Blocked withdrawals that have been unresolved for weeks

Hello all,

On April 11th I've made a ticket request to request Bit-stamp to allow me to withdraw my own cryptocurrency, however despite having made multiple calls a week to their side, they have not taken any action beyond telling me comforting customer service lines with no substance to it. Therefore, I'd like to know if there are any liquidity issues that the exchange is facing as this blocked withdrawal is strange as I am not the only one who seems to have experienced it. I've used Bit-Stamp for years with no issues, but with this newly developed situation should I be prepared for the worst?

Does anyone in BITSTAMP have missing Bitcoin crypto deposits because I sent 0.03 BTC to my Bitstamp BTC receiving address that I have used since 2017 however, deposits not credited to my account balance?

This is not to talk bad about Bitstamp. I’ve been a member since 2017.

On August 17, 2022, Bitstamp told me to use a different receiving address (they call it a BTC v1 addresses for your BTC deposits to Bitstamp) and mentioned that it may take significantly longer to credit as opposed to generating a new BTC addresses.

However, on August 21, 2022, I made BTC deposits in the amount of 0.015 BTC and another 0.015 BTC to my Bitstamp receiving address and have valid transaction hashes to prove deposits were confirmed by blockchain network.

I contacted support TICKET #BIT-1880949 but it’s been over a month and support said (“Rest assured that we are doing our best to help all our Users. However, in case of an incorrectly deposited cryptocurrency, the recovery procedure needs special attention and takes time as it involves several stages.”)

The reason why we have Blockchain network is to verify proof of work or confirmation that bitcoin transactions were made.

The price of bitcoin is going down and time is of the essence for me to sell not to wait for something that I have deposited a long time ago.

Has anyone managed to withdraw from their Bitstamp account to a US bank that requires an intermediary?

I've had USD sitting in my Bitstamp account for ages and I'm finally making a concerted effort to get it out, but I'm getting nowhere with support. It's not a matter of being blocked or anything and I've done all of the account validation stuff long ago. The problem is that it gives me an "Invalid bank identifier" message when I try to withdraw.

I think this might be because my bank (like a lot of US banks) doesn't have its own SWIFT code and goes through an intermediary bank but there's no place to enter the full routing information.

I've asked support about this, but they repeatedly just tell me to clear my browser cache and cookies and try again. I'm not sure if they're being deliberately obstructive or if they really don't understand the question, but it's getting frustrating. I'm tempted to put it all back into BTC and use the local ATM to withdraw it but I trust the BTC ATM operator even less.

Best alternative to Bitstamp?

What's the best crypto exchange (crypto <-> fiat) these days in the UK? I used Bitstamp many years ago and it was really good, but they're horribly slow now and I don't trust them with my BTC/Ether/anything really.

My goal is simple: I just want to sell some Ether for fiat (EUR or GBP). The Ether has been sitting in my paper wallet for a long time. Which platform would you recommend to a UK resident?

Urgent Appeal for Resolution: Over Years of Unfulfilled Promises and Lost Funds!!

I have been waiting for my money since October 2021! I made a transaction (ca.$12,500) on the BEP20 BSC (Binance Smart Chain) instead of ERC20 (Ethereum), leading to the transaction getting lost. For over years, I've been misled with assurances that the issue was being resolved. Throughout this period, more than a year and 20-30 emails have been exchanged, with continuous promises of a solution. At the beginning of 2023, I received promises from Dome and the Europe CEO, Mr. Jean-Baptiste Graftieaux, that the issue would be resolved by the second quarter of 2023. What has happened since then? Absolutely nothing. Just empty promises. There has been no response, no commitment to refund the countless customers who have lost their money. Strangely, Bitstamp prides itself on being one of the oldest cryptocurrency exchanges, yet it fails to resolve an issue affecting potentially thousands of investors, unlike other crypto companies... to this day.

Promise after promise. Please do not believe anything this company says! If you still plan to invest your money here, I would strongly advise conducting further research to find companies that are truly reliable towards their customers

Bitstamp holding my crypto hostage

I've opened my bistamp account in late 2017 and made my first deposits there. I've send them proof of stock sale in 2018. All was well for years.

In 2023 they ask me for proof of fund all of a sudden after some deposits. I sent what I have, bank transactions, Binance withdrawals. They ask for proof of funds again. I refer them to 2018 stock sale I've sent them. I no longer have that document, its been 5 years, but apparently they find it and say OK (I have in old messages transcript it was updated to their portal in 20218), we need some more proof of your employment payments. At this point I'm like allright, I'll sent it when I can and forgot about it. I can't withdraw from account at this point, but I can trade if I want. I only hold ETH there, not selling before 8-12k so back then I though no rush.

Recently they sent me a message to finish the process and what I need to send still, payment from job and something from tax service. I've sent them 8 months of bank statements from 2023 (you can only upload 8 files) which I had to get for tax purposes, where payments from my employer are visible and tell them I'll probably get my tax form for 2023 in May.

Log back in the day after when I've seen they've sent a message, the whole process has been reset - they are asking for proof of funds again !?, and I can no longer trade.

Extremely annoying. Makes you wonder if they have insolvency issues.

Warning - Bitstamp blocked 10.000 Euro withdrawal and all Crypto withdrawals !

Hello,

I used Bitstamp since years with transactions in the range of 10-50K USD and suddenly they blocked my account, to withdraw Euro or any form of Crypto has been disabled for a week with no response from support of the reason or how to solve the issue. The phone hotline just talks to to "wait".

Bitstamp is the next BTC-e, they take your funds close the shop soon.

Everyone who is also affected from this, join me and file a fraud complaint to the New York State Attorney General to start an investigation:

Endless Wait for Refund from Bitstamp: A Tale of Delays and KYC Nightmares

On April 3rd, Bitstamp finally agreed to refund my $28,732 to the cryptocurrency of my choice. However, the deposit has still not been processed. How much longer will I have to wait for the transaction to be completed? This amount was sent to Bitstamp on February 26th, and it has been incredibly difficult to get it back. The KYC process took three months, and now the refund process is terribly slow.

I am concerned - Withdrawals blocked with tickets un-answered for weeks

Good afternoon,

I am turning to this platform as I've nowhere else to turn.

A few months ago I've decided to invest into Cryptocurrency in order to store it on a safe Ledge wallet and place it in a secure safe deposit box. Based on many good reviews from my colleagues I've decided on Bitstamp (Big mistake, I now see)

The process of creating an account and depositing the funds went through very smoothly and I was excited to invest into XRP and XLM. However, after attempting to withdraw it I noticed, that the option is blocked.

The website directed me to a telephone number, and I was required to schedule a review meeting a few days later on a weekend afternoon where I was asked many extremely personal questions, all of which I answered. The person on the meeting assured me, that the verification was a success and that the option to unblock withdrawals would be immediate.

It has now been two weeks since the meeting and more than three weeks since I've invested, and my funds are still locked. It is starting to look as if Bitstamp is a scam and my money has been stolen. I've opened two support tickets for this matter, neither of which have been answered, solved or even responded to: BIT-1884533 and BIT-1882188

Moreover, when I call the number for support, always the same person answers which, based solely on hearing my name (Which I find extremely strange and worrying), assures me, that the tickets are being prioritized at Bitstamp and that they have already been forwarded to the responsible department. When I plead to be connected to somebody in the responsible department I am given the cold shoulder.

Can somebody help or advise on what I can do in this matter?

Thank you in advance,

Kind regards.

BIT-1879174 Re: Updated: VideoCall

BIT-1879174 Re: Updated: VideoCall

I registered on this platform a few days ago, sent all the documents, and was good. I decided to try the platform and deposit some funds into the platform to see if everything worked fine, I was able to deposit but it didn't allow me to withdraw coins, I wasn't bothered about that initially, but then they asked me to call a number to get the suspension lifted, I called several times until I was able to speak to someone who then told me I needed a video verification with my ID, I was sent an email with the ling, set up the video call and the guy called me on Friday 15th March. he proceeded to ask me some questions that I felt uncomfortable with, asking me for my 2FA and I needed to log in, I simply told him no, that I had my app on my phone, and if I needed any help, I could ask my son. I showed my id and he said they would send to security and within 2 days it would be resolved. On Saturday, I made some profit from BTC and wanted to close my trade, I saw that it stated that Trading is currently disabled. I called and no one answered and I left a message and also sent an email. I haven't heard anything from them. knowing the volatility of the market, I might lose the little profit I made. They won't respond to emails or phone calls. This is the worst exchange in the world. I am so angry seeing the market go up and down

Worst Company - Fails in every respect

Absolute the worst company - No answers - just our complaints department is expediting the matter. The only thing they did efficiently was to take my deposit on January 26th. From that day forward it has been a total sham - my account was locked on Feb 15th when I attempted to transfer the product purchased on Bitstamp platform. No answers no explanations - now after 35 days Bitstamp has terminated my account ( I'm guessing due to my daily complaints ) - 2-5 business days to receive my funds - day 5 and no funds No answers - They have basically stolen from me - Horrible - horrible company - they violate their own terms and there are no repercussions - Run a way from them as fast as you can!

It Seems Bitstamp Has No Intention of Returning My $28,732.67.

I've contacted Bitstamp multiple times, but there has been no significant response from their side. Interestingly, I received a chat request through Reddit asking me to explain the issue from the beginning, as if they hadn’t seen the post I made on Reddit. It's quite amusing that they initiated a chat without even checking my Reddit post.

Over the past few days, I've inquired with the banks I use about receiving these funds, but they've stated I need to prove that the money is indeed mine. To do this, I require the transaction history from Bitstamp; however, the issue is that my account has expired, making it impossible for me to access any records. If Bitstamp has expired my account and erased all transaction history, what am I supposed to do?

All I want is for Bitstamp to temporarily restore my account so that I can withdraw my money in cryptocurrency. It's absurd that they would close my account at their discretion while there's still a balance remaining.

Bitstamp ignoring customers

I'm beginning to think that the CFPB and other state agencies need to open an investigation into Bitstamp. How can so many users be experiencing the same problem with Bitstamp's 2FA, lack of responsiveness and lack of access to our funds/assets at the same time? What is going on?

Bitstamp Is Trying to Swallow My $28,732.67

I've been a Bitstamp user since 2017. On February 26. 2024, just like before, I transferred $28,732.67 through my bank to Bitstamp. However, Bitstamp decided to hold this amount in limbo, citing KYC procedures as the reason and not crediting it to my account. I immediately requested a return of the funds, but was met with a response to wait until the KYC was completed. By March 8, following the KYC outcome, my account was suspended, and Bitstamp said they would return the $28,732.67 to the bank account I had sent it from. The twist? My bank refused to process this deposit because it came from a cryptocurrency exchange, deeming it potentially related to money laundering, and sent it back.

Bitstamp then suggested that if I provided another account, they could try sending the money there. Yet, every bank I've contacted refuses to process the deposit, fearing money laundering implications. If Bitstamp had immediately returned the funds when received, my bank would have recognized the transaction as a return and credited it to my account (I've seen this happen before, as I've been trading since 2017). But Bitstamp's delay under the guise of the KYC process has made it impossible for my bank to recognize the returned funds as mine.

The best solution seems to be allowing me temporary access to my Bitstamp account to convert the amount into cryptocurrency and withdraw it. However, Bitstamp states they cannot do this, insisting on bank transfers only. Meanwhile, the banks refuse to process such transactions. Am I doomed to never recover this money? Bitstamp's inflexibility and the banking system's stringent policies have left me in a financial limbo. Is there any way out of this Catch-22?

Support not replying on an urgent ticket

I contacted the support a week ago regarding a transaction I want to apply and it's quite urgent. In the hour I sent all the KYC info and never heard of the support again.

I've been a client of Bitstamp since 2017, went through absolutely all the verifications a long time ago, have 2FA activated since then, and never really needed to "withdraw" up to now and I realize I may have made a mistake trusting your service for so long mindlessly.

The ticket is BIT-1868016 if someone could take a look? If I end up like all these "horror stories" of people waiting for months for answers, I'll just withdraw everything when you finally unblock it and never look back; having lost opportunities and money because of you.

Please be more reactive.

UPDATE: they replied and fixed the issue, so you must be patient but they eventually process it.

BTC withdrawal transaction sent with low fee 22.977 sat/vByte

Today I decided to withdraw some of my BTC from Bitstamp, unfortunately I didn't check the mempool if it is congested. I know that as a customer I should not be thinking about that but it turns out that maybe I should.

The transaction fee was set to 23 sat/VB, currently mempool.space shows 28-31.

I'm getting inpatient and kind of frustrated as I cannot choose my withdrawal fee, it's decided by Bitstamp and it's kind of low. I don't know why they could not set it higher...

Also there is no RBF in this transaction as it is in older format.

Maybe I should wait but what if the fees never get to this low range again?

Should I contact the support or wait?

I was always very satisfied with Bitstamp and I don't want to lose the trust I have.

Withdrawal tx:

https://www.blockchain.com/explorer/transactions/btc/cfff1f9bf688958dadf6db8d8ba14648f0bd77fcecf2254e624d1fd4f7a2d4c5

I guess I kind of want to vent a little before contacting support in a more calm and diplomatic way.

Anyone else had such problems with BTC withdrawals from Bitstamp?

Withdrawal failed - ABA routing number requested

After years of using Bitstamp today my cash withdrawal was denied by the platform with the most bizarre reason:

Please re-submit your withdrawal request and provide us with your bank’s US intermediary bank ABA routing number which processes fedwire payments in Intermediary Bank Routing Number field.

I'm in UK, we don't have fedwire payments, ABA, or intermediaries. We use IBAN and SWIFT. Noone at the branch of my bank knows what this message is about and suggestion is that it must be some sort of ef-up on sender's end (Bitstamp's bank no longer processing withdrawals).

So - I'm not sure what I'm looking at - has anyone in Europe had this issue and know how to resolve it or do we have another platform that doesn't process withdrawals in the middle of BTC surge?

Lost account, waiting for more than 2 months to have them answer my ticket.

Hi there, I lost access to the email for my Bitstamp account and also the credentials, they were on an SSD that got compromised, and I can't recover that data. I opened a ticket with the support team in January.. do they ever respond ? I was hoping for a KYC procedure to prove I'm the owner of the account. I'm not sure how to proceed here.

Thanks

Bitstatdoes not return lent BTC

I unsubscribed from BTC and BCH lends 5 days ago. Ingot my BCH back in my wallet within 24 hours, but haven't got back my BTC. Opened a support ticket with Bitstamp days ago but haven't heard nothing back from them. How long does it takes to receive the BTC back? Or are they just lending it without me getting any rewards now?

Eth Staking at Bitstamp

Hello,

I have looked deeply in order to stake my ETH with Bitstamp but I haven't found the correct page to do so. I am in an eligible jurisdiction for staking. However when I click the staking button on my account, I am redirected to the lending service which is totally different from staking. How can I fix this. Does Bitstamp still allow staking?

Stuck in KYC Limbo with BITSTAMP: Seeking Similar Experiences

On January 26th, I received my first KYC (Know Your Customer) request and have been diligently submitting all the required documents since then. Despite my efforts, my documents are still under review. Amid this process, I transferred $28,740 to BITSTAMP, which they acknowledged receiving. However, they informed me that they couldn't credit it to my account until the KYC process is completed. My question is, when exactly will this KYC process end? I'd much prefer if they could just return the funds to the bank account I sent it from instead of continually asking me to wait until the KYC is finalized. Is anyone else experiencing something similar?

Will Bitstamp distribute the Starknet airdrop to early non-US eth stakers?

The starknet airdrop specified that it allocated a $STRK airdrop not just to solo pre-merge eth stakers but also to exchanges if they relay the airdrop to the actual eth stakers. Kraken availed of this and promptly distributed 17 or so $STRK per eth staked, worth more than $30 now. Is Bitstamp also about to do so? Any info?
