Thanks for visiting!
Please read the rules below before contributing. If you have any questions or your post gets caught in the spam filter--please feel free to message the mods.
Political posts and discussions are allowed here, but /r/Alabama is non-partisan. Personal attacks, lies, smears, and ugliness is over the line; the post or comment may be removed, and if there's continuing transgressions, banning may result.
Consider instead /r/AlabamaPolitics, which is specifically set up for the hurl and burl of Alabama politics. Cross-posts to, or from, there are welcome.
To see power outage status updates, please check out Alabama Power Outage Information here.
Be respectful. Please refrain from personal attacks and posting anything racist (this includes images) or prejudicial (incest jokes are old and unfunny).
All submissions should be directly related to Alabama.
Blanket insults and attacks on Alabama and its citizens based on stereotypes and caricatures is not allowed. This does not preclude criticism--even fierce criticism--of the state, its people, and its policies; only that which is blatantly insulting and caricatures the state in an effort to gin up outrage and lulz.
Not Safe For Work content is not allowed on r/alabama. This includes graphic images or descriptions of violence, sexual content, and nudity. Exceptions include: images/videos of an Alabama disaster, like tornado footage; and newsworthy footage/images of violence that are marked NSFW and censored if possible.
Limit re-posting. Posting differing views of a topic is fine. If a submission is too similar to another existing thread, it may be removed. Those types of posts should be made as comments to the existing thread.
Direct solicitation is not allowed. This includes political solicitation (donate to my campaign!) and economic solicitation (come to my restaurant for 50% off!). Exceptions include information about a local event like a music festival, personal blogs that do not solicit products or services, and advertisement of petitions for Alabama-specific issues.
Editorializing linked post titles is not allowed. When linking to articles from outside reddit, try to keep post titles as close as possible to the original source. Adding detail or context is allowed, as long as it does not fundamental change the original title or adds opinion or commentary not intended by the author. Do not post links to articles as a text post without additional commentary or context.
No false or misleading information. Categorically false or misleading information is not allowed. This is not to limit discussion on things that may be uncertain, but rather to prevent the propagation of demonstrably untrue information from bad-faith actors.

Thos is the first timw I'm doing anything like this and the state government revenue website is unclear on ehat to do in my situation.
I bought a car in cash from Florida. I have the old title, bill of sale (which is written on a normal sheet of lined paper idk if that's a problem), I also just got insurance for it and I am looking to get it registered and the title in my name. The registration process seems simple enough but it's mainly unclear about the title part. I have no idea how to go about it. I also need to have this car registered ASAP as I need to drive it regularly for work. Any advice is appreciated
Santikos has regular open caption (on-screen subtitles) screenings at the Santikos Amstar Alabaster and the Santikos Amstar Oxford theaters. The open caption screenings are limited and listed separately. For example, this week the open caption screenings of Moana 2 are on December 3 or 4.
Open captions are not just for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Open captions can also help people with autism, attention deficit disorder, auditory processing disorder, aphasia, kids learning to read, adults learning English as a second language, and nose sensitive. Some people have difficulty understanding actors voices or accents. And many young people just like captions.
(Why are we posting this? We are posting this to increase awareness because although Santikos has had these open caption screenings for a long time now, many people who could benefit or who want captions, don't know about them. Also, Santikos does not promote its open caption screenings much on social media, so we have to. )
We checked and found these dates and times for open caption Moana 2 screenings this week:
Santikos Alabaster: Tomorrow, December 3, 7:45 pm; December 4, 2:40 pm
Santikos Oxford: Tomorrow, December 3, 12:00 pm; December 3, 2:15 pm; December 4, 12:00 pm; December 4, 2:15 pm
I never been. I'm wondering do people like it better than Sam's or Costco
I ordered my license plate online the 20th and still haven’t received it. Should I be concerned or is it likely because of the holidays? I didn’t get it personalized so that shouldn’t be holding it up.
They're back at it, y'all. I encourage anyone who is a resident and/or library card holder with the Fairhope Library to show your support for our amazing library and staff.
Beautiful and I’m from The Birmingham area !
I travelling with a Cajun friend from south Louisiana to Mobile, Alabama. When we get together, we normally eat a sack of oysters.
We were going to get some oysters in Louisiana, but we were talking about it and we were not sure if Mobile would have oysters that were as good or even better than the ones in Louisiana.
Can we get a sack of really good local Alabama oysters in or around Mobile?

I already have a Star ID license and I need to renew it. I've been looking online to see what I need to renew this and I'm trying to discern whether renewal needs all the same documents as if I were getting a new one. Are they the same requirements or can it be renewed without all the required documents for getting the initial Star Drivers License?
Edit: I cannot renew online because I have to get a new picture taken.
I plan on writing about this Senate Race but I haven't found many in-depth/reputable sources for info on the race. If anyone could help out, that'd be wonderful!

This is the first time I've seen a black bear anywhere near me. My kids live in Sumiton
I’m looking to get an old tattoo covered/redone and I would like to research for some artists out there that are good at doing this kind of work. I’m will to travel around the states like Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia. If they have insta and I can see their work, that’s even better. I’d appreciate any tips! Thank you in advance!
I renewed my license online on nov 6th and said it was mailed on the 11th. I haven’t gotten it yet. I do live in student apartments for college and all mail goes through the university’s mail hub first. Last year when I changed my address to here it only took around 7 days to get mailed. I will be needing it by the 16th of December as I have a big trip. If I don’t receive it soon would it be worth getting a PO Box for it to be sent to or has mail been delayed recently in AL?
Hi we are currently looking for a home near Birmingham and was told about the sterling in odenville and the homes are made by d r Hortons. From my understanding they have really mixed reviews so I was curious if anyone had opinions or experiences with them or that area I’m not from Alabama.
Are they really testing stuff at 12am on the arsenal in huntsville right now? They've been doing this for the past few months at horrible times
Hey! I filed for unemployment three weeks ago and nothing yet. At this point I’m crying daily as bills as piling up and I can’t pay them. I keep calling and they just tell me to look online which hasn’t updated since day 1. Has anyone else had this problem?
