Art Bell and Steven Seagal

Last night I was listening to Art Bell Somewhere in Time and on the first hour of the 11/24/1999 podcast, Art mentioned he's going to have Steven Seagal on the show.

I found out Steven appeared on the 12/02/1999 show according to this

https://scratchpad.fandom.com/wiki/Coast_to_Coast_AM_-_Index_of_Shows

Does anyone have a recording of them talking? If not does anyone remember how it went? I was quite surprised Art had Steven on his show. I tried searching for the archive of the full podcast but to no avail.

I believe this is around Jan 13, 2000 — Art talks about his promotional tour in NY city with Whitley and the Fox News studio was rude to him and he burned them and walked away from their interview.

Anyone remember the time Art got so pissed off at this receptionist who repeatedly told Art: “No photos!” In a really rude way and on the third time it happened, after Art was in make up, he just got fed up and stormed out of the building. He never mentioned if Whitley stayed for his part. They were touring the Coming Superstorm Book.

Anyway — I was listening last night and it tickled me to hear him tell it.

Link to Archive of Art shows with searchable transcripts. Please share link again?

Does anyone have the link to this amazing resource where there are transcripts to every Art Bell show? It’s been shared in this sub a few times but I have misplaced the link. If you haven’t seen it, it’s quite amazing. It archives more shows than just Art’s as well. It’s exceptional. Please reply with the link?

A sad and disturbing episode: 1997-05-20 Ann N. Martin - Pet Food

This was a gross and terrifying episode about the animal rendering industry, and how it operates under our noses.

  1. It is not about standard slaughter house operations "for human consumption" (pigs, cows, chickens)
  2. It is about how all other animals are "disposed of" (pets, roadkill, dead farm animals, slaughterhouse rejects, slaughterhouse offal)
  3. When you take your cat or dog to be euthanized, and the vet offers to dispose of it, it is usually sent to a rendering plant rather than cremation.
  4. The animal hospitals are often just as clueless, they just know that a truck comes by every so often to pick up the bodies.
  5. The rendering process involves sending the animals through a grinder, skin and fur and all then dumping them into a giant pressure cooker. No effort is made to separate possible sick animals, or animals that have been killed with euthanasia drugs.
  6. After the slurry has cooked, the fats (tallows) are removed from the top - these are sent to cosmetic manufacturers.
  7. The rest is ground up and made into pet food - the meat and bone meal ingredients on the back of the pet food package.

Last night was not sweet dreams. I have no reason to believe anything has changed.

I think Courtney Brown, the remote viewer who was banned from the show for the Hale-Bopp spaceship caper, called in on 9/14/2001 anonymously to discuss 9/11.

The call begins at 1:54:31.

The voice seems similar but the cadence, verbal diarrhea, and like obsequious not-so-subtle persuasion tactics are so similar to Brown. Plus the point of the call was to encourage Art to get more remote viewers as guests on the show to get to the bottom of 9/11.

So either using 9/11 as a means of resurrecting his reputation or perhaps to try and discredit rival Ed Dames by having him drop the ball on a prediction (again) during a major world event (just theorizing). It is hard to tell because the caller refers to a specific previous guest without naming him before Art cut him off.

Don McAlvaney 1994-08-31 Amazing show

1994 08 31 Coast to Coast AM wit

Amazing with a prophetic guest. Don tells us all about how the world (Russia) really is. This show is mindblowing. Don McAlvaney talks about how the fall of the USSR was just a deception. That the Russians will rise again soon - this was in 1994!

Art's sense of humor.

As I've been making my way through the archives for the first time in a while (I only regularly started listening in the early 2000s, as that was the first time I lived in a place that had an affiliate), getting a glimpse here and there at Art's sense of humor and hearing his laugh is heartwarming. I guess his casual nature with most guests/callers also contributes, but when he gets tickled by a story or he plays a noise or does something else that showed just how much fun he was having I tend to have to repeat it a few times. He found a lot of joy in what he did.

On another note, as I'm making my way through the archives I've decided I hate Lee Hazelwood. Some Velvet Morning is one of the dumbest songs I've ever heard and if I never hear it again I'll be okay. Also, I don't want to ride any more seesaws.

Whitley Striber The Key

Does anyone know the show date when Whitley went in depth on his book The Key?

I’ve been looking for this show but have come up short.

It was a fascinating show, I’d really like to listen to it again. heard it so long ago but it’s always stuck with me.

Art Bell + Pacific Drive = AMAZING

Any gamers on this sub should consider checking out Pacific Drive. It's a game set in the 90s about driving a station wagon around "the Olympic Exclusion Zone" - an area of the Pacific Northwest that's been quarantined due to strange paranormal anomalies.

The game is good on its own, but the devs recently added a feature that lets you play your own mp3s through the in-game car radio. I've been loading up mp3s of old Art Bell episodes and listening to them while I try to navigate the spooky anomalies. It's amazing.

Sure, you could just play the episodes on your iphone or whatever but something about having the episode mixed in with the in-game audio takes it to another level. The levels vary when you get out of the car, close the door, etc. I've been parking the car near scavenging locations with the doors open so I can still hear Art. Sometimes I have to venture so far from the vehicle that I can't hear Art and that gets even creepier.

Art Bell Fan did a show about Art.

51 minute show from a girl who grew up listening to Art. Interviews with a few other people who were also listeners, and one guy who was a troll who appeared with a bs story on the air with Art. It is really interesting and I think you will enjoy it.

Best bumper music

Art always played the best bumper music, and not just a few seconds, the whole song. Last night I woke up to Highwayman, which he played in honor of Waylon Jennings death. He did (and still does) introduce me to some amazing music.

Was Art behind Mel's hole? (Yes, that is an unfortunate title)

Was listening to last Thursday's episode of "Night Dreams Talk Radio With Gary Anderson" on Spotify today (its similar to modern Coast2Coast AM, geared a bit more to "true believers" than I would prefer, but OK) and the host claimed that he was friends with Art Bell, and that the whole "Mel's Hole" thing was cooked up by Art to see if people would actually believe it, and Mel was just one of Art's ham radio buddies. Some of the details that Gary gave were off, but not in a way that would be realistic for someone telling a 30 year old story they weren't personally involved with.

So what do you think? Was Art actually behind one of the best known "stories" of his show or was this guy just blowing smoke?

The episode was titled "UAPs Intelligent Life Richard Warren Beckwith" with the Mel's hole reference being around the middle of it.

Art’s broadcasting prowess

Coast to Coast AM, 3-11-1998:

This is a nice little exchange between Art and Dick Allgire, a reporter for KITV news in Honolulu. Art was sharing a news report Dick had presented concerning the Navy’s experiments on how low frequency sonar affects humpback whales. He brought Dick on to the show to comment.

Dick: Before we get to the whales can I ask you a quick question, Art?

Art: Of course.

Dick: You’re there alone, right?

Art: Absolutely.

Dick: I’ve just sent a couple of faxes and called one person and listened to your show, and I can’t keep up with you.

(Art chuckles)

Dick: You’re doing commercials, checking faxes, checking the time…

Art: Yep.

Dick: Queuing up and playing bumper music, following the internet, calling five people, running the board, and doing interviews on the fly…

Art: (laughing) I know.

Dick: You do all of that?

Art: I do.

Dick: As one broadcaster to another, you’re pretty amazing, Art.

Art: Thank you, my friend. I do that that because I’ve always done it, Dick, and now I don’t know how to do it any other way. If I had a producer doing things for me, I don’t think I’d… this way I know what’s gonna happen, when it’s gonna happen. I arrange it, even if I’m going nuts.

Dick: You must have so much adrenaline after the show you must not sleep for hours.

Art: I do. I do. Is it like that for TV reporters?

Dick: Yes, I have a hard time getting to sleep, on a good night when there’s news happening.

Art Bell, the G.O.A.T.!!

Just finished the episode with John Hogue (amazing time to listen to it as of recent world events)

What are your favourite episodes/guests?

John hogue is incredibly intelligent and well spoken. Not once did he back himself into an egotistical, self righteous prophet or person.. just a man interpreting and discussing history and future events.

I found it fascinating as they had just had a recent election during that episode.

I sure do miss Art Bell.

I’m jealous about a lot of you guys as I’m sure you guys were listening to him during the 1990s and later on in the 2000s on Coast to Coast AM. For context I was born in 1999, and growing up I become fascinated with things like space, conspiracy theories, urban myths, and what not. But I didn’t really discover who he was until I was around 13-14 when I found a certain video on YouTube where he was doing an open line caller session with people claiming to work at Area 51 in 1997. After that I became instantly hooked, and started going down a rabbit hole of previous shows he done where him and his guests talked about either time travel, exorcisms, men in black, etc..

The very first time I managed to actually hear him live for the first time was his first show on Dark Matter with Michio Kaku, and that was extremely enjoyable to listen to. Nonetheless, Art Bell was a wonderful host, and the quality of the shows he done speak for themselves compared to nowadays. Not to talk bad about George Noory, or other guest hosts such as George Knapp (who I still enjoy to listen to), but the shows themselves are not really great to tune into with people calling in to ramble on about nothing that doesn’t pertain to the material being presented, and the whole half of the show just screams one big infomercial. (Talking about Natural Remedies)

Other than that, I have some questions for you guys. What was your most favorite thing about Art Bell? Were there any shows that were memorable for you guys? If Art Bell was still alive, and you had the chance to call in to talk about anything, what would you discuss with him?
