Does ED make sense (CALS)?

I don't want to bother anyone. I'm a senior HS applying through ED for CALS (College of Agriculture and Science).

Just wondering my chances since the highest form of math I have is differential calc (I transferred between HS as a sophomore so that's the best my counselor could do)

My transcript is 5 years old. Does it affect my chances of getting into Cornell engineering?

I graduated high school 5 years ago and i want to apply to Cornell engineering. My transcript is very good. Last year i was rejected because i submitted a hasty application. Will my transcript or time i graduated affect my chances of admission if i take my time for this admission cycle?

Google Drive for recent grad

I know Cornell deleted access to google drive for alum pre-2023 but for those who just graduated what’s the policy here?

I know Cornell started deleting accounts in November last year so I want to know if I need to transfer my stuff or not

Jason’s Grocery at Collegetown needs to be inspected IMMEDIATELY

His frozen yogurt machines are absolutely disgusting. There are fruit flies everywhere, inside and outside the frozen yogurt machines. I didn’t know it was possible for a frozen yogurt machine to dispense dead fruit flies. I once walked in on him “refilling” the machines (and by refilling, I mean dumping buckets of yogurt without gloves, hairnets, or masks while coughing and getting fingers in the yogurt). The inside of the machine is filthy. There are spider webs, stains, chunks of decaying solid matter, and much more.

Perishable toppings like strawberries, cherries, and raw cookie dough are kept at room temperature in an open lid and is always swarmed by fruit flies. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single employee use a thermometer to check the temp for those.

I once made a wrong turn into the storage room, and that place is abysmal too. It smells like rotten food, and there’s puddles everywhere because the ceiling is leaking in multiple places. I overheard Jason telling one of his employees (who looked very uncomfortable around him) that they keep inventory in their bathroom too, and that’s why they don’t let customers in there.

He lets kids who are clearly under 21 (like kids who look fresh out of high school wearing orientation tees) buy booze, cones, juuls, and whip-its without IDing them. He also sells “flavored juul pods for cash only.” He knows exactly what he’s doing.

How has this nutjob been successfully operating since the 1980s?

Max # of credits taken for research?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but what's the number of maximum possible credits you can get for doing research? (I know this probably varies based on how much time you have, how busy you are, how many credits you're already taking, what kind of research you're doing, which department your lab is under, etc.)

I've done work as an undergrad research assistant for 1 credit (I think the maximum number they could give us was at least 3, but I didn't have enough time to put that many hours into this while also having a full courseload of classes). I'm doing research on the side now (so not currently receiving credit or pay), but I think the prof said that I could ask for credit if needed (pretty sure he'd just need to send an email or two to make it happen, but I could be wrong).

So, I was wondering, what might be a good number to ask for?

I was thinking maybe 3-4 credits, but I'm not really sure if there's a standard for how many credits you're allowed to grant to student researchers. (Hypothetically speaking, I might be able to ask for 10+ credits for being part of this research group, and he might actually say yes as long as I can justify why and then follow through.)

Side note: I feel like the amount of work any one person has to do to earn 1 credit for research could be different for any other person. Also, it's weird because I feel like I don't have much going on right now since I'm not a full time student, but I also don't want to overwork myself for no reason (let's just say that Cornell's reputation for being the "most depressed Ivy" isn't super reassuring). That's why I wanted to get other people's opinions on this.

P.S.: For context, the research group is pretty new and consists of mostly PhD students and like 2 undergrads. It's kind of under the info sci department but not everyone in it is doing an info sci degree (some are minoring in it), so I guess it's cross-disciplinary in that way.

Can I get into HR position at companies like Google, or MBB from the MILR program

I am a BBA in HR from Baruch College with a 3.84 GPA. I want to work for companies like MBB consulting firms, Google, or Blackrock. Is it possible to do so if I pursue the MILR degree at Cornell?

EEB

So I'm a current computer science undergrad, and I've realised this is not where my heart lies I want to make a switch and do my masters in the field of ecology. Anyone here who graduated from the EEB program at Cornell? What was the admissions process like for you? Do you think someone coming from a non-ecology background can be considered for this program? Once you got accepted how did the interview process take place? Any insights are appreciated!

Batman

Did anyone else see Batman last night? I guess crimes are on the rise on this side of the town. Watch out… and don’t do anything stupid.

But I honestly feel a litter safer that he’s patrolling the streets. 😌

Best time to submit Dual enrollment official transcript ?

Senior in high school and first year applicant applying for Fall 2025 RD. I’ve been taking a handful of Dual Enrollment classes since my freshman year and was curious to what would be the best time to send my community college official transcript of my dual enrollment classes ? Should it be before or after I’ve submitted my application? or After I get my Decision? If anyone could help me out with this it would be much appreciated thanks.

CALS or CAS for biology major?

I am a senior and want to apply ED to Cornell this year. I want to major in biology or something similar, so should I apply for the college of arts and life sciences (CALS) or college of arts and sciences (CAS)? I have a low SAT score (1350) and CALS is test-blind, which is why I kind of want to apply there. Thoughts? Btw I am planning on going to medical school and becoming a dermatologist, although I am still unsure.

Edit: I'm not a resident of NY so that won't impact my decision!

The Cornell parking transportation staff need to chill out

Perhaps this is a piping hot take, but the Cornell transportation services staff need to absolutely chill out with the absolute ruthless ticketing of cars on campus. I have noticed tickets on car windshields every single day, especially outside of White Hall and Morrill Hall. And for what? It is never ever as if every spot is full, but I just know that the transportation staff get absolute joy and glee from slapping $50 citations on windshields. Campus parking permits are really expensive, and I’m sure a lot of these people parking outside of the academic buildings are here for a meeting or some thing else very brief. No one is parking outside of a Cornell academic building purely for fun or to just sneakily occupy a parking spot. I would invite to the Cornell parking staff to do something more productive with their day or to less ruthlessly ticket people’s vehicles. I promise you that you are not saving the world by issuing a citation to every possible vehicle.
