Hi guys! I have two shows coming up— Oguz at the Brooklyn Monarch and Sarah Landry at the Brooklyn Mirage.
I’m F20 (but will be 21 by the time) and haven’t been to either of these venues before. Does anyone have any insights into how they are coat check / security wise? Also, if anyone has been solo as well, did you feel that it was easy to make friends? I know this is super dependent on the artist / night.
Thanks for the help!
Hi. Im planning to be in town on March 21-23. Still waiting on Basement (I’ve been once, had a blast) to release their March dates (does it normally take this long?) but curious about other possible events or venues. Any ideas?
For Saturday (3/22) I’m considering Indira Paganotto at Brooklyn Storehouse (I like the stuff she produces but not entirely sold on the event as a whole) and I’ve heard great things about Paragon (but not entirely sure if Miss Bashful x DBBD fit the vibe I’m looking for).
Like the title says, I do love driving and hypnotic, dark or more minimal techno but I can definitely be convinced to try something new (on occasion I could be down for trance/eurodance/acid/hardgroove/etc, I’m not a purist). I’d love to hear any thoughts.
29M, my two friends who usually accompany me to these things are busy this weekend, so I’m looking for a group that’d be down to have a stranger tag along.
No issue doing things alone, I do a lot of solo raves/concerts, but Drum and Bass is one of my favorite genres so I’m hoping to meet up with others who enjoy it.
Was planning on going to Massive at McCarren Parkhouse and hopefully hit up The Wood Shop for Nightstalker afterwards at 11.
?
I'll be hosting an Open Decks this Wednesday (2/05) at Berlin the in East Village from 8-1 with music platform, Harmony, and Bushwick collective Exomoon.
The format is open, with 20 minute slots being drawn all night to give everyone an equal chance of being selected to play. Hope to see you there!

With the new single just having come out, anyone interested in this Lady Gaga rave this Friday?
It's an event at 9 Bob Note and that venue is always a good time!
Me and my lil lady need to play those last three love songs at our wedding; does anyone know what those songs were;
I’m going to see Of The Trees this weekend and I’ve never been to BK Paramount
We want to pregame with the group before the show, looking for affordable places ideally walking distance from the venue
any recommendations would be appreciated, thank you!!
Heyo, is there a rave collective upstate like Rochester or Buffalo?
Any IGs would be appreciated, thank you!
Edit: Thank you guys!! I live in the area but my friend just moved back upstate from Nevada and they're starting from scratch so I thought someone here used to live up there or knows about it.
I really want to go to this!! as the last harddancenyc event was so much fun! However I don’t have anyone to go with this time. If anyone is planning on going and needs a buddy or an extra friend in their group let me know!
Hi everyone! I am a edm/techno obsessed college student in nyc but have never gone to a rave before. My friends and I really want to go, any recommendations/advice? Thank yo
Hi friends!
I’m looking for a reco for a fun show to bring my friends for a (makeup) bachelorette moment. We’re all local to New York, very familiar with the venues (knockdown, elsewhere, great hall (ugh)), but I’m not as knowledgeable on djs.
Is anyone playing that weekend that’s a solid, fun dancey time? Thank you in advance!!
UPDATE: perusing and seeing gareth Emery (who I’ve seen before but coming as an electronic group?) at mirage which I personally hate, or w&w at Brooklyn hangar?
(I’m seeing early show floating points with my bf the night before, open to trying to find evening FP if that’s the reco!)
Hi guys, I’m from the UK me and my friends have planned a trip for February, we will be staying in midtown manhattan, at the time of the trip we will be (2) 19 and (2) 20 I was wondering is there anywhere we would be able to get a drink? Or any activities and clubs that are 18+?
Thanks!
Just sharing that I got my phone stolen last night at Eric Prdyz. I had a shoulder bag that is mainly in front of me and they unzipped it to take the phone. They also called my friends number trying to lure us outside the show to rob us further. Going to have to upgrade my bag for future shows and be careful everyone
She absolutely tore up that set last night, and Boris just took that energy and kept it up all night. Bravo 👏🏼
Why is everyone French? Why doesn’t anyone dance? Why is the coat check outside (those poor workers!)? How do you pronounce it? Sound and layout were nice though
First time at Silo last night.
First of all, Jadalareign (crushed the outro) and DC were both excellent (missed the opener).
My immediate takeaways: Sound. Varies tremendously depending on where you're standing. Some spots the bass overpowers the mids/highs, and vice versa. I found hugging the VIP railing and also directly behind the DJ booth were both solid.
Interior. The half-moon shape of the building is prob not ideal for sound dispersion, but the hangar-like interior def adds its own vibe. I will say the lights are on the brighter side, where at times you can make out every single face in the crowd (which is a bit disorienting tbh). Also, I wasn't expecting HoY-like acrobatics which was an added bonus.
Crowd. Obviously, with a headliner like DC, you're going to get a mixed bag. Old, young, and everything in between. Weekend crowd, so a healthy amount of mouth-breathers and floor banter from folks who clearly didn't know what they signed themselves up for. My main criticism would be the number of ppl who felt compelled to barrel through the dancing crowd, on their way to the smoking section (or vice versa) without the faintest excuse me or polite head nod. There were at least two instances where I was body-checked by two inebriated dudes who then proceeded to leave a trail of tears through the dancefloor, but didn't see security intervene which I found odd.
I might consider returning for a weekday show. But weekends I'd probably cross out in the future, unless it was a must-see. Ppl will rightfully say you can't police every person in the crowd, but there comes a point where the crowd dynamic overwhelms your ability to enjoy the music.
Hey fellow NYC promoters and ravers,
I'm curious to know what ticketing platforms you're using for your events and why. While Resident Advisor is still the hub for underground event listings, its features seem outdated and I can't see RA sustains in the future.
For example, RA lacks:
- Robust user database and SMS/marketing tools
- Flexibility for secret location events (the "TBA -" prefix in the name conflicts with the "TBA" venue in Williamsburg ...) Which has confused a bunch
- Customized tracking links
I've noticed some events shifting to posh.vip, but I'm unsure if it offers significant improvements or the shift is just for supporting this local NYC based startup.
Personally, we've been using Shotgun for our Psy / Hypnotic Techno events, and the experience is good so far. However, we feel we don't get as much visibility as we did on RA.
What platforms are you using, and what are your experiences?
Share your insights!
PS: piggybacking this post to share our next psychedelic techno rave on Feb 15th (Datura 2.0 ~ APHE) https://shotgun.live/en/events/datura-2-aphe?utm_source=reddit
What an awful venue. Packed like sardines. Was hard to catch a vibe.
Hey everyone! My friend and I are trying to decide between two raves in NYC, and I’d love to hear your thoughts. She’s never been to a rave before, and her only request was that it’s “dancing music.” Personally, I love hard techno & tech house, but I can vibe to anything.
Our options are: 1. LSR City Rave – Gareth Emery at the Great Hall (Avant Gardner) 2. W&W at the Brooklyn Hangar
I haven’t been to either artists’ events before, so I’m not sure what would be the better first-time experience. We’re looking for a high-energy crowd, great production, and overall good vibes.
Which would you recommend, especially for someone’s first rave? Any insights on the venues or past experiences with these artists would be super helpful!
(We could also potentially do both since they’re on separate days)
Heyo going to basement for Dax’s set. Lookin for others going. Wanted to roll during the set but didn’t wanna do it solo lmk if your interested
Been a minute as I was occupied with B-school applications. Any good raves (techno/ house) between Feb 10th and March 10th?
I’ll be in NYC for the first time May 17th-19th for Four Tet & Friends Under the K Bridge in Brooklyn.
Fly into LGA around 10:30am Saturday, show goes from 6pm-2am Sat, 2pm-9pm Sunday. Fly back out 4:40pm Monday.
I’d like to make the most of my free time to explore some of the city/culture, make new connections, and have a generally dope time.
No idea where I’m staying yet (sleep is not really a priority lol), so pretty flexible.
Hit me with your recommendations🗽
Do you all debrief and talk about the quality of the experience for attendees? I’m thinking about how bad the sound was for Prydz last night and wonder if it’s something yall talk about and attempt to address or if that doesn’t happen because it was sold out and the beat and drugs are good enough combo for most people tho have had a great time
Anyone have set times for Resolute tonight?
for some reason I can't find this info online!
Male 27.
The title says it all. I went to a rave on Thursday for the first time and let's just say that I had the time of my life? That's exactly how i would describe it.
But anyway, I want to meet people who i can go with? Is there anyway i could connect with people? Maybe someone could msg me and invite me into their group or something? ^_^
Thanks for reading, hope y'all have an AMAZING day/night, take care of yourself and have an amazing new year. Still got 11 months left <3
Update: Thanks a lot for all the messages in the comments. I really appreciate you guys! <3
