Hey y’all, my Name’s Doc and I mod r/ukulele. I’m here to invite y’all to participate in some musical fun with us.
Every month, we do two different musical projects:
If those sound appealing to you, please come on down to r/ukulele and drop a submission or two, for either the TOTM or the Challenge, and if you’d like participate in the group recording, check out links to the backing track.
Banjolele players are always welcome in our sub, and we love the twang! Hope to see some recordings :)
So I got this banjolele a few years ago and never really learned how to use it. My fingers stiffen up, it was difficult so I gave up. I don't want to give up so I'm trying it again. I have a question about the bridge, is it supposed to to be loose or should it be glued down?
I'd love to be able to play a reasonable rendition of this iconic tune on my banjolele, but the only uke tabs I can find are for low-G, and I've also found guitar tabs - using the first 4 strings, so basically the same as low-G uke.
I've been practicing my banjo rolls (I can play a decent, if not very fast, rendition of Bile Them Cabbage Down, thanks to this article: https://ukulelemagazine.com/lessons/how-to-play-earl-scruggs-style-banjo-rolls-on-the-ukulele), so I'm familiar with the technique, just need help with this tune.
I'm sure it must be possible to play this tune on my banjolele making use of the re-entrant tuning; banjolele gods, please help!
Hello there everyone. I was wondering if anyone could point me towards a good replacement head for a 20's Gibson UB-1. I got one I'm fixing up and the original head was ripped. I thought a Reno 6" would do the job but it's too big... any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Been playing uke for years now, mostly George Formby, so I thought I'd give a quick strum as my first post!
We're having a neighborhood block party, with a bunch of musical acts - there's a main band who are playing (friends of one of my neighbors), and during their set break a few other folks are going to be playing - we have a tin whistle duo, and I'm going to be breaking out my banjolele.
Not my first time playing music in front of an audience (I've played piano for 35 years, both in recitals and in a few bands), but my first time playing a stringed instrument and singing along with it. I picked up uke 18 months ago and got my banjolele last June.
My set list so far looks something like:
I might drop or add another song depending on how things feel, but I'm very excited to get out and play in front of others!
