Why in the world did the writers give Andrew so much screentime and a seemingly never ending amount of throwaway jokey lines that almost never land?
Felt like a tremendous waste of time sacrificed for him when you’ve got so many new characters introduced into the plot that we know so little about.
Andrew stans come for me lol he was annoying and so un-likeable up until maybe the last two episodes.
Is the only for me, but Buffy's Season 5 is soo depressing. Poor Joyce, honestly second day watching that and my eyes swollen like a hell. 😭😢😢
For me it's Katrina. Just a solid person who seemed pretty chill but also took care of herself. Seemed to be very earnest but not in a boring way. When Warren acted sketch in "I Was Made to Love You," she tried to establish open communication with him and gave him a chance to explain himself. Once she realized he was dishonest and put her life in danger, she was out of there. And when she got kidnapped, she kicked their asses. She was so close to escaping. She literally did everything right and was good at it, but that didn't save her. I don't know, it just gets me every time.
She's kind of a perfect person but without it feeling like an unrealistic one-dimensional character. I know that was the point--she was kind of like the 21st century nerdy sexist boy's fantasy of a girl. She was a hottie who gave the nerd a chance because they shared common interests. Many good relationships start that way. But for her, it was a death sentence
Someone posted asking what's your favorite line from a non main character. Claire Cramer was a guest star so I don't know if she is considered a main..and the post made me decide to write this one today!
She's watching the show for the time. The last episode she's seen is The Gift.
rewatching s7 and im at the scene where they all go against buffy... they were sort of right i fear. Buffy had gotten 2 of the potentials killed and Xander's eye gouged out and was planning on doing it again with nothing in place to prevent it from happening again.
She had been treating them all like shit so i understand why they were all so hostile. Obvi kicking her out of her own house is NUTS but she was being reckless, cold, ruthless and was going to get them all killed without second thought.
this isnt me bashing buffy btw thats my ultimate diva however, she isn't perfect because nobody is, and if she were perfect and always made the right decisions she'd be boring.
seeing people endlessly bash this scene made me think that buffy was an innocent helpless victim in this situation but she is very clearly the instigator.
She had good intentions but that doesnt mean much when your actions get other people hurt and killed.
People treat the scoobies like they were all chomping at the bit to get her out when it was very clearly breaking them all (-minus anya) up inside to turn on buffy.
Ignore any and all spelling mistakes, i was hit over the head with a frying pan as a child.
After yesterday’s thread, I realized just how rude Willow can be at times. Now today let’s hear some of Xander’s rudest and/or sassiest lines (let’s try to narrow it down lol)
Buffy almost had a college friend. RIP Eddie.
Who's your one favorite and least favorite character that is not Buffy, Willow, Spike, Angel, Xander or Giles? (This includes both the Buffy and Angel show)?
Who is your favorite and least favorite character from only Buffy (excluding the characters listed above)?
Who is your favorite and least favorite character from only Buffy (all characters included)?
Who is your one favorite and least favorite character from the Buffy universe ( includes both shows, and all characters)?
Who is your favorite and least favorite character from only Angel?
Who's your favorite big bad?
Who your favorite monster of the week?
Sorry if this gets posted a lot. I know the questions are probably asked often, but idk if all at once, so I was just interested in seeing answers all in one post!
If you're having a hard time deciding you can name 2 characters. Also if I asked the same question twice I apologize, I don't think I did, but I just woke up so my brain isn't at full function yet :)
If they were not in the main credits when they said it, that also counts
Is Dracula the same type of vampire as the demons that buffy is always killing. Does he maintain his soul and why aren't there more vampires like Dracula in the series.
I'm rewatching BtVS for the 3rd time. I'm up to season 5.
I can never remember if the show specifically goes into it. But, Spike is a vampire. A demon. He is a soulless killing machine (albeit with a brain muzzle). Yet, he falls in love with Buffy.
But I question - can demons truly ever love as we as humans know it? Or was it just obsession as a demon that evolved into love once Spike had his soul back?
It never occurred to me before this 3rd rewatch.
Just curious!
Either way, he is my favourite, and I loved the Buffy and Spike coupling.
Apologies if formatting is off - on mobile.
Willow uses her magic for both good or bad. However, I think we sometimes forget that the other Scoobies also fell to the temptations that magic provides. I've tried to compile a list of all magical misdeeds.
Buffy: Tries to use her telepathy to read Angel's mind. All the shenanigans she gets up to when invisible. She doesn't ask for these powers, but once she has them, she's not above exploring them.
Angel: Changes the memory of all his friends, because he does not trust them with the knowledge of Connor, robbing them of some quite relevant context for understanding how their lives turned out the way they did (seeing how much of the group's drama started with Wesley abducting Connor). Opening a portal to Quortoth, almost ending the world.
Dawn: Turns her mother into a zombie.
Spike: Helps turn Joyce into a zombie. Plans to give Angel a disease and to cast a love spell on Drusilla. It is also sometimes believed that Spike is against the resurrection of Buffy, which is not true, and he is fine with Angel calling on Willow help again to restore Fred to life.
Xander: Blackmails Amy into casting a love spell. Summons Sweet. Assists in bringing back Buffy.
Giles: Summons a demon to spice up his orgies. Refuses to tell anyone about it when said demon comes to Sunnydale.
Tara: Casts a spell to hide what she believes is her true nature on all the Scoobies. Reluctantly helps resurrect Buffy.
Anya: Too many to count. Let's keep it to kick-starting the Russian revolution and handing Sunnydale over to The Master.
Faith: Steals Buffy's body. Aids in a failed plot to steal Angel's soul by magic.
Cordelia: Wishes Buffy away from Sunnydale. She doesn't immediately realize what she's done, but once she does, she calls Anya a "good fairy" and laughs triumphantly.
Jonathan and Andrew: Too many to list.
Amy: Same.
It always felt like a loose end to me that he died before we found out exactly what he was up to. I think we're meant to infer he was starting to worry that things with the mayor were going too far (there are hints of that earlier in the episode) but as an avid TV watcher and industry professional myself, it still seems like there's a piece of the story that's missing, like a cut scene or something that would've fleshed out that character arc a bit more. Maybe he had a lead he was going to give them--doesn't it look a bit like he had a piece of paper in his breast pocket?--and Faith was supposed to find it on him when she doubled back but then they abandoned that idea. Anyone know?
Firstly, I want to be clear that wiping someone's memory and having sex with them is absolutely SA.
However I don't think that was Willow's motive, or the writer's intention. I think Willow does it because she associates fighting with Tara with disaster.
The last time we saw Tara and Willow fight, in Tough Love (S5, e19), it ended with Willow leaving Tara to go to the festival alone. At the festival, Tara is attacked by Glory. This is what leads Willow to turn to seek out the Darkest Magicks book for the first time- it's essentially the turning point that leads us to Dark Willow.
The writers even go out of their way to highlight that Willow is going to be traumatised by this- she goes to the magic shop and talks to Giles, who points out that they rarely fight and that Willow will feel better after this one, when she learns that one fight isn't the end of the world. Except it is the end of the world, and she almost loses Tara.
It totally makes sense that after that Willow cant handle fighting with Tara, and she needs to stop to to keep everyone safe. Though of course she ended up hurting Tara instead.
am i the only one that is grossed out by this creeper?
Every day I’m grateful we got a whole season of them. They have the coolest dynamic in the entire Buffyverse in my opinion. The rivalry, the begrudging respect, the bromance, just perfection. Sad we didn’t get more seasons of them.
