Lately, I have been thinking that only 1 hour of therapy feels too short. I can't talk about everything i want in one session. And because of this I thought that it would be amazing to be able to write all my thoughts and have my therapist read it before our session, and then let him decide how to manage the session better.
Does this make sense?
I currently have a leather-bound notebook that I use for journalling and will probably continue to use to some degree in the future. However, when it comes to frequency and discipline, I am pretty poor and therefore thinking of going digital as I think that might help. I have looked at several and am thinking about using Stoic. However, many that I look at are only available on a phone and capturing a journal entry is a lot more work on a mobile phone that a web app. I was just wondering what others are doing when its comes down to the phone app vs. web app discussion?
Being anemic:
Lately, I’ve been on a journey to improve myself and my relationships, especially with my kids. I stumbled upon an app called Era - Parent Journal & Diary, and it’s been an absolute revelation.
What I love about : ERA
Daily prompts: These make journaling a breeze, even when I’m running on fumes.
Mindfulness tools: It’s not just about writing; Era helps me reflect on my parenting style and guides me toward intentional growth.
Curated resources: I’ve found some incredible podcasts and tips through this app that I never would have discovered otherwise.
If you’re looking to strengthen your connection with your family while working on personal growth, I highly recommend checking it out. The best part? It’s free and super easy to use.
Anyone else here using journaling as a parenting tool? Let’s share tips and experiences! 🖊
I started journalling into physical diaries but quickly moved to using docs in google drive because it was:
easier to manage
accessible anywhere with my phone
I wasn't afraid to leave my "journal" unattended
But I still feel there's no alternative to the ease of being vulnerable with pen and paper.
So I was just curious to know what made you want to use a digital journal over a physical one.
I’ve been digitally journaling in Goodnotes for some time - no pre-made templates or notebooks, just used the basic Goodnotes pages. I have a paper journal as well that I use on and off. I basically use both for the same things - usually daily, weekly and monthly reflections; occasional long form venting. Sometimes I write the morning pages in Goodnotes (in a separate notebook).
I want to get into a more structured way of journaling in Goodnotes but I’m overwhelmed with all the options and templates out there.
Should I get a Goodnotes journal with prompts and reflections and stuff? And a separate journal for random venting? Or get one blank journal where I’d randomly write whatever I want - daily reflections, morning pages, venting, etc?
I’m considering getting some digital stickers / inserts with reflections or whatever I’d need so I have the flexibility to put them in a blank journal when I need to, instead of maintaining the same pre-made structure.
What’s your setup? Any journals / planners / stickers you guys can recommend?
I know there’s so many ways to digitally journal, but I’m overwhelmed and struggling to figure out what I need. It’d be helpful to get some tips and inspiration?
I've journaled intermittently and it helps me in a myriad of ways. Among other things, I can recognize patterns and avoid recurrent mistakes. I'm trying to teach myself how to avoid making the same mistakes and, in order to do it effectively, I have to journal. Journaling is also fundamental for metacognition, in other words, to think about our thoughts. I want to start journaling in a more systematic and organized way. So far, my journaling has been all over the place and chaotic.
That being said, I know that most people love handwriting but, in my case, it would defeat the purpose. Part of the benefit of journaling is looking for specific keywords and key phrases. My journal needs to be searchable.
In your opinion, what would would the best type of digital journaling be? Should I just use a Word doc? And put the timestamps? I'm open to any suggestion. I thought about creating a Gmail account and just create an individual email for each day I journal and label them. Any suggestions?
Please tell me what method you use. For example, do you journal every day at the end of the day? I know there is freedom in journaling, but I'm trying to understand what the most beneficial and effective methods are.
Thanks
Hello Reddit! Apologies in advance if I'm doubling any post from the past (also English is not my first language, so I'm sorry if anything seems chaotic).
I wanted to start journaling in 2025, as this year will mean a lot of changes for me, so I wanted to keep track of important things. I tried journaling/ paper calendars in the past, but it didn't really work for me. I have diagnosed ADHD, so I was forgetting about them or just lost interest really fast. I hate wasting paper and perfectly good calendars, that others might have used, just because I forgot about them, so I thought that maybe digital journaling is the way for me - even if I forget about them I'm not wasting any paper and money.
Do you have any apps to recommend for that purpose? I have iPad Mini, so I would really appreciate recommendations for iOS. They also don't have to be free, if you have great app to recommend, but it's a paid option, I'm also open for it.
I'm looking for an app that have kind of "journal" feeling, something that resembles real notebook (unlike, for example, Google Calendar, which I also use btw). It would be the best if it was divided by weeks and months and have a place for notes.
I mostly wanted to write down my thoughts, plans, manifestations etc., since I keep track of important events and meetings in Google Calendar already (because it can send me a notification).
I recently came across Hobonichi Weeks notebook and I really like the layout of this journal and I think that I'm looking for something similar, but of course I'm open for any recommendations!
Thank you in advance for your help <3
I keep a physical journal to write in for regular journaling. But when I really need to vent and get something off my chest, I go to my Apples notes and start typing away. And LOCK it.
I guess I just feel more secure that way.
For this month's freebies, I’ve created a handwritten font, perfect for your digital notes ❣️
(for personal use only)
The free version includes only the Regular style! (in the picture)
I’d love to hear your feedback!!
Hello! I recently just got a tablet (s9 fe) and penly, which I'm using for various things, one of which is taking notes at school.
I noticed there's no spellcheck feature (that I can find) and I cannot find mention of one (or even mention of 'darn there isnt one!') online.
Am I missing something? Is there a way to add spellcheck?
My textbook doesn't let me copy text so I type a large majority of my notes so far, and I don't want to mess up my highlights etc if I notice a mispelling in the future and go to correct it.
Also is there a way to lock the highlight? I can't figure that out either.
Sorry for both the two-pronged question and if this isn't the right sub. The penly sub is miniscule and I am really bugged out by this no spell check thing! I do love penly so far tho.
Hello Reddit!
I’m excited to share Inner Echo, a new app I’ve been working on that uses AI to assist with voice journaling. Right now, it’s focused on ephemeral conversations with an AI agent that helps you explore your thoughts and feelings. Think of it as a safe space to talk things out, reflect, and gain insights.
It's still in its early stages, but already functional and useful. I’m looking to hear how you feel about the experience so far—your insights will help refine the app and ensure it serves users like you better.
Privacy Matters:
If you’re someone who struggles with traditional journaling, feels overwhelmed, or just wants a companion to process thoughts with, I’d love for you to give Inner Echo a try.
What’s next?
I’m planning to add features like:
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you’re interested, drop a comment, send me a DM, or let me know if you'd like to try it out!
I'm searching for a specific type of digital audio recorder and hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Here's what I need:
I want to record voice notes and have them automatically processed by AI for summarization. My workflow would use services like make.com to analyze the audio files and email me summaries. The key is getting the recordings into an accessible cloud location without manual intervention.
I specifically want to avoid using my phone for recording as it's a major source of distraction. I also don't want solutions that require manually transferring files from SD cards, as that defeats the purpose of immediate analysis.
Has anyone found a recorder that fits these requirements? Most solutions I've found either require a phone app or don't have automatic cloud upload capabilities.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Right now, it's template is for habit tracking and weekly planning and recaps.
- Support Apple Pencil and stylus.
- Page flipping.
- Best for habit and task prioritization.
- Weekly planning and reflection.
- Calendar view for revisiting journal entries.
I wrote the full story on medium :)

Would love to hear your feedbacks!!
Thank you :)

Before I get into my question, I think it is important to note that I actively see a whole mental health team that is fantastic. I actively engage in treatment and I'm not in any crisis.
My Wishlist:
I sort of use ChatGPT as a digital journal but not really because I'm not sure about it's privacy policies and even though I have only ever brought up suicide when completely a research project for uni, it still kept flagging it as being potentially against guidelines.
So anything out there like this? I don't need or want it to be "therapist-like". I want it to be almost like a research buddy that also tracks patterns in my entries.
I'm planning to start journaling and I want to keep it strictly digital as journaling on a paper doesn't appeal/excite me. Would you all throw in some recommendations of online journals that you use?
I've found this one app, stoic. looks good to me, if anyone has had any experience w it, would love to hear them.
Thanks in advance!
I created my template on Canva and then downloaded it to GoodNotes. I filled a few pages with prompts I found online. I am very excited to start my digital journey.
Quick question for everyone: When you journal, do you create separate journals for different aspects of your life, like work and personal matters?
In my case, I use specific tags for people, and I've noticed that most of my recent entries are work-related, with my client’s name being one of the most frequently used tags. It feels a bit awkward to have my journal dominated by work stuff, and now I’m considering separating my work entries from the rest.
What’s your take on this? Is it better to keep everything in one journal, or should I create separate journals for work and personal stuffs? Thanks.

I’ve been wanting to start an instagram where I just get to post my short brief journals and was looking to see your thoughts and possible feedbacks.
I’m not too sure where to actually start or even if this is a good start.

I am looking for an online journal where I can share my thoughts, read other people's journals and comment and make friends. My therapist wants me to keep a journal but I hate writing just for myself. I don't want anyone in my local circle of friends or even my regular online friends. I need a completely new community. Any recommendations of journal sites that might be a good fit for me? Help, please 🙏
Hello,
if I wanted to use a free speaking platform that is absolutely safe and has no abuse notice, how would I go about it? I have no intention of doing illegal acts but I might want to communicate absolutely personal thoughts that might as well as might not attract someone's attention. I have already tried notepin.co and bearblog.dev but both are no good as the former does not properly explain the terms and conditions and the latter has a moderation system and most importantly requires an email. I tried Sigle but I can't link it to my BTC domain. Any idea? Of course I would use Tor for everything.
I’ve always been a fan of journaling the traditional way, using a paper journal. However, recently I've been thinking about trying out digital journaling. I’m curious to know what the advantages are when compared to journaling on paper. What are some of the benefits of going digital? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
Been a while now since the new update came in but I only just discovered this subreddit. Personally, I’m not a fan, as I’m not really fond of having another app keep me glued to my phone. Especially if I’d like to make journaling a daily habit.
Hey everyone! I'm exploring AI journaling apps and want to share some insights and get your thoughts on a few options I've come across. I’ve tried out some AI journaling tools in the market and here are some personal experience:
