When I bought my 97 the infinity tweeters were junk, so I just rode without them. I finally took the time to find replacements that would fit in the original plastic pieces, dremelled them out to fit the new speakers, and put it all back together. Ironically though, the speaker system as a whole sounds worse because the one on the right picks up interference from the alternator(it's like a high pitched noise that is in tune with the car's rpms so I think its that), and also, sometimes the blinker. Sometimes, the blinker noise will be also transmitted through just one of the tweeters I installed, the right one. I do not understand how that works. The right one also occasionally pops and has static. I am going to ad a capacitor and see if that helps, but is this at all a common issue? Is there anywhere I can check to see if there is a short or wire breaking? Jiggling the wires around in that little tube from the door to the body does not activate any of this, so I am assuming its not there. But I will tear it apart if I don't have a better option.
Looking for ideas on what to check- I just installed an Ironman 4x4 steering brace into my XJ and took it for a spin. I threw it into 4WD to see how the steering response changed going up an inclined street but heard an awful screeching sound that seemed to match vehicle speed/rpms. Started as soon as I gave it gas, and it was the bottom so pretty flat road. It doesn’t see a lot of 4WD and generally needs an alignment, the sound was gone as soon as I switched back to 2WD. Went up the hill fine in 2WD.
I’m going to check my transfer case fluid level, but anything else to watch? All of the driveline should rotate regardless of 4wd or 2WD so I’m not sure what could be the issue??
Planning to remove front driveshaft and see if the noise persists, and then move down the driveline to check for issues.

I’ve already got a new steering dampener that I’m going to put on, I’m waiting till after winter to do a full front end rebuild because I work very slow and my jeep is my 4x4 backup vehicle so I can’t have it inoperative for to long. TIA
I got super busy with thanksgiving stuff so I don’t have engine bay pics yet. But: here is a video I did a while ago on my intercooler setup. Hope it helps! And I’ll snap some engine bay photos soon.

Hi folks!
I’m at the point where I’m gonna go up to 33’s. I’ve got the gears, everything necessary for it, but I loathe a high-COG vehicle.
I know that running like a 33x12.50r15 would require loads of trimming, but bear with me here…
I’m picking up some Tensor Regulator 2’s, in 33x10r15 flavor. My thought process here is that the narrower tire will need less space as the wheel moves through its steering arc, potentially saving me from having to cut so much of my fenders to accommodate that.
I know that up travel is an issue, and that’s one I’ll deal with. Also, don’t bother telling me that it’s a UTV tire. It’s DOT rated, it’s got a weight capacity that I’m comfortable with given my jeeps weight, and this thing never goes above 75 anyway.
Looking to get a better ride and exchange my 3.5 Rubicon Express 3.5 springs for 3.5 metalcloak springs
Been having this rattle for a few days at first it was only when I would give it gas but not it’s just doing it constantly sounds like it’s coming from the dash maybe I don’t even know
My 1990 has a transmission power switch and im not exactly sure what it does, is it like an over drive switch?
Alright, so I think I know what the issue is, but now I need to figure out how to fix it. I just put in a new intake, and now the climate control randomly changes under load. So it’s a vacuum issue. Question is, why? Would this be the pcv sticking and loosing all the vacuum? Could the vacuum ball be leaking? Just trying to understand why one of those intakes would cause this issue?
Maybe try to find snow in the mountains tmr
Any ideas? 🤔 Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Not driving it until I figure it out.

Just last week a humming noise has started up while the car is running — increases when RPMs increase.
Belt and pulleys seem fine… not sure why it started; regularly maintained and driven roughly 30 miles a week.
So I've spent the last few months really focusing on getting my xj fixed up and back on the road, and forgot one of the main reasons for buying it: seller said it was stroked. I took it to work a few days ago and one of my coworkers recognized it and confirmed he knew the seller, and that it is indeed stroked.
Question is, how I prove it to myself, or a buyer in the future?
Believe it or not, having a front end accident and then cutting out a section of frame and welding a new one in, doesn't leave the frame straight or strong. In the long term I'd like to swap the drive train into a clean body and I'd like to know that it's gonna be worth my time.
What’s your favourite XJ related channel to watch on YouTube?
Mine would definitely have to be Workshop to Wilderness.
PFA is his, one beautiful Jeep!
Been doing this the past couple days, what could be the cause and how do I fix it?
Hello! I just bought a 2000 XJ that had a lot of stuff replaced so it’s in fairly decent condition and has 63,000. Every thing has been good so far but noticed a rough idle - then I got a P0303. The mechanic I like is about an hour drive. Would it be fine to drive or will it cause more damage? It’s been driving fine otherwise.
