Is there any way to check what all tabs are opened in mac version of arc cause if i open my pinned tab and then change to another tab, I don't know if that pinned tab is open or not
Now that the Browser Company has announced they are putting Arc on life support in favor of a mystery browser that may or may not be even viable someday, I'm considering moving to a different browser. I want:
Is anybody else in the same boat?
I have exclusively used windows and desktop PC's (and my now dead surfacebook 2 i7 gtx1060 model) and switched to arc about a year ago. Now that my SB2 died, I got a M3 Air and after observing the power usage, Arc uses approximately 2x the power than firefox which uses like 25% more than chrome and 50% more than safari.
I can gain like a few hours of battery life by not using Arc. WHY?
I'm a product designer. The whole syncing tabs on the new window is really bad UX.
TLDR: Why doesn't Arc give the user an option to turn this function off if they know that this is one of the top reasons for day-1 churn?
A LOT of users run multiple displays and multiple windows. Some tabs on these windows need to be active at the same time. For example, I need to screenshare a youtube video in a meeting. I would open Google Hangout on Window A, and Youtube on Window B. This is a tactical user function, meaning it serves a more specific purpose than "just browsing the web" and it's a more important function to me than "I don't want to lose my tabs".
Secondly, this is how the mainstream browsers behave. Deviating from this main behavior is incredibly foolish because people expect certain key functions to behave the same way across platforms (see Jakob's Law).
Thirdly, they ALREADY KNOW that this is one of the top reasons for day-1 churn. But they're continuing with the sync tabs because "they don't want to devalue the concept of space".
This is, product development 101. Build, release, revise upon user feedback. If there are issues with one of the core functions and the solutions are polarizing, there should be an option for the user to turn the function on or off. Then collect the user data on how the users actually use the product.
This not only protects the precious "value" of the space concept (for people who like that workflow), but being able to turn the sync tab off gives the other half of the user base who want their browser to behave similarly as other browsers to love using Arc as well.
ON MAC: not sure why the flair was changed to "Windows Help"
Password manager says no passwords to list, but autofill works - no, I'm not using any other extensions or password apps.
The android version is discriminated hard.
2.No aesthetic Blur ui.
You can add more.
What are the additional benefits I get using arc browser?
Hi everyone,
I noticed some people posting where they have their favourite sites to display in a grid format as tiles, whereas my favourites just stack the site name on top of each other.
How are people achieving favorite sites as tiles?
Is there a way to set Perplexity as the default search engine? I know there were talks about this about a year ago, but did they implement it?
Happens when I reload a website - on iPhone 8, iOS 16.7.10
Nowadays, people are criticizing Arc a lot for its power consumption, so is it a significant issue? How much difference is there between these two browsers?
Do we have any devs that are working in Arc in the sub?
Is the complaining gonna get us some where?
It would be nice to know that the devs can actually see that we are mad or can even know what do we think about Arc..
To me it's been really hard to make the switch back to another browser but after testing batter performance on my M2 Max with Arc vs Safari and remembering my Mac can put up with several hours of use on a single charge I have decided not to use Arc anymore until this issue is solved
It's genuinely sad for me because currently no other browser is as feature full and beautiful as Arc is and I think it will be a while until that happens again, I switched back to safari because I really don't mind the browsing experience and the topbar not being huge is important to me.
Anyone else experienced this huge battery drains? I have for the pasts months and I disregarded them thinking my battery performance was degrading faster than expected but no, It was just Arc, my batter health is at a "Normal" 86% after 18 months of daily use.
I have several spaces and many tabs open on them. How can I determine which tab on which space is playing sound? Is the only way to determine this to click on every single tab in every single space until I find it?
Hey fellow Arc enthusiasts! As we all know, Arc Browser is designed to boost our productivity. However, I believe there's room for improvement in the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, particularly when it comes to video navigation.Currently, the PiP feature allows us to:
While these are useful, I think we're missing out on a powerful feature: video chapters. Here's my proposal to take Arc's PiP mode to the next level:
This enhancement would be particularly beneficial for many types of content that Arc browser users work on :
We could significantly improve our ability to find and revisit specific content within videos, further boosting our productivity in Arc. What do you think? Would this feature be useful to you? Any other ideas to improve this PiP navigation?
I’ve been loving Arc Browser overall, but I’m running into a pretty frustrating issue. Every time I restart the browser, all my custom shortcuts are reset back to their default settings, even though everything is synced. This has become a real dealbreaker for me since I rely heavily on my personalized setup to stay efficient.
I’ve tried re-syncing and double-checking all the settings, but nothing seems to lock in my custom shortcuts permanently. Has anyone else experienced this bug? Is it a known issue with Arc, or am I missing something? Any workarounds for this?
There is just one thing that made me switch browsers: the search engine shortcut
Chrome already has the functionality but this never worked on Windows Arc. I love Arc but this little thing pisses me off.
Not sure if this is new, I've only been using Arc on PC for a week or so, but this does not happen on my mac. The spacebar (perhaps my most commonly used shortcut key in browser) has been hijacked and it clears the rest of the tabs. At least in Windows, I see no way to disable this. Help?
Along with this issue, I've noticed a continuous problem with Arc losing focus on YouTube videos (much more frequently in windows and with no external actions performed. I'll literally be happily zipping back and forth in a video with my keyboard and all of a sudden it will stop responding) which is part of the problem.
I can‘t even c&p, pin the tab or put it in a space or folder, neither it syncs it with the desktop app .
We now have the "👎 Complaint" flair, since that's what this sub has turned into now. Those who want to ignore complaint posts may filter the sub excluding this flair.
Posts marked incorrectly will be changed to use this flair.
I typically stay on top of updates for Arc and all week things have been smooth.
Now for work, I upload folders on the regular to Dropbox. This function worked flawlessly until Thursday this week.
I hit the upload folder button and the website freezes. Arc doesn't freeze, but the website itself does. It ignores all mouse input. Refresh, same issue. I thought it was an issue until I experienced it again today and it's a critical folder that had to be uploaded, so switched back to Safari just to be able to upload again and it ended up working flawlessly there.
So what's the deal here? Is this an Arc side issue or am I missing something? Anyone else come across this issue lately?
I think people are missing the point. The application I loved is no longer going to receive substantial updates. What those updates are or could be doesn’t matter—that’s not how product development works. The end user doesn’t always know what they want; they just know they want something. That’s what product developers are for. That’s how designers work.
To relegate Arc to a string of cobbled-together security patches and backend updates is possibly the worst fate anyone could ask for in a product they loved. The application we all rallied around for being something new has just ended up as another dead browser project rotting away on GitHub—except this time, we don’t even have the luxury of GitHub.
So, while some get frustrated with those who genuinely believe we’ve lost something here—something magical—I have to ask: Where should we express our frustrations? Where do we voice our opinions? Twitter? Really? A contact button that says, “Good job, we’ll get back to you when we’re not busy”?
If you don’t think Arc has changed the way people work, then I don’t know what to tell you. And to be told that this app is being tossed aside in favor of a tool antithetical to how we use the browser—shouldn’t we be allowed to express that frustration? Isn’t that what this is? An open public forum where we can discuss the future of a product we all loved? A space where frustration can foster a dialogue of options, alternatives, and solutions?
I guess I’m asking too much. Arc, for better or worse, was a breath of fresh air—ultimately killed off by shortsighted ideology in favor of a product that doesn’t even exist yet. It was a risk, for sure—being the first to market always is—but Dia isn’t here yet, so we don’t know its future. But we do know the future of Arc, and it’s only going to get emptier as more and more browsers pop up, stripping away the joy and excitement of that next Arc update.
I’ll be here till the wheels fall off. A lot of people will too and yes, a lot of people are happy with the state TBC left Arc in, but those people can also be disappointed. Something we’ve all lost with the advent of the internet is what separates us from AI and robots: the human element of being a 1 and a 0 at the same time—something binary computers will never be able to do.
With love,
Someone who cares alot about this stupid little browser of ours.
Arc is so dead it's the best browser out there. I have half a mind to unsubscribe from this channel because it's nothing but "Arc is dead!" or "I don't know what yall talking about, Arc is great!" Soooo tired.
I did prefer when there was a lot of excitement and new features, but even as is there's nothing that compares, not even close. Whenever someone talks of performance I can't help but think, are we back in 2010? Even when I was on the original M1 with 8GB of RAM I never had resource issues.
Anyway, with the lack of updates, it does for sure removes the need to check in on this sub, particularly when it's as whiny as it now is. Oh and I'm likely going to be amongst the first to try Dia or whatever their next thing is.
Hope yall get better!
Is there a way to view open tabs? I heard that by pressing Ctrl+Tab, you will view the opened ones, but that's not the case for me. Opening the task manager every time isn't convenient. (Win10)
I use the pinned tab section more as a quick book mark for my frequently used sites. When I click on it, is there a way to see it also in the tab section? Helpful to organize when I have 2 or more instances of 2 or more of my pinned tabs.
