I've lost my 2FA authenticator but it's impossible to reset it. Bitstamp always tells me I'll get an email to begin the process, but no email ever arrives. I've written to the support three times now in the past week - no answer.
I can't log in, the system to reset my 2FA doesn't work and the support doesn't reply. What can I do?
Hi
Does anyone know if it's possible to convert crypto to funds and then direct into your bank account? I am an Australian account holder.
Can't seem to find that option via bitstamp app or options?
I know it's difficult to answer but what is the risk of staking on Bitstamp, say, compared to competitors? If you read through the Bitstamp staking FAQ it warns you about all kinds of things, including this scary sentence: "Staking may result in losses amounting from 1 to 32 staked ETH". Do they need to state that for some legal reasons or is it actually a realistic possibility? Like if I stake 10 ETH today then tomorrow BAM it's all gone! Makes me worried. On the other hand, they also mention how they use "well-known and established node validators" which calms me down a bit.
If you look at Coinbase FAQ on staking (https://help.coinbase.com/en/coinbase/coinbase-staking/staking/staking-risks) it looks much more reassuring. They mention that there are risks but that it's overall very safe and importantly, "to date, no customer has lost any staked crypto". Is Coinbase better at this or is it mostly a matter of wording?
I've also looked into Kraken but they don't spell out the staking risks so clearly. I did find this though: "Kraken subsidiary Staked is the validator for ETH restaked using Kraken. Staked is a leading EigenLayer operator whose services are usually only available to their institutional clients". Sound pretty reassuring.
I see Bitstamp has been getting a lot of heat for slow customer support and some transactions being stalled (I have a ticket open myself) but putting all that aside, are there any real differences between these platforms when it comes to the security of the fundamental services they provide?
Couple days ago i was googling about Bitstamp blocking people out of their accounts and found multiple posts on Reddit about the topic even from years ago. This is the whole purpose i even created this account.
It started with me not being able to log into my account all of a sudden. I followed the procedure to reset my password with all of the steps that Bitstamp support guides your through. Turns out they denied my access / 2FA reset at the end cause supposedly someone from Singapore and Malaysia was trying to log into my account and i had to explain that???? Which I have zero clue about as i stated in my messages to support. First of all I provided completely everything they wanted in that ticket and still nothing came out of it (selfie video, ID pic, saying numbers into phone screen etc..). How is it my problem if someone is trying to hack into BITSTAMPS'S SYSTEM?? If I provided everything you need from me including a selfie, ID, video of me speaking into camera etc. to prove it is my account, what more proof do they need?? This would be the same as if I physically walked into the bank and provided everything including ID with picture of my face while im standing right there infront of them and getting denied acces to my own account.
I started having problems even before getting locked out of my account with authorizing my account with proof of residency, utility bill, ID etc. which again I provided all that is needed and they couldnt get themselves to handle or process my request. After that I also couldnt update my new ID since my previous one was expiring at that time which they knew since they were sending me ''update your ID, the one you have now is about to expire'' type of emails. So basically nothing of nothing from the support there.
Hello all,
I live in Luxembourg and thought it makes sense to use Bitstamp. However, I believe I made a mistake. I transfered my XML from Coinbase to Bitstamp and followed their instruction what to mention in the deposit memo, but after 10 days they are still not able to process the transaction and deposit my funds.
Customer service completely lost. I have sent emails, called them 5 times, sent numerous text via support ticket but they are still not able to even figure out what is happening, they are just saying relevant team has been informed.
What is you experience with Bitstamp?
Thank you for your any support in advance!
I am looking for options to use for converting crypto payments received by my company into cash. Ideally exchanges that can be used in the Netherlands.
I have been trying to open a corporate account with Bitstamp for 2 weeks now, because I have been using them every now and then to sell crypto using my personal crypto. I thought it would be ok for corporate, but so far, it is not promising.
I sent all the papers they requested, luckily I am a one man company, so getting everything was rather easy. Support would reply within 2-3 hours asking for more and more info. Good.
Once I supposedly got verified, I was surprised to see that there was no bank account on the withdrawal section. Even thought they asked me to which account I would withdraw. Ok, Ill add it myself. And nope, I can't. "Error adding bank account, contact support."
I opened a new ticket, and It's been a week trying to get support to answer. Sent an email, pinged them again. No answer.
I decided then to reach out using the original ticket they used to do my onboarding. And lo and behold! they replied within 2 hours!
It is obvious they will only reply if it is a high priority ticket. A potential new client that will bring in crypto. I am not a high priority client if I am trying to withdraw.
This is a massive red flag to me. I am scared of transferring money to this new corporate account. They might not let me withdraw. Will there also be silence and random weird bureaucracy involved when I try to withdraw my cash?
Better steer off from this company now that I haven't lost any money.
Anyone unstaked ETh recently? What's the current unstaking time? Thank you.
Around two years ago I started the KYC process, but it stressed me out so much that I couldn't bear to continue answering every question that was met with 10 more questions. Recently I wanted to continue again, but I'm not getting any response in my KYC ticket anymore. How can I get someone to actually look and respond to the ticket so we can continue the process?
EDIT: they just replied to my ticket, coincidence or not, consider this solved.
Auf die Gefahr, dass ich mich blamiere: wie kann ich mir in Bitstamp den Gewinn/Verlust seit Kauf anzeigen lassen?🙈
Dear Bitstamp Support,
Can you please help me with the below issue? BIT-2027186
24 hours ago I transferred Polygon MATIC from one of my Matic wallet to another Bitstamp matic wallet, both same network.
On PolygonScan, everything looks fine, the transaction was successful and confirmed - the amount is there in your wallet, but it is not displaying the amount on My Bitstamp wallet/account.
PLEASE HELP! At that moment I had multiple transfers to my Bitstamp wallets - ETH, ADA, SOL, EGLD - with no issue, only with MATIC.
For your reference please check the transaction on polygonscan link:

Hello, I am really wondering I am using Bitstamp since 2018. 1 week ago I’ve withdrawn some XRP to usdc Today I tried to perform same but the option is disabled and alllow only withdraw to fiat. I have opened a ticket. The support is not very reactive!
Hi! I noticed on my Bitstamp account that buying/selling was disabled for New York Users! I didn’t receive any notice before. Does anyone have this problem ?? How can I withdraw the funds ???
Hello,
I have a question about conversion.
Example :
Day 1, I convert 1000 XRP to USDC
for example in day 30 I want to use my USDC to buy more XRPs.
What is the best approach to do that ?
Thanks
I recalled xrp on 17th Nov, until now still in pending status. Called the customer service just no timeframe to return back. This is not decent and monitored platform. Does anyone know how to complain or we can sue them together
As it says on the title my account had trading and withdrawal disabled without explanation and I have urgent transaction I absolutely have to do because I'm closing on a house.. I've tried opening tickets, no respons. I've tried calling and got "our team will look at it" then nothing.
Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do? Because I'm about to have a panic attack.
I have recalled my assets (130k XRP) on 16 November 2024. But the status of these assets has been pending. How long will it take to complete this?
I sent 2 tickets to customer support. They haven't replied. These are ticket numbers. ( TICKET #BIT-2020722 , TICKET #BIT-2020250 ) .
Also, I sent an email to Bitstamp, but there is no answer.
I have researched and found this topic. :
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitstamp/comments/1gte5ga/wont_release_my_earn_lending_tokens/
There is another user in the same condition. He has been waiting for 6 days.
Are user assets safe or not?
Is there a problem in Bitstamp? or will be new FTX at Bitstamp?
I recalled my assets from the program on the 12th of November and I still haven't received them in my Bitstamp account. Highly concerning. Anyone else experienced the same ?
I want to share my frustrating experience with Bitstamp to warn others. My account has been locked for over a month, despite receiving an email stating it passed all reviews and would be unlocked on October 21. Since then, I’ve had no access to my funds, and support has completely stopped responding.
This lack of communication and failure to resolve such a critical issue is unacceptable. If you’re considering using Bitstamp, be aware that you might face similar issues, with little to no support to help you.
If anyone has advice on how to escalate this or get a resolution, I’d appreciate your input.
Stay cautious and always from this platform... I have been loyal to them for 8 years and they do this
In BTC. Sort of steep, dontcha think?
I have had an account at Bitstamp for four years.
I trusted my funds to Bitstamp, but now I can not access my account anymore. Why?
I haven't changed anything from the last login. Suddenly, FA2 authentication is not letting me through.
Consequently, I selected recover FA2, I went through ID verification and got approved. The support team sent me an email with a statement that FA2 is now disabled. BUT THAT IS NOT TRUE. At login, the FA2 is still blocking me from accessing my account. I can change my password and get confirmations by mail, but I need support to disable my FA2.
Further, I tried every possible way to get help: contact support by mail, requested to reset FA2 again. Also, tried to contact Bitstamp through Reddit and X, but nothing is happening anymore. JUST SILENCE FROM BITSTAMP. IGNORANCE.
Institutions like Bitstamp shouldn't ignore customers and block them from accessing their money. It is not a small amount for me, also. In the meantime, the market is changing rapidly and preventing me from accessing my account can be financially harmful to me.
This is a scary situation beyond any legitimacy. Something weird is happening at Bitstamp. People should be warned widely about such situations.
Warning do not transfer money to them they freeze accounts for no reason I have been chasing them for 6 months
My mother has been trying to get Bitstamp to help her for months now! Nothing is beeing done, no information given, nobody is looking at her case. She asked for status update, meeti ng with them, asked what information they needed from her. No answer besides the same message all the time - "they are looking at her case". But they are not! For some reason there have been put trading restrictions and she cannot do anytihing with her account, neither trade or withraw. Be aware of Bitstamp if you do not want to lose all your savings and investments!
Dear bitstamp community,
Since a couple of weeks my account got locked, meaning no trading, deposits, withdrawals etc.. Because I needed to update my personal information and provide proof of wealth documentation etc.
Its been over 2 weeks without any news, do I need to worry about this?? This account holds most of my savings.
Friendly regards
What is happening to BITSTAMP? You are probably in difficulties and you do it to everyone. You withhold funds and freeze the account. I will file a lawsuit in court if you do not release the account within 3 days
https://www.bitstamp.net/learn/security/what-is-the-travel-rule/
From the article:
The Travel Rule is a term used to refer to a recommendation from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) designed to combat money laundering and terrorism financing. In the context of crypto assets...
The article itself is, in my opinion, a pretty interesting read and highlights the primary reason I'm moving away from CEXs as much as possible. They're already putting policies into place that aren't required by any sort of law, at least that's what I'm gathering from the article. I'm in the US and there is NOT A FEDERAL LAW that requires the gathering of the receivers information.
While there isn't a specific federal law yet that explicitly requires crypto exchanges to gather information about the recipient in every transaction, the regulatory landscape is complex and evolving. Here's a breakdown of the key factors:
1. The Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
2. Proposed Regulations
3. Current Practices
4. Future Outlook
In summary: While not yet a universal requirement, the trend is clearly towards greater transparency and information collection on both senders and recipients in crypto transactions. Exchanges are increasingly implementing measures to comply with existing and anticipated regulations.
Last year I used my HK USD account to deposit USD to my Bitstamp account.
now I get the error message: "no eligible bank account available"
Anyone has the same problem?
Thanks
Last friday (at 17:03 to be exact) I sold some BTC. Execution price was 55.650 EUR/BTC. But when checking to historic chart, price was supposed to be 56.914 EUR/BTC. That's quite the difference.
Any explanation?
