Creating a simple Egg liqueur (Eierlikör/Advocaat)

For those unfamiliar with it: In Europe (at least Germany and Netherlands) this is a relatively popular liquor usually enjoyed as a dessert or cake topping and as a base for what is basically egg nog around christmas. Maybe Im stating the obvious here but I searched this sub for some time and didn't find much so I felt its better to clarify. Usually its made with egg yolks, sugar, cream and clear grain spirit, but of course there are (great) versions with whisky, rum etc. As all good european things the ingredients are regulated so 1 litre has to contain at least 140g egg yolk, 150g sugar and 14% alcohol. As you can imagine its eggy, creamy, sweet with hints of vanilla and a good amount of boozy warmness to it, but there are none of the egg nog spices, so its not weird to have outside of christmas(otherwise I would have just looked for an egg nog).

Im relatively new to this and never had a custard but from what Ive gathered so far I basically want custard that is heavy on the eggs light on the vanilla paired with a good rum to add the booze and maybe a bit complexity that goes well with the creaminess and vanilla. I've also seen Crème anglaise, Zabaione and Meringue flavorings which I could imagine would work instead of or combined with custard.

Some flavorings I read go in that direction are •INW Custard •DV Crème Anglaise •FA Custard Premium(?) •TFA Jamaican Rum •NNSC whiskey cream (Im getting it anyway so there will be a version with that) •WF Egg Yolk is sold out at nomnomz but if its just what I need Id consider getting it from someplace else.

If you would go about this completely different, then Id love to hear about it. Im thankful for any input and please be aware that Im new here and english isnt my first language so apologies if Im missing something or sound weird.

Im btw also planning to make some of this for my friend who just started vaping with the 0.8ohm pods on the Vap Eco Nano so Im trying to keep it simple so that it will work with 50/50 to 60/40 liquid on that device.

Tl;dr: please help me make 40 proof eggnog without the nutmeg and cinnamon

Trying to find Flavor Revolution flavors, are they out of business?

The flavor specifically Im looking for was called Electric Blue from Flavor Revolution. Seems Flavor Revolution went out of business? Can anyone confirm this?

Also, can you help me find a blue raspberry sour straw type flavor to replace it? Tastes like those blue sour punch candy straws.

I dont order as much flavoring as I once did 8 or 9 years ago when I start vaping just because I end up not using a lot of it. Have only used bullcity in the past year and only have made one order to cut down on wasteful spending.

However, this 2023 bcf order is running low as I used all the flavors I like and need to restock soon.

Was going to try flavorjungle as I used to use ecigxpress and apparently it's the same company. The place I got the Flavor Revolution from if I recall might have been nicriver but cant find FR flavors on BCF, FJ or on nicriver. I'm sure there is some concentrate that is as good if not better than electric blue but stumped as what that might be.

Finally, as someone who is getting back into diy, can someone hook me up with a current vendor list? I'm only aware of BCF and FJ. I'm a bit out of the loop.

    Thanks

What is the difference between aromas and flavors?

This is my first post on this sub. I’ve been mixing for about 5 months and I’m a little lost when some flavors are called aromas. Is there a difference? Or just different lingo?

    Appreciation post

Im putting together my first nomnomz order right now after experimenting with my first flavors from ASM (german icecream flavorings). I just gotta say how much I appreciate this community for being so incredibly helpful and willing to share knowledge. I love to deep dive into things so this is an absolute goldmine. Special thanks go out to u/Session-Drummer and everyone doing the noted series. There have got to be a fair amount whisky lovers around here the way people do their tasting notes and analyse flavors. Also if you have any must haves I should add to my order feel free to comment :)

Country Summer: The Best Damn🍓Strawberry Lemonade🍋

    https://i.imgur.com/6Y6ENGO.jpeg

I realize I'm a bit late with this week’s recipe update—life has been wonderfully busy lately! A couple of months ago, I started applying for local jobs, and I'm excited to share that I recently landed a part-time, seasonal position with our local Parks & Recreation Department. It’s thrilling to think about getting back into the swing of things outside the home, and the cherry on top? Tom was hired as well, so we’ll be tackling this new adventure together. Just wanted to give you all a quick life update—the sun is shining, and things are definitely looking brighter.

Now, onto the much-anticipated recipe. This week, I'm finally unveiling Country Summer, a flavor that holds a special place in my heart. It took over ten years to perfect, with about 2.5 years dedicated to crafting the ultimate strawberry lemonade. This wasn’t a continuous effort; it involved numerous trials and iterations, periods of rest, and many restarts fueled by fresh inspirations or new ingredients that seemed promising. Unlike other recipes I’ve set aside over the years—like a grapefruit blend, strawberry kiwi, and even a snickerdoodle—something about this quest for the perfect strawberry lemonade kept me coming back, determined more than ever. It’s my pleasure to share this labor of love with you today.

Exploring the Path to 🍓Country Summer🍋

Throughout the development of Country Summer, numerous experimental blends laid the groundwork for the final masterpiece. Here’s a glimpse into a few pivotal trials that helped shape this beloved recipe:

    Test Flavor: Quench

    • Lemonade (LA): 10%
    • Mandarin (FA): 6%
    • Shisha Strawberry (VT): 6%
    • Alpine Strawberry (FLV): 1%
    • Fizz Pop (CAP): 2%
    • Super Sweet: 0.5%

Discovery: While rummaging through my flavor stash, I sniffed out FA's Mandarin, which surprisingly smelled like it could perfect the sweet base of lemonade I needed. This was a pivotal moment, teaching me to trust my instincts and explore beyond the expected. FA's Mandarin tempered the sharp lemon tones, adding the sweetness and depth I was searching for.

    Test Flavor: Home Squeeze

    • Pineapple Juice (VT): 1.75%
    • Mandarin (FA): 1.5%
    • Grapefruit (Medicine Flower - 20% Dilution w/ PG): 1.0%
    • Alpine Strawberry (FLV): 0.75%
    • WS-23: 0.25%

Learning: This recipe marked my best attempt at a grapefruit flavor. The old-school DIYers were right; Medicine Flower's Grapefruit was the best on the market, albeit prohibitively expensive and tricky to work with. It came as a strong alcohol-based flavor that I diluted with PG to a workable 20% strength. Even then, at just 1.0%, it was potent but beautifully authentic. I mixed it with Alpine Strawberry to sweeten the bitter notes, hoping to transform it into a juicy, ruby red grapefruit sprinkled with coarse sugar. Although promising, the high cost made me rethink its viability for a wider audience.

    ##Test Flavor: TANPL Redux

    • Fizzy Strawberry (PUR): 2.0%
    • Shisha Strawberry (VT): 2.0%
    • Strawberry Harvest (Jungle Flavors): 1.5%
    • Mandarin (FA): 1.5%
    • Summertime Lemonade (WF): 2.0%
    • Lemon (Flavor's Express): 0.5%
    • Alpine Strawberry (FLV): 0.25%
    • Super Sweet (CAP): 0.5%

Reflections: Honestly, I can't remember what TANPL stood for, and I disliked the original so much I deleted it! But, the "Redux" version survived by sheer luck. Frustrated with previous iterations, I kept tweaking, throwing everything I could think of into the mix. PUR's Fizzy Strawberry was a standout, enhancing the Shisha Strawberry with a burst of fresh fruitiness. However, I had to drop WF's Summertime Lemonade because it kept burning out Caliburn pods—a real shame since it tasted so good.

    Behold, Country Summer!

After countless experiments and discoveries, Country Summer emerged as a blend that truly captures the essence of a blissful, sunny day. It's named after a yearly country festival that's held here in Sonoma County.

This recipe is also available on AlltheFlavors.

    ###Country Summer Recipe:

    • Fizzy Strawberry (PUR): 3.0%

Sourcing Ingredients: Fizzy Strawberry from Purilum has become a rare find since Bull City stopped stocking it. Fortunately, I have a good supply on hand, and I've also discovered a vendor in Canada, as well as European suppliers like NomNomz, who still carry it. Most of the other ingredients should be readily available through Bull City.

Special Offer: If you're looking to try out Fizzy Strawberry, I can help you get it for less than what you might pay at other stores. Just let me know, and I can arrange to send some your way. Feel free to PM me on Reddit, contact me on my supporter page, or directly via e-mail.

    #Remembering the Launch:

We introduced Country Summer as our mystery flavor during the 4th of July Sale in 2020. It was part of the hype surrounding the Free Caliburn "Freedom" bundles. True to its name, Country Summer was the perfect flavor to celebrate the weekend, embodying the spirit of freedom and festivity.

Parting Flavors: The Bittersweet Release of Country Summer

As I share the recipe for "Country Summer," it's with a heavy heart that I reflect on the approaching anniversary of announcing the shutdown of our beloved brand. This recipe, like many others, was crafted with immense passion and creativity, representing more than just a flavor—it's a piece of my heart, a fragment of a dream I lived every day.

Releasing "Country Summer" to you all is more challenging than I ever anticipated. Each ingredient, each test, and each iteration was a step in a journey that I cherished deeply. As I step away from creating new blends, I find myself missing the thrill of discovery and the joy of sharing new tastes with the world. This isn't just a goodbye to a recipe; it's a farewell to a significant part of my life's work.

Though my path has shifted away from these creations, the memories and experiences we've shared through each flavor will forever be a part of who I am. Thank you for being there, for every puff, every feedback, and every moment that made this journey worthwhile.

    FW Brown sugar

I got a flavor delivery. fw brown sugar among other things, and when I opened the package everything smelled of it. The next day I threw a couple of drops of ws-23 that came in the same delivery in some unflavoured juice, and now it has a faint taste of brown sugar and the aftertaste is like I've eaten sugar pie.

So, my question is at what % (or ‰...) is this stuff not overbearing? And wilI I ever get the taste out of my device if I use it?

    WF Sour Blue Raspberry

Hey all. QQ. I used to mix WF Sour Blue Raspberry CANDY as a stand-alone flavor and they recommended it at 8%. I just picked it up again for the first time in a couple years (from Bull City) and I noticed the name is now Sour Blue Raspberry FLAVOR and WF recommends 4% now. It’s also now an orange color as opposed to the clear it used to be.

Question - Is this the same flavor and I should I go for 4% or 8%?

    Thanks

🍌Nana Custard - Banana Custard by TBD Liquids

    https://imgur.com/fW4v9yp

    #Nana Custard

A delectable banana cream custard supported by a savory graham cracker crust.

    The Story:

As 2015 wound down, the vaping world was in the throes of a "custard craze." With box mods growing more powerful by the day, airflow designs expanding, and coils becoming ever more intricate, us hobbyists reveled in the era of cloud chasing. Custards were the rave; it seemed daily someone claimed to have concocted the new reigning king of custard.

However, there was a hitch—I wasn't a fan of custards. 😂 The heavier, richly egg-and-milk infused varieties made me feel queasy, and I couldn't imagine using them as my all-day vape. Amidst a landscape where brands competed to outdo each other with increasingly rich custards packaged in opulent glass droppers and sold at soaring prices, our approach remained grounded. We opted for practical plastic bottles and home-printed labels—no frills, just quality and consistency.

Determined to forge my own path, I decided to rework one of our top sellers at the time, Monkey Juice, into a banana custard that I could actually enjoy. The journey was fraught with trials and numerous failures. Struggling with my aversion to the typical egg-and-milk flavor profile, each failed attempt was harder to stomach than the last.

Then, breakthrough—it was perfect. After many trials, I finally crafted a banana custard that was both delightful and digestible, striking just the right balance to delight even a custard skeptic like myself. This creation wasn't just a personal victory; it marked a new direction for our flavors, one where uniqueness and personal preference triumphed over market trends.

"I can tell you that they really nailed it. This one is phenomenal."

###"I've been vaping the t*** off this in my Zephyrus and I just can't get enough of it"

    Source: Youtube Review

That’s right, we had officially entered the Custard game. 😎

The buzz was electric—our Reddit reviews were glowing, sometimes even surpassing our expectations. We chose not to sell in stores, preferring instead a direct-to-consumer model that kept our operations more intimate. This connection to our customers wasn't just a business strategy; it was the heart of our brand. We lived by the pulse of community feedback, which not only sustained us but pushed us to innovate continually. Each rave review was a testament to our commitment, and every constructive critique a chance to refine and excel.

Inspired by this journey and the community that supported us every step of the way, I'm thrilled to now share the secret behind Nana Custard. For all the DIY enthusiasts out there, whether you’re a seasoned mixer or just starting your first batch, this recipe is for you.

Here’s how you can make your very own Nana Custard:

This recipe is also available on AlltheFlavors.

    • Vanilla Custard (CAP): 4% - The flavor was originally developed using V1, you can opt to use this more flavorful version if you don't mind a bit of diketone content. We swapped to V2 by mid-2016 due to all of the diacetyl concerns going around at the time.
    • Banana Cream (LA): 6% - This might not be the colorless version like we used. Dashvapes has the colorless version. Colorless will be easier on your coils/pods. I have a ton of this on-hand and can ship anywhere, just hit me up on my supporter page if you need help sourcing any of these.
    • Graham Cracker (Clear) (TFA): 4%
    • Cookie (FA): 1%
    • Sweet Cream (TFA): 1%
    • Sweetener (TFA): 0.5% - You can use Capella's Super Sweet at 0.25% if you already have that.

And that's the secret sauce—or should I say juice?—behind Nana Custard.

Now that you have the blueprint, it’s your turn to play mad scientist. Mix it up, make it your own, or even start a custard revolution from your home. Who knows, you might end up creating something that puts my concoction to shame! Share your creations, disasters, and everything in between. Let’s keep our coils buzzing and our taste buds guessing.

🌈Rainbow Candy🍬 - Taste the Rainbow by TBD Liquids

    https://imgur.com/Fy05FX4

To kick things off, I'll dive straight into the recipe, saving the historical backdrop and the series of events leading to its creation for later. This might just be the simplest recipe I've ever shared, yet it's remarkably effective. There's sometimes a misconception within the flavor making community that complexity is synonymous with quality, but my experience has taught me otherwise. With the right ingredients in the correct proportions, crafting a beloved concoction is not only possible but straightforward.

    #🌈 Rainbow Candy Recipe 🍬

    • (WF) Strawberry Gummy Candy: 7% - This flavoring really is our base, imagine biting into a skittle without the flavored shell. That sweet & fruity white core.
    • (CSL) Rainbow Candy: 7% - This is our top note, it's what tells you that this is a skittle.
    • (CAP) Super Sweet: 0.5% - Just to sweeten things up since this is a candy.
    • Recommended PG/VG for Pods: 63% VG / 37% PG

After being forced by the FDA to close my small business last year, I now share my recipes openly, relying on the kindness of supporters to sustain my craft. If you've enjoyed my creations, consider buying me a $3 coffee . Your generosity enables me to continue sharing recipes freely while offering early access to new creations and exclusive DIY content through my supporter page. Thank you for being a part of this journey! 😊

🍓🥛Dragon's Milk - Strawberry Dragonfruit Cream by TBD Liquids

    https://i.imgur.com/fNEa6vo.jpg

#Dragon's Milk... where to begin? This recipe was born from my pursuit to recreate the unforgettable essence of Suicide Bunny's Sucker Punch.

While many vapers were captivated by Suicide Bunny's renowned strawberry custard, Mother's Milk, it was the elusive allure of Sucker Punch that truly resonated with me. Suicide Bunny, led by the visionary "Pip," presented a unique narrative in the e-liquid realm. As a female entrepreneur, Pip not only curated exceptional flavors but also adorned them with captivating artwork.

However, amidst the acclaim, controversy brewed in online communities. Sadly, gender bias overshadowed Pip's achievements, with undue focus on her identity rather than her craft. In retrospect, Pip's transparency was revolutionary in an industry dominated by anonymity. In 2016, her prominence as a woman in the e-liquid landscape was unprecedented. And so, the inspiration for Dragon's Milk emerged—a rendition of Sucker Punch, albeit with a zestier, fruit-centric twist and a touch less creaminess to suit my personal taste.

    ##Dragon's Milk Signature E-Juice Recipe

This recipe is also available on AlltheFlavors.

Rumored to exclusively feature TFA flavorings, I crafted this clone using solely TFA ingredients. To mitigate initial harshness, I introduced 1% Ethyl Maltol, lending a subtle sweetness and smoothing the overall profile.

    ##Dragon's Milk Retired Salt Recipe

For those craving the essence of Dragon's Milk in a salt recipe, fear not. I adapted this beloved flavor 1:1 into a salt version, which became one of our best-selling retired salt recipes. The transition to pods was seamless, maintaining the flavor's integrity with a typical PG/VG ratio of 63% VG / 37% PG.

There are no changes from the e-juice recipe.

What makes the salt recipe truly distinctive is its launch amidst a period of renewal for TBD Liquids, marking Memorial Day 2019 as a pivotal moment. I poured my energy into extensive marketing efforts for this sale, unveiling Dragon's Milk Salt alongside the Caliburn. This venture into hardware was a departure from our previous focus, with the last investment made nearly two years prior in Geekvape RTAs.

The company had endured financial strain, with personal funds being used to sustain operations. Balancing full-time schooling alongside these challenges, I resolved to make one final push to revitalize the business. Ironically, despite being immersed in the industry, I had transitioned to using JUUL products for their convenience.

However, the discovery of the Caliburn proved transformative. Experimenting with my signature Dragon's Milk in a Caliburn pod, I found myself gradually reducing my reliance on JUUL. This shift sparked a realization – if the Caliburn could sway my loyalty, it held potential to captivate others. Motivated by this insight, I took a bold leap, purchasing hundreds of Caliburns to coincide with the sale.

This decision was a gamble, perhaps the greatest risk I'd ever taken, but it reshaped the trajectory of TBD Liquids forever. It laid the groundwork for a resurgence, offering a competitive edge against JUUL and welcoming a wave of new customers. At that time, the concept of a handcrafted line had yet to materialize; my focus remained on adapting our signature flavors into salts. In retrospect, that leap of faith was instrumental in charting a new course for our company.

###Having closed TBD Liquids last year, I now share my recipes openly, relying on the kindness of supporters to sustain my craft. If you've enjoyed my creations, consider buying me a $3 coffee. ###Your generosity enables me to continue sharing recipes freely while offering early access to new creations and exclusive DIY content through my supporter page. Thank you for being a part of this journey! 😊

Clone Request Thread - April 2024

Love some commercial juice but are tired of paying someone else to mix for you? Then you are in the right place. First, did you use the sidebar and search feature? There are also specific clone threads linked in the sidebar. If these have turned up dry, then please post your request for a clone recipe here.

However, you should know that most of the experienced users no longer buy commercial juice. Why pay retail when you can mix amazing juice for less than 1/10th of that?

Be as descriptive as possible. Including the description provided by the vendor isn't a bad idea but you'll get better recommendations by describing what **you** taste. If you've already tried a clone recipe and it wasn't right, include a link to the recipe and describe what was different. The more information you provide, the easier it will be for someone to help you.

Read more on [Clone Recipes](https://diyejuice.org/recipes/clones) and how to get he most out of your request.

    Happy Mixing!

Orange you just creaming yourselves over another citrusy Flavor of the Week?

As always, the purpose of this thread is to gather the community to explore a category of flavor and its many uses.
    ##⭐ This week's flavor is . . . Orange Cream

    requested by an Anonymous Mixer

Post your own recipes containing this week's Flavor of the Week, as the star or in a supporting role, with or without development notes. Talk about other people's recipes that use it. Share flavor notes. Compare and contrast different manufacturers' versions of the FOTW. Ask for help using a flavor in general or to achieve something specific, offer advice, brainstorm ideas, consider substitutions, suggest pairings... really anything at all as long as it's on topic. But most of all, remember to have FUN

'Suggest a Recipe for my Flavors' Thread - Week of March 25, 2024

Got a bunch of flavors but not sure how to make them work together? Post your list here, and our team of semi-professional mixologists will make suggestions for you! Don't forget to include manufacturers' names for all of your concentrates, and make your list easier to read by using bullet points or at least listing each of your flavors on a new line by hitting return twice after each flavor.

There are [Recipe Sharing](https://diyejuice.org/guides/calculators) websites in the sidebar where you can register a free account, input your flavors, sort by rating, and either mix something up or be inspired to make something with your ingredients.
