Hello :),
I currently live in Germany and have a very good job offer in Bergen. If I were to move, my partner would come with me. She has a degree in social work and we are wondering what the job opportunities are like for social workers in Bergen. She speaks German, English and Russian (and will of course learn Norwegian).
Thanks for any useful information!
Hi, I want to get some more specific books in English but seems like a bit hard to find when it is a new book. Is there any underground place where to find it?
My flight from Bergen Lufthavn is going around 6 am and there is no tram at this time. We live at Fantoft, is there any other option to go to the airport than taking a Taxi?
Hi fine folks of r/Bergen!
I'm planning to visit Bergen for 4 days next month (November) and would like to do a day trip one of the days. I don't want to stay overnight outside of Bergen, so I know that limits my options this time of year.
My main goal is to see beautiful scenery and a secondary one is to experience the train (which I prefer over boat). I was researching a few options and am wondering which one (if any) would be worth it this time of year?
I'm looking for advice since I don't know which parts of the train ride are the most scenic? I'd plan to leave early in the morning to maximize daylight.
TIA!
Hello. I am coming for an exchange in spring to Bergen and I was wondering how does that work with parking there. Is there any parking places available in Sammen student apartments? Any experiences?
Takk for forslagene! :)
Hi there

planning to take the mrs out for a few drinks at a nice bar and food after.
any suggestions on either?
Hi everyone,
I live in Bergen and have been actively searching for a job in Machine learning/data science but I’ve been encountering difficulties due to my lack of practical experience. Although my Master’s degree in Machine Learning and Bachelor's in Mathematics have given me a solid foundation, but many job listings require hands-on experience that I haven’t had the chance to gain yet. I completed my master's from UIB in 2023 and had a baby, I was with him at home until the middle of 2024.
In my free time, I am doing more courses to enhance my skills in data science/data analytics and also have registered as a jobseeker on NAV, they are also not in a position to support me because I am overqualified for the job and I just should try. :) But my situation does not change, how many courses I do or whatever skills I learn online, still have no practical experience which leads to rejections. I also have been applying to graduate programs but they prefer to take graduate of recent year I think. I am very hard-working and so passionate about my field, I am sure after a little training I can be a valuable contributor to any company. It's literally not just about money, I really love to do work and learn in AI/data. I am even ready to start my career and get training without a salary. I just want to remove this no-experience thing from my resume.
I know Network is important but I unfortunately have not a circle or know anyone in Beregn who can help or guide me. Additionally, I only have basic Norwegian skills, which I know can be a barrier for some roles. I’m highly motivated to start my career and develop my skills, but I’m unsure how to bridge the gap between my education and the practical experience employers are looking for.
Does anyone know of any training programs, internships, or career development opportunities in Bergen that could help someone in my situation? I’m eager to learn and get my foot in the door, so any guidance or advice would be incredibly helpful!
Thanks in advance for your help!
How easy is it to move to Bergen from the uk? Especially if you don’t speak Norwegian? Is there jobs available or are they quite difficult to find?
note: I’d love to learn more about daily life in every country- especially Norway as I am currently visiting here, as I’m really fascinated by the diverse ways people live around the world. I’m planning to start a podcast where I interview people from all different paths of life. I really enjoy hearing about personal stories and experiences, and my goal is to amplify voices while sharing cultural and educational insights.
In May I will rent an electric car at Bergen airport. We will spend 2 weeks with the family between Bergen and Stavanger.
I have seen that there are numbers of charging points.
My question is as follows:
To pay for the recharges can I simply make the payment with my credit card or do I absolutely have to download 2-3 apps, register, enter the data, enter the credit card information ?
Hi! I’m an undergraduate student from Ontario, Canada and wondering about exchange in Bergen!

I'm moving to Bergen in January and have been getting into ski touring/backcountry skiing in the last couple of years (currently living in Vancouver).
Is there much of a ski touring community in Bergen? Where can I find people for trips?
Hi ! I am a French student coming to Bergen next week and I was wondering if I could buy a student bus ticket even if I do not study in Norway ? On the website it seems that they wouldn’t accept it, but maybe ?? I also have my ESN card from Trondheim which is still valid, but of course my studentbevis is not valid anymore.. what do you think ?
