Hey, Iโm new to Derry/Londonderry, and Iโll be around for the festive season. Just wondering if thereโs anything nice that happens around New years?
The level of guarding going on by my wife over the sweets is hilarious.
We currently have pre packed bags of "nice sweets" in a bucket for people our child can identify and a big bowl of take one for the unknowns that show up.
Is this a derry thing? I'm from a more generous county and am dead set against this trumpification of the sweets. Not enough to open my mouth as I'm eyeing up the leftovers but I'm wondering is this normal?
V last minute weโve decided to head up for the night-wonโt be there until about 7.30 (I know, but work ๐คทโโ๏ธ)
Coming from Limavady direction. Suggestions where to park? Happy to have a good walk, prefer that to sitting in loads of traffic and not seeing anything.
On my way to Christmas shop and was told a particular retailer was selling "fake goods".
Its left a doubt now! Copies are really good these days, would it be possible for a retailer to sell fake goods? ๐บ
Right folks, since it's Halloween and we are the best city for it, I'd love to hear your best spooky creepy stories.
Following to widely reported incidence or rape and sexual assault in recent weeks. Here is something we all need to be conscious of.
Defense counsel will use online comments to show that a jury pool is incapable of being unaware of the rumours and misinformation surrounding an incident and any trial can be moved to other areas. Adding further hassle for the victims. In some cases it can even put a conviction at risk.
Similarly there are lost of cases where people's reputations are left in tatters when only one side of a story is known. Or victims anonymity is destroyed because someone had to feel better about themselves by naming the suspect in a case.
This isn't twitter and we shouldn't exercise our own outrage at the expense of victims or the falsely accused. This is a Subreddit for the city, and comments made within can be construed by counsel as what is widely known locally.
Our thoughts go out to anyone affected by recent events.
Looking for somewhere to change into my halloween costume once I get there, and also just to sort out where my group might be eating
Won't mention the name of the person but it has been brought to my attention that there is a hillbillies delivery driver currently working there that I know has been involved in identity theft in the past I know this for 100 percent certainty as it was me that they stole the identity of
What football team do yous play for in derry
Think it would be great if we could share experiences especially with how mad local services are with treating it.
I'm visiting soon and wondering what's the best walking tour? There seem to be quite a few to choose from. I'd like to get a good understanding of the city and its history rather than a basic touristy one I guess (I grew up in NI before moving away but but have never visited the city).
Also looking for a reco for a restaurant for a Saturday night. We'll be a family group of seven with ages from 20s to 90, so somewhere not too noisy, and ideally makes good use of local produce. (Places I like to eat in Belfast include James St, Home and Cloth Ear in case that gives a steer).
Any other suggestions of what to do in the city itself would be welcome too ( visiting Donegal and other places in NI before/ after). Thanks a million!
I've been hearing word that Eskimo has closed down? is this true?
