Got this 2019 Bolt EV for $11100 out the door with the used EV tax credit. 66k miles and the battery was replaced at 29000 miles. I have until 129000 miles until the battery warranty expires.
Autotrader and others don’t include the ability to mark Super Cruise as a feature when listing a Bolt EUV. That feature alone seems to add a few grand to the price for the Bolt EUVs.
I know some people are looking to used Bolt EUVs as the least expensive way to get super cruise - are there any services I’m missing where I can list and include this? I’m about to just go the Facebook marketplace route at this point.
I am think about buying one..I have a 65 km highway ( one way) commute to work.. I will also be driving in winter conditions. Should I be looking at this car?
And how long did it take you?
I haven’t done a ton. Maybe 260 to 300 but it wasn’t a long day either. I think I started at 11:15 AM and completed the trip around 6:30? Don’t remember for sure but I had lunch while charging and also charged a second time “just in case” before heading the last little distance home. I might have gone shopping or something too. Definitely not pushing it hard.
Anyone done some really high mileage days?
Hey Everyone! I'm trying to help my parents buy their first EV and we are currently in the process of purchasing a 22 Bolt EUV LT, but I'm wanting to check with the folks that know what they are talking about before we go to the dealer this weekend to finalize. Below are some details about the car, please let me know if you think its worth going for!
2022 Bolt EUV LT with 2 previous owners, and 17450 miles.
It's a base model, with none of the option packages.
Price tag is $20,497 (not including tax credit and taxes).
It's got a clean title and a lifetime efficiency of 4.5mi/kWh.
It has been at the dealer for about 90 days now.
CarGurus says it is a good deal at $1,390 below market price.
It does not come with a EVSE.
There no active recalls on the car, and the battery was replaced in January 2023 for the recall.
We live in a HCOL area (SF Bay Area) so car prices are pretty inflated.
One hesitation from my parents is that it is a Hyundai dealership trying to sell the car, so they don't know a ton about it and were not sure how to check battery health when we asked. I bought a OBD2 Dongle and am going to bring it next time to see if I can figure it out (any tips appreciated on that as well). We also plan to get it taken to and inspected by a mechanic before going though with the purchase.
Please let me know if you have any recommendations, advice, or follow-up questions! I really appreciate the help!
I've noticed I lose about 3-4 PSI when I refill air every 2 weeks or about 300-500 miles. From 38 down to 34-35.
In my previous car, I used to lose about 1-2 PSI (33 to 31-32) over the same period, though it is likely I drove less, possibly even significantly.
This is across all tires, and they are all Continental PureContact.
I've been looking at Chevy Bolts on Carvana for a few months but thought I could wait for the Chevy Bolt 2025 if they ever release it! But now with Trump taking office, do I need to worry about getting an EV? Will there still be tax incentives? I was going to buy used anyway, but I think they might still have incentives on used, idk. I haven't bought a car since 2011 and I really want an EV. I can only afford around $20k. What should I do?
Does anyone know where I can get blades I spend 3hrs looking at different stores an nothing. I look thru all the threads is my only option to change the silicon on the blade myself? Is there a way I can take of the metal end piece in the photo and switch it to an easier to find adapter?
Hey all, I'm seeing some premier bolts for sale in the Seattle area in the $11.5-$14k range.
They all have branded titles though. Should I be concerned about this in terms of resale value?
I have been meaning to write this since I got asked the question in the title by a smug ICE user in a gas guzzling truck. It was about a week after the Hurricane Helene devastation and I was standing in my ruined yard in front of my obviously destroyed home (still displaced for at least another month). This was shortly after the gas stations were just getting reopened and the ICE users were starting to feel like they could move about our town freely again. Maybe this gentleman thought it funny that not only was our house destroyed but we also our poor electric car to deal with...but I just laughed...here's why:
We actually have 3 bolts - while our house got smashed, the cars were amazingly all fine in the driveway. Not only that, we had all topped off knowing the weather "might" get bad. Once the stores began reopening, we were able to run our errands and move about town with very little hit to our range (a lot of stop and go and slow driving in the aftermath...our town got hit very hard). The beautiful thing is...just 2 miles down the road, across the river is the downtown area of our border state. It was fine, no big trees to do damage, no power loss AND there is a garage that belongs to our local university that has a whole wall of electric chargers - some Tesla and even more non-Tesla AND they turned off the fees for the garage parking so that charging was FREE. All they asked was that you move your car when it was done charging!!! 1 block away from the garage was the coffee shop with power and internet that we made our home base for the first 2 weeks of chaos. My daughters' ICE car had to be parked while our Bolts did the heavy lifting, with free "fill ups" whenever we needed it. The irony is that during that first week when the whole town was without power, we were able to breeze by the cars lined up at gas stations as they were waiting for the power to come back on so they could use the pumps - they literally parked and camped out so they could get gas just as soon as the pumps turned back on.
Maybe I am just super lucky to live in a town where most EVs are Teslas and the EV infrastructure is above average. There are plenty of Tesla specific chargers, but there is also plenty of non-Tesla charging available - the mall (free), the university parking garage (free with the cost of parking...$7 max). Also, our commutes are such that we generally are able to keep all 3 of our Bolts sufficiently charged with 1 level one charger. Maybe the guy in the truck wasn't trying to be a jerk, but with all we had been through with the house I was happy to be able to point out that our EVs had done better than most gas vehicles.
TL/DR - our 3 Chevy Bolts got us through a Hurricane disaster with free charging, no gas pump lines, and no worries about how we would stay mobile through this crisis (you should have seen the truck guys' face when I told him about the free charging)!! After this, I have no EV anxiety at all (range or otherwise)!
I've read the leather seats have actual leather on the center of the seats where there are perforations and the rest is leatherette, whatever that means. Is the fake leather made of PU or PVC? Looked around a bit but couldn't find that info, does anyone know? Thanks
Good afternoon everyone,
Just wanted to ask the community for some advice. My wife and I currently have a buyback 2020 bolt premier that we absolutely love. We purchased it last December and it’s been a dream to own.
We recently found a dead stock 2023 bolt EUV Lt with the red line package for sale. It’s brand new with 23 miles on it and the dealership is asking 29,290. I would qualify for the $7500 upfront rebate as well as the $500 first responder discount. Additionally, the state of Pennsylvania offers a $3000 rebate. We were offered $12,000 cash for our bolt premiere which is over 10,000 miles.
I know we would be giving up some options by going to the EUV, but it would be brand new and it would be a clean tile. What are your thoughts?
Hi all, just got a Bolt and am figuring things out. I have a very short commute 2 miles one way to work so most days only 4 miles. The battery should last a while without a charge but I was wondering if this is not good for it or what is best for it? If the charge lasts for a month and I don’t charge for a month is that bad? I also don’t know if keeping it topped up all the time is bad. Any thoughts?
Website did not list my VIN as having any open recalls; but dealer said my 2020 does need the software update when I took it in for the 30% reduced propulsion warning.
Hey y'all quick question. There are two Chevy Bolts for sale:
Which seems like the better deal?
If anyone wants to DIY your coolant drain/fill (HVAC, power electronics) in the Greater Seattle area north to Bellingham and you want to borrow a vacuum generator (using compressed air)...I'm happy to lend you mine. I will share my experience, too...main part is that the HVAC loop has to be "burped" with a computer at the dealership (a set of valves need to get opened in a sequence), but that was only half an hour (min) of shop time. Anyway, just wanted to share as it's just sitting here.
Checked charging progress and this message made me smile.
A major rental car brand has a retail spot that sells their used fleet cars. They have a number of 2023 Bolt 1LTs with ~40k miles for sale in the $15k range. Seems too good to be true. Wondering if there is a catch here? Or if anyone has purchased from a similar place - what was your experience?
Thinking of buying a 2023 from Hertz but worried repairs will get harder now that the cars (and I’m guessing parts soon) are discontinued. Thoughts?
Nothing has been wrong with it, it's for a new battery. We just bought a hybrid maverick and it's been getting most of our love.
Carvana has given us a mix of offers ranging from 7-15k over the past 4 months. It just seems wild that the price of it can be so volatile.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Does anyone know if running the climate control, entertainment system, etc make the bolt charge any slower? I feel like if a rapid charger is able to put out say 60kW, and the battery can only take like 52kW of that, the excess could be used to run stuff like the climate control.
This has been a topic of debate as my wife and I are taking our Bolt on it's first ever cross country road trip on these colder November days.
I have been having a major problem with my Bolt, and Chevy thinks I'm crazy.
Two times over the past month, my Bolt has completely died. The power system still worked, but it would not shift into gear. I got the message "Conditions not right to shift."
I was able to "hard restart" the Bolt by disconnecting the positive battery cable, waiting a minute, and hooking it back up. This immediately fixed the problem, and I was able to keep going.
I finally got the car into Chevy, and they said that when I disconnect the battery it erases the error codes, so they don't know what is wrong. They said next time it happens I just need to leave it along and have it towed to the dealership. (Like WTF)
Anyone else deal with this? Chevy has had the car for over a week, pretty much testing it every day to see if the problem happens again. (Conveniently - they are also trying to sell me the new Blazer.)
I'm just looking for guidance.
Thanks everyone!
Last week I got the error that a lot of people on here seem to be getting the propulsion power is reduced along with the service vehicle light oh and the 30% cap on charging. Took my car yesterday to the dealership and got it back today. They were pretty quick looks like all I needed was a software update thankfully but was told if the error code returns I might have to get a battery pack replacement. The only complaint I have is that I had to go in person to find out my car was ready called them throughout the day and wasn't able to get a hold of anyone. The lack of communication definitely had me stressing that it was something bigger. Everything was covered through warranty. The diagnostics and the multipoint inspection free I guess but I'm not really sure if they actually did that part.
Why does getting warranty repair on a Chevy Bolt seem so difficult in SoCal? Since I've purchased my car in July 2024, I've had to take it to the Chevy dealer THRICE for major battery repair. Every single time, the dealer promises to get back to you within some reasonable time frame, and then that time elapses and they do not reach out to you at all. If you try to reach out to them to get an update, you will get the run around. Everyone is off, sick, or on vacation and nobody has any update for you. They will not offer a rental or loaner unless you ask, and even then you may be without a car for several weeks before they can finally put you in a rental/loaner.
The Chevy EV concierge is a bit better, but frankly without having any personnel on the ground all they can do is apply pressure to the dealer to provide updates or fix the car in a timely manner. I am grateful to them because they do seem to help, but it's kind of ridiculous that one has to escalate to them to get any type of customer service. And I'm sure this further distances the dealer from the customer because the dealer may feel like the customer "snitched" on them to corporate.
I am a new customer to GM, having owned nothing but Japanese cars my entire life. The only reason I purchased the Bolt was because it was backed by a warranty. Had I known how difficult it would be to actually USE the warranty and how POORLY customers who are in need of warranty service are treated, I would have steered the hell away from GM, Chevy and the Bolt.
Anyone know what cause this ? It was working great since I bought the car.
Thanks
Hello all -
I was sorta the “test dummy” for EVs in my household and I got a Bolt. My parents are impressed and are now considering getting an Equinox EV. I know that Chevy was poking me about a bonus… I bought my Bolt while living at their address last year - and I still go back frequently, but live elsewhere now. I think my loan may be under their address still.
I’m not getting an Equinox EV - am happy with my Bolt for now… but is there a way I can get them that discount? Not sure how strict it is? It would help them a lot in affording one…
Thanks!
So my charger is faulty but this won’t work for me as I have found out. I’m out of warranty due to milage on my 2022 EUV but for all those out there to replace the faulty charger. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2024/MC-11007938-0001.pdf
Our 2014 Volt is the dog car, and the beast was only permitted in the ‘22 Bolt EUV recently, for a road trip 🤣
Please don’t tell me what that slot is really for, I like thinking of the Bolt designers as dog lovers.
Sorry, the post is a bit long. But i wanted to share more conext.
I have a bolt and i loved it so much that i ended buying an equinox about 4 months back. Then with the worst luck, my equinox ev was rear ended the very same day i got it out of the lot. Since then its been sitting at a gm collision shop waiting to be repaired. Most of the parts were in back order. I had contact ev concierge to expedite the parts and everything. I was assigned an advisor. For two months i wasnt given any sort of update and there was no communication at all. I had a talk with a conceirge supervisor in after 4 weeks of the initial case filing, who said the advisor was working on the case and i was promised to be reimbursed for those monthy payments for which the advisor sent me emails regarding the policy and what to do and submit to get the reimbursements. But like i said, the advisor was no where to be found no matter how many times i called. 2 months passed, then the case gets assigned to the gm executive resolution team. I get assigned someone. Hes been communicating pretty good regarding the parts. When i asked him about the monthly payments reimbursement, he tells me he can partial payments like 50% of the monthly payments, saying like this is their policy. I ask about rental and he then says they will consider and review the reimbursement once the repair is done. Last week the shop finally gets the last part which was the rail. Then to everyone surprise it ended up being the wrong part. The shop ordered the driver side rail and Gm sent the passenger side with the label of driver side. They ordered the part again with overnight shipping, they again sent the same wrong part. Now the dealership who the shop was ordering thru requested a inspection of the factory inventory to see if they can find the ordered driver side rail. Its been 5 days and i still havent received any update. This is the last part the shop needs
I need advice on how to proceed with. Dealing with GM has been a frustrating and horrible experience. First team of concierge messed up and didn’t do anything the first two months. The executive team isnt help at all. They know they messed up and instead of making things right out of courtesy, they try comfort me about giving 50% of monthly payment which is like nothing.
Car has been at the shop since July 10. What can i do? and if anyone has any advice or someone who went through similar experience, i would appreciate any advice.
