought this would make a great piece in a show.
Anyone know of any music being used in a show that I could listen to as I go down the rabbit hole.
Also, I have found through cake recipes I can listen to a lot of shows and could find something if you point me in the right direction.
Thank you!
Personally I prefer it like this. Firstly, at first I thought dci would pay the performers but I found out it was the opposite. If a partnership happened with an NFL team and corps the team has money which could help support the finances. Second, with the partnership it could shed more light on the corps. With them doing halftime shows in front of thousands to millions of viewers more people would be engaged into the marching band scene. Lastly, with the points mentioned above more people might take marching band/dci as a serious career. Seeing how many started off in the normal band setting from middle school, high school, college, and then them proceeding on to orchestras or jazz and commercial bands and getting paid for it, the same should happen for the marching band scene. Seeing as many did it in highschool and college the same career opportunities should arise with the help of the NFL.
I'm currently a freshman in college and I play tuba, planning on (hopefully 🤞) marching contra with either Academy or Phantom this year.
Because I'm no longer in high school, I no longer have access to my contra... Just the Sousa that my university provides. And like, they're great horns. We got brand new Eastmans this year- but the issue is just that they aren't contras.
I've already reached out to the local high schools and none of them in my area even have marching band. The closest thing is their pep bands which either have Sousa's or just use the normal concert horns. So borrowing one isn't really feasible either.
So I guess my question is, does anyone have any advice for what I can do to prepare for auditions, and what I should do for when camps come? Academy put that brass players should plan on bringing their own horns so I wrote an email, but I'm just a little concerned that because I don't have access to a contra anymore that I won't be able to march.
I do have a concert tuba and a sousaphone... And my own mouthpieces as well.
Thanks
I've been looking for this CD for years now but it just never seems to crop up. I plan on ripping it and keeping and enjoying the music that way, so if anyone has the CD to rip or has already ripped the files I'd love if I could have some whole come Christmas recipes to enjoy for the upcoming season
When do you typically get your results from an in-person audition? Not regarding a 3-day camp, but a slotted time or a one-day event.
Specifically curious about Troopers, Scouts, Cavs and Phantom.
does anyone know how the blond baritone duetist distorts his tone? i’ve been trying to find info online but there’s nothing
Crossmen camp registration just went live for the weekend camps, and I was wondering, call back camp registration also went live, I am going to be registering for the normal camp, should I register for the callback camp now or wait to see if I get invited to the callback camp to register for it?
So, I have currently been working on the phantom regiment 2025 audition packet and was wondering what I should be working on and if anyone can give me some insight on the audition. I’m very nervous yet excited. I am looking to go in about 3 weeks to their in person camp as I have heard they prefer people going to the in person camp so any advice would be amazing. Thank you!!
hello everyone!! recently i made the decision to audition for atlanta cv as a woodwind player. i have a few questions about the auditon. for starters, is it even worth it to audition? i have no conducting experience, only a lot of ambition and passion. i really want to try, but i need someone to be honest with me about the situation. could i pull it off? 2nd, what in the world should i prepare? the packet says to prepare "2 pieces/movements of contrasting styles," but i'm a little lost. there are so many things to choose from. should i go with a pop song, a concert band piece, a clip from another drum corp's show, or something else? i'm struggling to decide.
thank you guys, any and all help is greatly appreciated.
This will be my first year auditioning for a corps. I’ve been playing mellophone for about 6 months now in preparation for auditioning this year. I have about a month left before camp.
I’ve been working mainly on my audition etudes and doing a lot of lip slur work so far. What are the main things I should be doing every single day to get where I need to be? What should I anticipate at the camp and during my audition? Also what are the most important skills they are looking for in auditionees?
Just noticed they havent played it since 2017. Last i could find a video of it was the B corps playing for the 2018 4th of July parade
Hi r/drumcorps! My name is Jack Williams and I am the Merchandising Coordinator with the Bluecoats! I'm going on my fourth year working with the Bluecoats, and the second year in my current position
The main point of this post: We are hiring! The 2024 World Championship winning merch team is looking for one or two people to join us on the road in 2025! The length of employment would run from roughly the last week of Spring Training to the end of season in Indianapolis. For more information and to apply, visit https://bluecoats.com/jobs/all/feed/merchandising-sales-associate
If you have any questions about the job itself, or how merch operates in a DCI sphere, or if you have an idea for something you want to be sold in 2025 (we love market research in this house), say something in the comments and I'll be sure to get back to everyone!
Hi im not from the US but im curious about members switching corps.
So like, how do members switch corps without having a heavy feeling in them? You’d spend an entire summer, everyday with a group of friends and staff and then the next year, you’re just off to another group. Watching your old corp/friends from afar in your old corp. I know its normal to do that, but does the old corp feel bitter about it? Do u tell ur old staff that you’ll switch corps next year, or is it like a secret personal decision?
Hope someone can help me!
So I’m a high school tuba player who’s planning on going to a 1 day Blue Knights camp in December. I was wondering if anyone knew whether to bring a concert horn or if the corp will supply us with contras? Also any audition advice would be much appreciated 🙏
Im a 15 year old trumpet player who is interested In joining a drum corp next year. I feel comfortable marching and I would consider myself an above average player. I plan on audition for a few groups but, I am conflicted whether or not I should only audition for groups that I have a chance of getting into or auditioning for two groups that are realistic and one group that is way more unlikely but one of the best corps.
Title. Any fundraisers and how much money made you through the season including merch ( no fees)?
