Rule 1: Don't cause problems.
A pretty basic rule - don't cause issues for any reason, be it pissing people off, spamming, scamming, using this sub as your personal video dump for your crappy NFT garbage, whatever.
Reddit rules and reddiquette apply. However, reasons for mutes and bans are 100% at the discretion of the mods.
In short: be cool! This is supposed to be fun!

Hi Guys, One Of The Older Members In My Archery Club Is Getting Rid Of His Mathew Solocam Bow, How Much Is It Worth?? And It There's Worth Buying An Old Bow??
I Normally Shoot Recurve But A Member Let Me Shoot His Compound Bow And I Like It Alot.
Would It Be Worth It Or Buy A New Version Compound??
I would like a bow to start hunting. I really like the idea of the diamond edge xt. It seems like an amazing deal and good for a beginner. Are there other options that I'm overlooking that are comparable?
Hi I’m 12 years old looking for a compound bow around $300 and I want it to be about 60 pounds of draw weight if and one has bow recommendations or tips please let me know thanks.
Hi! I know little to nothing about compound bows, but I am buying one as a Christmas gift. I see lots of options on Bass Pro but have no clue what is best. My budget is $500-600. He is right handed and wants to use this for deer hunting. Please help me!
First of all, haven’t shot it like this. Second, can I do this to decrease vibrations? I mean there is just a slight gap between the cables and the dampener when I drew it(with an arrow). The gap is like 3mm. I think I shouldn’t shoot it like that, but I thought why not just ask
Currently looking for a new release I have been looking at the hbc flex and the executive flex was wondering if someone has both and could offer an opinion? Currently shooting a truball goat as a button tried it as a hinge but was not impressed.
Got my gf a bear royale for christmas and Its my first foray into compound bows. I've only ever done traditional archery. Is she going to need a release? whats a good entry level option?
Missed a shot at a buck last night at dusk. I found the fletching and longest part last night. Couldn't remember ever breaking an arrow into 3 pieces before. Went back this morning and found a third piece, and now realize I broke it into 4.
I also think I see what caused me to miss, namely a piece of brush invisible in the dusk. Still can't think of a way to break into 4 pieces, unless it deflected under him, and he stomped on it hard enough to do this.
Will wax fix this or do I need a new string?

Hi guys whats your opinion on a thumb release vs a trigger I've only ever shot a trigger but thinking of getting a thumb release?
so i’m just getting into archery. i bought my first compound bow, i took it to the shop to get it set up and the shop worker told me that the max draw length on the bow was to short for my size. (im 6’4” 180lbswith lanky limbs) so he told me i would need a bow set to 31 inch draw length. he said the only other bow in their shop that would work for me was in the 800 dollar range and i was just not looking to spend that much money for a hobby im just getting into. should i save my money and buy the bow from the shop so he can set it up to my specifications, or should i order a bow online that is big enough for me and just get it set up. if so any recommendations on which bows to order that would work well with my size? i’m wanting to spend within the 500-600 dollar range. thank you!!
Hey all, need some advice. Easy TLDR points:
I'm totally new to archery but did gun target and tactical shooting for years and shot the athlete minimum qualification points. Not from US so in Europe getting a license to own gun is connected to shooting x points as a sportsman.
Moved to a new place and gun range is not nearby but there is an archery range! Yaay!
I enjoy the point and shoot and the tactical shooting element (moving and shooting) but have almost zero interest in the classic sporting elements
Which means a normal bow is off but compound bow is on
I'm 6-3 or 190cm tall if that matters
I know nothing about how to select a bow but I like easy compound bows
Should I consider a crossbow instead?!
I love to watch repeating crossbows and crossbow pistols on YT :D (coming from gun background right? :D)
Max budget is 500$ so the athlete style bows from Hoyt etc are out
I thank any help 💙
Hey everyone! I am a complete newbie to archery, but decided to take the leap. I primarily want to get into target and small game/ upland hunting. I have been browsing the used market local to me and I found an APA viper air 50LB bow. Specs wise, it does seem like this bow will fit me and it is a good deal (trading for a cheap shotgun I don’t use) I am aware it is older now (2014 release I believe) It does come fully set up with quiver stabilizer, arrow rest and release.
Another thing to keep in mind, is I fully intend to purchase a new heavier bow before next fall if I do like the sport all together.
If you think the viper air isn’t worth it please let me know why and maybe save me the regrets TIA
I recently switched to this bow from the Kinetic Static. My draw weight is around 58lbs and I’ve been doing compound archery for around 1.5 years. I mainly do competitive archery which is why I bough this instead of something like the Pse Stinger. Does anyone have any experience with this bow and is it any good?
Here is the bow in full, the Limbs with their branding and one of the new rockers
What do we think
Hi! Can someone tell me witch screwsize I need to mount my SpotHogg sight on my TRX? I need to order the screws online, because I cant get imperial screws at the hardware store in my part of the world.
I've been shooting bows for awhile. I had a recurve and a 55lb compound for years, last year I upgraded to a 70-80lb compound. A few months ago I let a family member shoot the bow and before I could explain how to he pulled it back and dry fired it... the string exploded and sliced his arm open, I had never seen this happen before.
With the backstory out of the way here is my question: I just got my bow back from the shop a few towns over and they added an adjustable peep sight, I don't know if it had one before but I have never used one before. Knew I learned some things the wrong/different way being self taught but I'm not sure how I went this long not knowing about a peep sight. Is it that important if I can shoot consistently on target? It seems like a really cool idea obviously but no matter how much I adjust it, I can't get it to lineup with my sites.
So I’m fairly new to shooting bows and I have a Mission MXR compound bow, I shoot hunter gold tip 340 arrows when I have practice tips on I can group my arrows very closely together but I recently put a 125g broad head on to see what my grouping would be and I can’t get them to group together I physically can see the arrow with broad heads on it go all over the place before hitting the target. I guess my question would be should I try a different weight broad head or different arrows?
So I've had this bow for a while, I used to shoot it a lot in comp until the top left Rocker exploded, at the time coaches at the club I was at tried to and failed to locate the correct parts to replace it, finding a slightly different Rocker which they carved down until it fit the bow, but that did not take long to blow-up as well...
Nowadays I shoot a prime bow instead, however I miss shooting this lovely Hoyt bow, it served me very well until its untimely demise, and I still have it, gathering dust, and I figured several years on, maybe I'd see if there were any options for replacement of the broken rockers?
I know the model is long discontinued so its probs tricky to find, and I've personally had a bit of a scour online for the part, and I've found some, but I'm not sure if they're correct? https://www.pats-archery.com/HOYT-Rocker and I've tried searching the Bow and Limbs part specs and not turned anything up. For reference the bow is I believe the 50-60pound spiral cam right handed version, it uses XT2000 limbs and I have a photo of the broken part here.
If anyone could help me find the correct parts name/type and/or help me connect me with a supplier of said part?
UPDATE:
So me 7 or so years ago was smart, I kept a bit of the broken rocker, and I could make out the size number that's on the side of them, which was 6.
So I ordered the part online, I also rang the place and told them what was up and they agreed that it seemed this was the correct part.
I have them now, I haven't had an opportunity to fit them yet because you need to put the bow into a specialized vice to destring it and take the limb assembly apart, but I've slipped the rocker into the empty space I showed in my original post to see if the widths are right, and they are, and they look like exactly the same size as the 3 other rockers on the bow.
My plan is to take it to my club, because I know people there know how to safely destring and disassemble compound bows, and the club has the right equipment. if you don't have that your next best bet is an archery shop, or sometimes gun stores also sell and service bows too.
Now for anyone else with this issue, I don't believe the Vantage Elite had many variants, in my research I found it was just two, the spiral and non spiral cam ones, but that being said, double check yours, I'd assume if yours has the same frame and limbs you'd have the same sized rockers.
If you want to be sure you can take it to a shop to destring, because unfortunately the size number while being on the rockers, is on the side of it, so you can't see it when they're fitted to the bow, you have to take them out 😭.
Also could not work out how to add new images so I made a seperate post, here are photos of the full bow, the limbs and one of the new rockers. https://www.reddit.com/r/CompoundBow/comments/1gihv9i/update_to_hoyt_vantage_elite_the_images/
I see my sight like it shows in the bottom left image.
Help, I just had my D-loop changed because it was all frayed. It was tied in the same spot but now I can't see my full front sight, I can't see the right side of the front sight even though my front sight is pretty much all the way left. What would cause this so I can't see my whole right side of my sight and how can I fix this. My groupings are off to the right a little bit now too
My boyfriend is new to hunting and got an evo xf 33. I want to get him a case for his birthday next week and hoping to stay around $150. He likes nice gear and tactile style. Please let me know if you have any recommendations! I figured hard case might be better so he can toss it in the back of his truck but i’m open to other ideas. Thanks!
I am a very weird specimen, possibly an experiment. Sports like baseball, football, soccer etc I always use my left side to throw and kick. Fine motor skills like writing, using utensils, pressing the trigger on a firearm I use my right hand. My right eye is dominant.
From my firearms experience I was told if you are cross eye dominant you should train with the same side as your eye dominance. Is this the same for shooting compound bows?
