According to the club chair on the Roar Deal podcast prior to the grand final, the club has net $4 mil of debt to the AFL remaining from a total $14 mil in 2018.
With the premiership, just missing out on the McLelland trophy and continued record membership, viewership and sold out home games, on top of the club being in contention for several more years, if not a decade, how long do we think until the debt is paid?
Lions def Saints by 27 points.
Team | QT | HT | 3QT | FT| ---|---|----|----|----|---- Lions | 4.5 29 | 4.7 31 | 10.8 68 | 10.8 68 | saints | 1.0 6 | 2.1 13 | 3.3 21 | 6.5 41 | Difference | Lions by 23 | Lions by 18 | Lions by 47 | Lions by 27 |
Nearly all Lions in the 1st, could've been up by 30+ with slightly better accuracy. 28 - 0 before the Saints scored late in the 1st. Far more even 2nd, Lions went goalless and the Saints only goal came from a 50. Nearly all Lions in the 3rd, Lions kicked 4 goals in the first 4 mins of the quarter. Mostly Saints in the 4th.
Taylor Smith will win the Coleman, Tied with Aishling Moloney from the Cats.
Davidson will probably get looked at for a hit early in the 2nd which resulted in the Saints 2nd goal. Intentional, Low, High is a week. Careless conduct is a fine and negligible impact is nothing.
For the McClelland Trophy: Hawks won it by 6 points.
For Finals: Lions will finish 3rd.
Lions will play Hawks in a QF next week (Either at Ikon? or Kinetic Stadium?)
Pretty disappointed in the club for the steep increase in my Ultimate Weekender membership. Leaves a sour taste in my mouth tbh… They’ve had a huge increase in merch sales since the GF win and now the eyes are rolling and they’re looking to cash in on us. I feel let down by the club I’ve been a member with since 2020. Is anyone else a bit shocked at the brazen cash grab at our expense?
Hey Lions lovers, please forgive my ignorance in what im about to ask, but as a Victorian, ive always been a home supporter but now that my kids are a bit older i want to start taking them to the footy more to support our boys.
Any help is much appreciated! Go lions!
As a 10+ year member and casual part time member for some time before, I am absolutely ecstatic with our success. I have been around to enjoy the wooden spoon and less than half filled Gabba's.
But I am not so ecstatic at all that the Premium seats I have had for the last 5 years have now been reclassified as Deluxe and now come with a 39% increase.
Supply and demand I know but still outrageous and sadly no thought of impact on long-time members.
I love the seats I have but with a family it really makes me pause. Sadly, it all seems to be just about the money of field.
Last time v the Saints/at RSEA Park, Highlights. (R9 2023. Lions only really played the 2nd and 4th quarters, The 1st and 3rd were bad and all Saints. This is the Brisbane Lions only game at RSEA Park/Moorabbin oval until this weekend. The Bears played there 6 times, Fitzroy played there 21 times).
Last win v the Saints, Highlights. (R6 2022A at Sandringham. Lions had a load of the ball but just couldn't kick, Lions were 0.11 before their first goal then finally kicked 3 goals in a row. These are also the only 2 games v the Saints, Lions have never played them outside of Melbourne.
Injury List: Davidson (concussion) Test (expected to return). Yoshida-Martin had knee soreness before the game last week but is fine this week. Pregelj (ACL) has been taken off the AFLW injury list (hasn't been on the Lions one all season).
Game Day Guide: Tickets here. On the Frankston Line, Moorabbin Station is around 1km away from the ground.
Please note that metal-tipped umbrellas are prohibited from entering the venue.
It's the 2nd week of Indigenous round.
Ellenger: "We're very adaptive"
Implications:
For the McClelland Trophy: Need Hawks to lose v Tigers and Lions to win v Saints. Anything outside that including a Hawks draw (2 points up if the Lions win) or a Lions draw (2 points down if the Hawks lose) means the Lions would finish 2nd.
For Finals: Lions will very likely finish top 4 and can't finish below 5th. Freo in 5th could knock the Lions out but they are a win and 40+% behind. Lions can't finish 1st but can finish 2nd if they win by enough and the Hawks lose by enough, 3rd if they win or if the Crows also lose and 4th if they lose and the Crows win.
2-5 Ladder before the round:
Pos | Team | Pts | % | Next Week |
---|---|---|---|---|
2 | Hawthorn | 36 | 192.7% | Sun v Tigers (2:05pm AEST) |
3 | Brisbane | 32 | 184.7% | Sun v Saints (12:05pm AEST) |
4 | Kuwarna (Crows) | 28 | 179.8% | Fri v Cats (6:15pm AEST) |
5 | Walyalup (Freo) | 28 | 133.7% | Sun v Dogs (6:05pm AEST) |

Lions also re-signed McLachlan (2026), Lloyd (2026) and Beecken (2025) with Craven (2025) and Joyce (2025) also re-signed if they get re-rookied.
Lions don't have anyone out of contract heading into 2025 but currently have 16 players out of contract at the end of 2025.
Lions currently have picks 27, 34, 42, 43, 49, 60, 66 (2531 points). Also have F1 (Lions), F3 (Dons) and F4 (Lions).

Anyone else notice this? $50 in 2024, $100 in 2025. Club cashing in on the team's success I guess.
I just got my membership renewal email for 2025 and renewed instantly, then attempted to add on the september member option only for it to say priority 1 is currently sold out. How on earth do I do the right thing and wait for the renewal email as the website told me to, and september member is ALREADY sold out?! So I never got the chance to add it on. Does anyone know if there will be further sales for september member?
'In 2025 General Admission is subject to capacity excluding fully-ticketed games. A fully-ticketed game means you must upgrade to a reserved seat to access.'
A bit confused about this additional note for GA membership. Does this mean there's a possibility for some games there won't be enough seats available for GA so I would need to actually buy a reserved seat?
Got my 2024 premiership jersey and I like how the unevenness of 23 players leaves a spot where number 46 should be ❤️
I'm guessing that this guarantees (subject to availability of course) Vic members will have GA entry to ALL h&a matches fixtured at MCG and Marvel + their choice of any 5 h&a Gabba matches? That, plus the finals access For $175 is pretty great value tbh.
How new is this? Previous Vic membership I bought (a couple of years ago) only gave entry to Marvel. It was imo not great value. Impressed to see so much value in Vic memberships now. Curious to see what the member packs are like, because they've been increasingly lacking over the past few years.
Lions def Swans by 68 points.
Team | QT | HT | 3QT | FT| ---|---|----|----|----|---- Lions | 2.0 12 | 4.6 30 | 5.9 39 | 11.12 78 | Swans | 1.0 6 | 1.0 6 | 1.1 7 | 1.4 10 | Difference | Lions by 6 | Lions by 24 | Lions by 32 | Lions by 68 |
Even 1st. Swans kicked the first, Lions kicked 2 late in the quarter. Nearly all Lions in the 2nd. Lots of Lions rebounds, Missed 3 gettable shots early but kicked 2.2 in the last 5 mins. Slightly closer 3rd but Lions still largely controlled it with some inaccuracy. All Lions in the 4th.
Mullins may have an MRO issue with a bump in the second, but she should be fine (player didn't go off, was very close to the ball).
Shanae Davison kicked her first goal for the Lions in the third. 2nd in her career, First was for the Eagles v the Crows in R10 2023.
For the McClelland Trophy: Need Hawks to lose next week (v Tigers) and Lions to win (v Saints).

Righto.
Are we (club and fans) going into next season with the Brisbehinds mentality, or have we ✨let it go✨ and found our form?
Form being the following buzz phrases:
This whole last season I would joke to friends it’s ‘death by 1000 behinds’ and ‘behinds win the game’, which IS true. And I love the meme.
But being a serious contender going forward would be nice.
I’m a VIC member so I’m not really across QLD politics. Do we get VIC Park, or status quo now the LNP is in?
Still smile every time I see it!
Last time/win v the Swans, Highlights. (R3 2023. More Swans in the 3rd but the other 3 quarters were controlled by the Lions. This is also the only time).
Injury List: Davidson (concussion) TBC (probably back next week). Pregelj (ACL) has been taken off the AFLW injury list (hasn't been on the Lions one all season).
Game Day Guide: Tickets here, No trains this weekend for Ipswich and Springfield lines (buses will replace).
It's Indigenous round this week.
→ This week for Indigenous Round we have a Long Walk Lap of Honour and Indigenous performances too!

Lions urged to regain 'proactive' ways after concerning loss.

Hartill will play her 25th AFLW game. (16 at WCE, Will play her 9th for the Lions this weekend).
Do we try and play with 2 ruckmen and have one resting forward as another tall option where Daniher used to play? Do we just go back to Big O and Darcy to the VFL? Would be kinda harsh to be a premiership ruckman and be in the VFL but Big O will be the number 1 when fit. It’s a good problem to have.
