This seems like it should be easy to find, but I have been unable to find it at the usual sites (Baseball Reference, ESPN, Fan Graphs, etc.). I’m able to find what positions a particular player played in a game in the postseason, but I can’t figure out how to find how many innings the player played at each of those positions. Anybody know where/how I can find this information?
In the Dodgers game today, they used 8 pitchers, none pitching more than 1.2 innings. They gave thr W to Evan Philips, who pitched innings 4.2 to 6. Why?
Does anyone use National Statistical? I signed up for a paid account after the folks at Sports Reference recommended them but their data always seems wrong vs any other source. The regular season has been over for three days now and their site still shows the Red Sox at 80-80, for example, when they finished at 81-81.
I can never get ahold of anyone there to respond to a support inquiry. Just wondering if NatStat is just a scam.
Caption I suppose is mildly misleading as I understand the stats at a high level, my question is shohei this season has the highest WAR ever for a DH. Aaron Judge’s offensive WAR is still higher. Therefore I guess I’m wondering if
For example, if I wanted to know how many players in mlb history have hit 20 homeruns in a season, or had 20 stolen bases, how would I go about researching this?
Is it possible to look up fan interference by home ball park season totals? I have tried but been unsuccessful.
Hey guys.
I'm a brand new baseball fan (about 6 months) and omg I can't get enough of looking at bullpen stats. I'm only using the score right now but I'm looking for other good websites that give me more information on pitchers. If you guys have any reccomendations I would love to hear them.
Also any websites that deep dive into hitters would be great as well.
I have always been taught to never swing on the first pitch. I am curious if my logic makes any sense. Is there a way to find stats related to outcomes on swinging on the first pitch?
Hello, I am looking for a way to get a team batting profile versus the opposing pitcher's ERA. I want to get the Padres OPS+ versus pitchers with an ERA under 3.5 versus over 3.5. I have a hunch that they do better against better pitching.
Does anyone here know the number of the most consecutive pitches thrown using the same baseball in an MLB game?
Hello,
I use critically acclaimed software for my fantasy football drafts that helps me identify the best value at each pick. The software generates projections for each player, including their floor, average, and ceiling, based on various factors. While this usually works well for most leagues and their scoring settings, one league I'm in has two specific factors that lead to slightly different scoring. As a result, I need to revise the player rankings by factoring in the likelihood of these two types of factors occurring for particular players prior to the NFL season.
From my basic understanding of the issue, I’m not looking to change the software itself, just to revise the rankings. I’m looking for someone with a strong mathematical background, ideally with experience in sports betting and player projections, to help me make these adjustments. For further details, please DM, as it would be inappropriate to provide specifics about the software here.
Hi there, been having trouble finding this on my own. I went to the Mets/A's yesterday (longest 9 inning game in the pitch clock era.)
What I want to know is what are the most and the least COMBINED pitch counts for a 9 inning game? Through 5 innings Mets/A's pitchers threw 256 pitches yesterday. Through 9 it was 425! Would love to know how this compares.
I've been looking around (and ChatGPT seems to be of little help) and I'm wondering about the best player on the worst team. Has there ever been a player where their batting average was greater than the team winning percentage? I know we are close this year with Chicago. They have a .241 win percentage. Tommy Pham and Eloy Jiménez were close but Chicago traded them away.
I've been trying to find his stats but all I can find is that he played for them while they won the series de caribe in '86. I was just trying to find his stat line.
I'm trying to settle an argument with my friend, who is the more impressive player stays wise? I know this sounds like a troll post, yea roids were at play but lets just ignore that.
Hello! Is there a database of game logs that includes plate appearances by inning? If PA = 3, then I know it was either a 1-2-3 inning or something like a double play or CS so that the pitcher only faced three batters. It's not part of Retrosheet and I didn't see it on Baseball Savant. Thanks!
Hello!
Curious if anyone knows of a site to do some sort of MLB "trade analyzer" but for old/historical seasons. There is a game I play (Dynasty League Baseball by Pursue the Pennant). And we are currently doing a "replay" league, in the 1972 season (so, 1972 player stats used, and next year 1973 stats, and so on).
Obviously, I can see what the players "future" statistics will be for the upcoming seasons, but I feel like I am not great at evaluating players/trades. So, looking for something where I can plug players in from back then and maybe provide me a little bit of guidance?
Thanks in advance!

Big timesaver for me when I want to import all the clickable tables into a spreadsheet. Hope it helps someone.
I have recently tried to create a sabermetric, and granted I’m not good at math at all but it’s just a stat I’m wondering. My friend asked if I can find the highest score ever of my statistic but that requires putting the equation into some database of all statistics. I have 0 idea how to do that and I am posting this to see if someone would be able to help me.
Has anybody written about a .250 batter with a .375 OBP being a more effective lead off hitter than a .325 batter with a .375 OBP, with the .325 batter sliding down to the 2nd through 4th position being an additional benefit. To me this is obvious since lead off walks are more efficient than a lead off single. Am I missing something? I understand having speed matters, but assuming both batters have similar or close enough speed to make that issue negligible, is my scenario debatable?
I'm calling for backup and throwing an offer on the table. If someone can solve this savant search puzzle for me I WILL happily give 50% of the large bet payout I'm confident will follow.
The search is first pitches of innings 1-8. So 0 outs, counts 0-0, no runners on, batters in 1 search, pitchers in another. Included stats in the columns I can add later. What I need to do is a search to separate the teams that swing a lot at first pitch BUT miss or foul for a strike, from the teams that swing a lot at the first pitch BUT get hits or in-play outs. Just need the correct basic inputs then I can apply it by the innings I want. Thought it was simple but I can't wrap my head around it. Tried and failed.
Is there an official stat for this? If it’s not clear, I’m thinking the number of times a closer’s team wins when they appear (in a save situation) where their team wins vs when they blow a save. For ex., a closer blows a save every 10 appearances, so their WVBS is 10. I genuinely have no idea what a top number could be. I think Mariano in his prime was in the 30’s, but I don’t know if that’s too high or too low. And it’s driving me crazy that I may never know.
