We are loud and opinionated. We support each other. We fill out comment cards wherever we go and almost always list "open bar" under Suggested Improvements. Our kids know Sleater-Kinney and Beastie Boys songs by heart. You can see our tattoos if you ask politely. We love our kids and will kill you if you hurt them. Come play with us.

We will make this up as we go along. For now, just don't be a dick.

My sister just dropped her new album, an amazing assortment of kids tunes about animals. It's inspired by bands like Ween, and explores things like queer relationships (between a Moose and a Goose) and self love. It's wholesome, fun, and it's actually very good music. She has been teaching children guitar, voice, and ukulele to some of the most talented kids in the SF Bay Area for several years, and this is a labor of love and culmination of her experience.
I'm just trying to get the word out because it's great! I hope you enjoy it! Check the link below, you can preview a lot of the music for free :)
I'm a part of a research group that is being conducted in the Department of Social Sciences (Anthropology and Geography) at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. The research that's being conducted is a research project on Social Media and Mothering. The purpose of the study is to investigate the trends of mothers through social media platforms and the ways in which they share their lives and families through these platforms. More specifically, the research will investigate the causes and outcomes of motherhood among women’s social networks and within their social media platforms.
I would appreciate it if you took part of the research by answering a survey the research group has put together:
Here's the link to the survey!
I appreciate your time and contribution to this up and coming research about social media!
Hi, i'm a college student studying advertising, and i'm looking for parents to fill out a survey. For an assignment in one of my classes, I have to make an ad campaign that advocates for a cause, and I chose "prescription drug abuse among teens and young adults". I would really appreciate it if some of the parents on this sub reddit could fill out my survey. It's only 10 questions and shouldn't take long, but I imagine being a parent is time consuming, so I completely understand if your too busy. Also you don't have to have a teenager or a young adult child, as long as you have children it's okay :). Thank you.
My daughter is really into the 1970's comic "Elfquest" free online viewing if you search it. She wants a bow and arrow, obstacle course, forest wilderness elf themed 8th birthday party. I am ALL IN! Getting a campsite at local lake, making props etc. This sounds awesome. But.....she doesn't want fairies and wings and glitter and all that and most of the girls from school she wants to invite are really into that. Also her school tends to have this "invite the entire class" tradition for birthday parties (!!!!!!) AND her birthday always falls on a long weekend. So the feedback I need: how do I make the theme clear? Should I invite the class knowing many won't be able to come due to long weekend? How can I throw her the best party without disappointing her on her idea? Note: I'm not having the party at our house. I did that last year and don't want that many people here. Her class is 22 kids plus another 10 in a split class of the same grade.
My son is turning 12. After spending hours scouring the Interwebs, I am officially admitting defeat. I am out of ideas, in over my head, and in desperate need of help. Any suggestions???
