As per title... I have a craving and I feel it will carry over into tomorrow...
Before the Kingdom of Mercia, what's now Worcester and Worcestershire was part of the Hwicce. Does anyone have any cool links, facts or books about the Hwicce because it seems the internet is void of info. Thanks all.
hey everyone I am in search of a new dentist, it has to be nhs as I cannot afford private ones, any ideas? Also I wouldn't mind going around Worcester (Evesham, kidderminster, Bromsgrove etc.) Thank you!!
Just saw roughly 10 buses under police escort driving past The Commandery in town, wondering if anyone knows what's going on there?
Does anyone know hoelw to claim pothole damage on the Worcestershire Council? There was a massive pothole on the A449 between Worcester and Kidderminster that bursted my tyre and messed up the suspension, and I am really annoyed that there isn't an intuitive way to claim the damages.
Hello!
Forgive me for the perhaps unusual request.
I have a habit of buying a pin in every city I visit.
In a few days, I'll be in Worcester (a place I visit often and love), and I absolutely adore your emblem with the three pears.
Do you happen to know if there's a shop in the area that sells a pin featuring the three-pears emblem? I've tried searching for one during my previous visits, but without success.
Thanks so much!
I’m wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of where’s best to go for this… I’m looking to return to work when my son starts nursery so I can only work nursery hours (partner works shifts and no support network to help with childcare).
I went to the job centre and they told me to look for jobs online, I’m looking at recruitment agencies and most seem to be geared towards engineering and factory work, when I can only realistically work 9-5 hours. Before having my son, I spent 15 years working in pub management and I can’t really return to the pub industry.
Are there any agencies that might suit my situation or my work experience? Or any companies that offer training on the job? Or just any other general advice? Thanks in advance!!
Hi! Just a bit of a rant I’m genuinely curious how people socialise here out of school/work especially if u don’t go drink or go clubbing & it’s near impossible to meet anyone else with ‘nerdy’ hobbies, when I don’t think it’s even uncommon anymore to like anime or video games !? Yet I’ve met around 5 people in my life, in this city who have similar hobbies to me 😭
I’ve lived in Worcester my whole life but moved to a bigger city for uni & was at my happiest there, moved back home this summer and had interview after interview for jobs since July, still no luck ! I have a couple friends from highschool but they’re in work or education so never have time to meet up.
There’s not much to do & I spend most of my time just walking around town, sometimes a cafe or library, but it gets so boring and so lonely so quick. I’ve tried using apps to meet people, I’m volunteering & hoped to meet people but there’s no social aspect, everything on eventbrite is expensive and nothing I’d want to attend anyway
How do you meet people!!? 🙀
What's the best place to order a curry from? I feel like the quality dipped several years ago and never came back up. Outside of brum and Lyr Street it's near impossible to find a good curry in the WM anymore, and Worcester is no exception to the disappointment.
So please Reddit, tell me what your favourite curry houses are?
FYI please don't say Ashley's, it's a curry house for people that don't really like curry all that much.
Its my girlfriends birthday on Wednesday and she loves a carvery.
I've had a table booked for 15 people at The Royal Oak in Broadwas (her favourite) for a couple of weeks but unfortunately they've just posted to their facebook that the owner very sadly suddenly passed away(RIP). Due to his passing they are unsure of their ability to trade, legally.
They've yet to confirm if they are going to cancel my booking but I feel the need to have a backup plan.
Does anybody know of anywhere nearby that does a 'buffet style' carvery on a weekday?
Just looking to get into playing some football in and around Worcester! Any help appreciated 🫶
Does anyone know where a good, safe place but with not too many people is in the main Worcester city centre area for jogging now it's dark earlier?
For example, does anyone know if pitchcroft is lit at night or is it pitch black?
Thanks in advance!
Can anyone recommend a good personal trainer in worcester?
I live just south of Worcester and I’m getting quite a bit of snow! It’s like 0 degrees!
Hi all, I've lived in Worcester for about five years now and my partner and I are looking to buy our first house here. We haven't got the biggest budget, but have managed to find a number of suitable options for a home to start our family in.
This being said, areas such and Ronkswood and Brickfields offer quite a bit more space for our money, but I have heard the areas have a bit of a reputation. Tonight we are looking at a house in Barbourne, which is lovely and has the same amount of rooms, but is generally smaller. I'm unsure weather to go for the smaller house in the typically 'nice' area, or the larger house in a 'bad' area.
Been as I'm not exactly local, I would like some input from the wider worcester community. Thank you!
We’ve reached a point in life where we feel we need a cleaner. Does anyone have recommendations of a good one? I’d rather pay someone directly rather than paying for a franchise and franchisee to get a cut
Thanks
Are there any good places/nail artists that do Russian manicure in Worcester?
Hi, to put it incredibly bluntly and to leave out a lot of stuff, a few days ago my husband and I (we've been together 12y) were on holiday together and in the middle of the night he told me he was going for a walk, disappeared for ten hours (I was calling the german police and looking for his body under train stations etc) until he messaged me saying he had taken a bus to Poland. A few hours after that it transpired that he had tried to kill himself.
As one might imagine I am not coping with everything that happened in those 24h and was wondering if anyone was aware of anything support-y that would be relevant? He's not an addict and we have no kids and we are not over 60 so that rules a lot of stuff out
Hello all,
I am a current first year, but am starting to look for 2nd year accommodation, I am looking for a studio type flat, or a cheap ish apartment located in the city (not outskirts of the city)
I walk everywhere and do not drive, I’m a student so big budget is off the table, I have had very bad experiences living with people in the past so am definitely looking for a self contained space.
What is the recommendations and or best place to look?
Has anyone visited recently, and if so, what was it like? We've typically used Vue for the last 7/8+ years, because of how much nicer the screens and seats are.
What is it like at the Odeon? Are the screens and seats still a bit naff? I know I could try for my self, but if I'm going to spend upwards of £30 for experience, I'd like to enjoy it :)
Edit: Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply! General consensus is:
Pros - Cheap, Staff are lovely, often quiet
Cons - Screens are small, picture quality is poor, sound is bad, food is bad, in-screen experience is dated/seats are worn
It’s in the hospital. If I get the job offer, would you recommend I (m22) move here? In terms of safety (I’m from a nice ish area but im also from Manchester so I can handle some bad areas but i prefer not to live in them), fun and amenities (again from Manchester where you can get anything and do pretty much anything, I don’t expect that level in Worcester but I like an interesting artisan shop and market and trendy cafe every now and then), transport links from the centre to the hospital and housing prices / prices in general?
Is there a shop that sells spicy sauces and flakes in Worcester?
Does anybody know any good cafes?
What is the likelihood of actually being able to find a property that allows pets and is affordable? Or is something that allows pets and is affordable going to be almost impossible to find. I don't want to be getting rid of my cat anytime soon.
Thanks, I'm stressed
