Is anyone else kind of annoyed how fast Elsa moved on from Ennis? I imagine a couple of weeks had pass since his death on the next episode, but she full on flirts with another guy. Which leaves me wondering how much time had passed, since she “loved him”? Then I think in that same episode she’s eyeing the Native American dude.

Itinerary review

Arriving 6/19 at Jackson Hole airport 2:00pm Staying in Jackson that night

6/20 - drive Yellowstone Loop to Gardiner Stay in Gardiner from 6/20-6/24

6/24 - drive to West Yellowstone Stay in West Yellowstone 6/24-6/26

Flight departs Jackson Hole on 6/26 around 3:00pm

This is my mom’s dream trip. She’s 62 and not great at hiking but okay at high elevations for extended periods of time. She really wants to see Lamar Valley and we also want to see the popular tourist attractions. Is this a good plan? Should we stay longer in West Yellowstone? Any tips on easy hikes for us to see some views?

Edit: This is for this year, I already have rooms booked and a car rented.

Guided Camping Tour Recommendations? 3-4 Days

Hi All,

Three of us are looking for a guided camping tour in Yellowstone. This will be our first visit so we intend to see the most 'classic' highlights. We are thinking a 3-4 day trip and hope to find a tour that covers all logistics.

I searched on Google and saw quite a few companies, however very hard to differentiate them. Any recommendations will be appreciated!

Thank you:)

Visiting March 16th for a day trip, what to do?

Hi y'all! Me and a friend are gonna be visiting Yellowstone for the 1st time on a day trip this Saturday the 16th as we're in the area and off from work, and we don't know the next time we'll have this opportunity. I know March isn't the best time to visit and there won't be much open, but I was still wondering what there was to do as I tried looking it up and was just left confused. Any help/suggestions? Thank you!

Microwaves

When I was at the Grand Canyon recently, our rooms didn’t have microwaves, but the lodge/tavern did, and we were able to heat up our meals in the dining hall. Is there anything like this near Grant Village?

Camping

We are planning on doing yellowstone in summer of 2025. Wife and 2 boys. My wife has health conditions that having some sort of electricity a necessity. What is the best campground and any tips/tricks to booking.

Edit. We have our own 25 ft camper we are planning to bring. We are veteran campers just never been west, only in the midwest.

camping with an RV and 2 teens

We have a 25' hard sided trailer (no slides) that we pull with a Tahoe, so we're probably 45 feet long total. We have 2 girls, will be 12.5 and newly 16 (both relatively lazy--don't particularly enjoy hiking and hate being in the heat. love the A/C and their iPads). We're planning a trip to Yellowstone late June and I needed to book a campsite yesterday but my anxiety is getting the best of me. I don't even know where to start, but I think we'd do 2 nights either in the park or just outside of it since we need electricity (prefer 30amp). I know my options are very limited since I waited so long. We'd be coming through Gardiner, then plan on heading down towards Jackons/Grand Tetons for another 2 nights before we head back east towards home.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I know that I don't have a lot of choices and I should have made reservations a long time ago.

Serving at YNP(lake Yellowstone hotel) or Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge

Hey all, So I’ve gotten 2 offer letters one for YellowStone at Lake Yellowstone hotel. Seems I may have been duked with that choice, in the interview I had the option of serving at ol faithful inn or lake Yellowstone hotel, but the interviewer said LYH was more of a fine dining (so I’m thinking more money) but many people here seem to say Ol faithful inn would have been more profitable.

Anyways I keep hearing horrendous things about low tips, long hours and garbage food. I was promised 2 consecutive days off in YNP but others seem to have very diff experiences, Wonder if this is another troll

The lodge job is at Talkeetna Alaskan lodge, no food provided 300/$ 4 man bunked rooms, 2 rooms per apt 1 small shower, 1 toilet, 1 kitchen per 8 dude apt.

What do yall think is the better option? Really having a hard time weighing pros/cons.

I also don’t have a car so it would seem like being at the NP there’d be more shuttle Opportunities, as opposed to being out in the middle of nowhere.

Not to mention the road to Denali is closed this year, really wanted to get into the BackCountry and do some backpacking

Trip planning

I’m sure this is talked about a lot, but I’m curious. We are thinking about road tripping/truck camping our way out to Yellowstone. We figured we would have 3-4 days dedicated to the area, but would love at least one day/night of boondocking into the national forest. We’ll be camping in the national forest and traveling into the park every day. Anybody do this and have helpful advice on must see sights, but things to pair each day to limit unnecessary travel, etc? Anything you’d leave out on a park visit and supplement with national forest lands? Any (kind) comments and info appreciated!

Working at Xanterra Yellowstone. Advice needed!

Hoping to make it out to Yellowstone soon and would love some advice I wasn't quite able to find elsewhere on the sub.

I'm an experienced bartender/bar manager from New York who decided to leave the city while fulfilling my new year's resolution of getting outside and connecting more with nature. Initially landed an interview to be in F&B management with Xanterra but ultimately decided on bartending after hearing horror stories about the hours of salaried employees. For all you F&B ppl; what are the best locations to work at both financially and operationally?(heard it's lake or OF) Is there anything you wish you could do over?

Thanks for any advice 🙏🏽

How Many Days in Yellowstone/Bozeman?

Hi! Planning a trip for a group 5 to Yellowstone in August. We are thinking of flying into Bozeman and potentially spending a couple days there + Big Sky, but is it worth it? What types of things are there to do? Any hidden areas around either city we shouldn't miss? From there, we were considering just staying in West Yellowstone for the entirety of the trip and using that as our home base as we enter the park every day. A few in our group are not huge on hiking, so thinking most of the trip would lean towards sight-seeing with a few hikes. We wanted to add on Grand Teton as well but lodging there is looking very pricey and we don't want the trip to feel rushed. Any tips for a first-timer would be awesome! Dates we are looking at are August 19-26, Monday to Monday.

Thank You All, but One More Question

Sorry for posting two in one day, but I’m a stupid 18 year old who’s never camped, hiked, or really road tripped outside of work. A lot of the recommendations for the trip have been great, but I still am unsure about some things.

Many of you say book now in case it fills up. I found a time period that works in August at the Lake Lodges. Is this a worthy place to stay? Or would it be better to stay outside Yellowstone. Or should my girlfriend and I camp somewhere? I’ve never camped and I don’t know what gear or equipment would be needed. I’m sort of a home body trying to live outside the comfort zone.

Also, if we were to stay outside the park, at Cody or Gardinier (not sure how to spell), would I need to buy a pass for each day we visit? I know parking lasts a week, but does exploring? If you have any advice for us, that would be amazing!

(Should I book the Lake Lodge right now? Down payment of $250)

Please Help Plan My Trip

My girlfriend is visiting this summer (July and early August) from overseas. She’s been dying to see Yellowstone and Old Faithful. I’m not sure about the national park at all, and I always thought it was in southeast Wyoming… I live in southeastern Nebraska, and I want to drive there. I’ve never been on a road trip, let alone drove that far myself. I haven’t a clue where to stay, if camping is an option, what to do, what to see, etc. Please help!!! I don’t want to disappoint my girlfriend, but I don’t want to spend crazy amounts either. I want to spend I think a week (is that too long? Too short?)

Yellowstone 3-day itinerary in June

Heading to YS NP first week of June for 3 days with parents. Our stay is just outside the West Yellowstone entrance. We are not planning to do any hikes as we have older parents with us.

Can people share their itinerary they might have followed right before the peak season? Any other tips/tricks? Greatly appreciate any pointers.

Planning to tent camp from June 22-29th with my wife and daughter. Where do you suggest? Showers are a huge plus. Would be driving down from northern Canada.

We've camped the Alberta rockies a few times and are prepared for cooler weather regardless (hopefully no snow though).

Any suggestions for somewhere quiet and with a decent amount of privacy? Thanks for any info.

A baseball field out in the woods in the Upper Geyser Basin area of the park

This is a baseball diamond for the employees that work in the park. Every year a group of park employees get together and play a softball tournament here.

How safe is it to walk around Madison Campground at night?

I'm going to Yellowstone mid May and have 3 nights at Madison Campground. I'm very interested in taking milky way photos but I've heard that it can be dangerous to drive around the park at night.

So i was wondering how safe is it to walk around the campground area taking shots and timelapses for a couple of hours?

Early April Trip

Hi All, Heading over from Australia and can potentially be in the Yellowstone area from the end of March for a week. (Would love to make it work if possible!) Is there anything at all open then or any tours that run? They all seem to end early March and not start up again till end of April? Have 2 adults and 3 kids (youngest is 7)

May Trip

My wife and I are flying into Bozeman around May 18th. We are wanting to go to Yellowstone and we don’t want to rent a car. Is there public transportation outside of Uber/Lyft that makes that drive? A shuttle or something? Can’t imagine an Uber than distance would be cheap. Thanks.

Missing the Yellowstone South Entrance opening by one weekend... is it still worth it to visit Grand Teton?

I stupidly planned an entire trip to Yellowstone/Grand Teton without verifying when the South Entrance opens. Basically I'll be there the first weekend of May when South Entrance typically opens the second weekend. My question is: is it still worth it for me to drive around (driving past West Yellowstone, down 20W, to 32/33E). This will take me ~4hr instead of the original ~2hr direct route. I do plan on staying near Grant Teton for one night. What do you guys think? Is this a stupid plan?

Edit: Wow, thank you SO MUCH to every single person who replied. You guys have convinced me to definitely take the drive to Grand Teton. My doubts have been put to ease, and I cannot wait to see Grand Teton in all its glory.

Advice on Tent Size

We are going to YS in June and have an RV site that will take a 30 foot RV and up to a 12X12 foot tent. We put down for taking two 8X8 foot tents and we ARE NOT taking an RV. But we just upgraded one tent to a Wawona 6 by North Face, which is about 9X10 with a pretty big vestibule (another 4 feet.) Can we use the area that the RV would normally use (and a second small tent)? Thanks

Tours

We will be visiting Yellow for 6 days in this summer. We plan to stay in one centrally located lodging instead of different locations every day. Is this a good idea? Also we plan to explore the park in our rented car but would also like to do a tour or two. Any recommendations for great tours for first timers? We’re not interested in lengthy tours that require more than 1 day commitment or those that include lodging. Thanks for any tips you can offer.

Yellowstone in mid-May

Does anyone have any insight as to what weather/ roads are like typically like in mid-May? My friend and I are planning a 2 night trip to drive through Grand Teton and Yellowstone May 11-13, after spending a few days in Southern Utah but I’ve never been up there that early in the year.

I’m from Salt Lake City, so I’m no stranger to snowy conditions in the mountains but just want to help prepare my friend. I also realize we won’t be able to do much, other than get out at lookouts/ short walks and that’s just fine with us.
