Yes. I won this years football fantasy and promised a friend that I would take the winnings and buy a good bottle of bourbon. I’d love to get get some Pappy but I also do not want to mortgage my house for it (I know me and everyone else).
Anyway. I’d like to find a legit place, either in the Bay Area or California or online that is going to be reasonably priced for allocated bourbons. I found some places online but either prices are too good to be true or just scans. I don’t know where to trust.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have an opportunity to get some allocation goodies.
Only question for anyone is what are your top 3 choices if you could pick?
Toda
Found a $28 EC gift set and a $65 barrel proof wheeter
Just got this as a gift. Has anyone tried this yet?
Scored this bottle from a local store. Owner knows my friend very well and sold it to me for $44. Felt like that was a steal of a deal.
JD Barrel Proof and Emerald Giant. Found a Coy Hill Rye yesterday. That JD is straight fuel nose freshly uncorked. Getting more toffee / Carmel and grain from emerald giant. What are you sipping on tonight?
Was checking out with the cask strength single barrel trails end and saw shop owner handing out some EHT. Asked about the BP and it was $150 out the door.
Hell if a week.
I’ve heard many great things about Still Austin, and today as I was browsing, I came across this limited release. The last one sitting on the shelf so of course I snagged it up!
Sorry for the sacrilegious question but could someone breakdown what it is? My wife thinks I’ll like it cuz I drink once in awhile and wants to go in June/July for a long weekend.
Is it just the all the distilleries in close proximity? Obviously there are tours to see how it’s made but I’d think they are all pretty similar. Can you get hard to finds? Is it cheaper than going to my local (well stocked) liqueur store? People talk about reservations, bus tours, etc. Never did a wine thing (don’t like it) so I don’t know what to compare it to-someone said it’s not even close anyway. Thanks.
These bad boys never steer me wrong. No shame but Old Charter 8 is my absolute go to. Has just the right amount of burn blended with a caramel sweetness.
Friends finished dry January. Had multiple 4roses and Peerless. Some Gold Blanton's. Checking what else will open. Maybe purple Willett.
Been hunting a Taylor single barrel for a while. Happy to find it today.
I have a nice selection of American whiskeys. A friend has started getting more interested in whiskey. I’d like to fill some sample bottles and put them in a nice box. The boxes I’m finding online have already filled bottles in them. Anyone done something similar? What did you use?
I saw a bottle of Cream of Kentucky SB for $69 while a little out of town yesterday. Have never seen anything of their offerings in my usual area. I have seen posts on here but didn’t read much into them. Same shop stopped me as I was leaving to tell me they had Eagle Rare for $85 and I politely declined. I never see that near retail.
Review #1 - Jack Daniels bonded rye Price: $36.99 ABV: 50% - 100 proof
Neat in Glencairn, rested 10 minutes
Nose: sweet vanilla, corn, light floral and herbs/rye. Reminds me of a sweet banana bread using artificial vanilla
Palate: thin consistency, drinks easier than other 100 proof offerings. Barrel char, with a little sweet smoke. Sweet vanilla and bitter cola, on the back of the palate rye spice and herbs like mint and rosemary. After a few more sips more vanilla and banana flavors.
Rating and conclusion: solid 7 Very well, balanced with a great sweet and herbal taste definitely gets some of that Jack Daniels banana taste. Drinks extremely easy for a rye, and makes a great after meal sip. Would recommend
Quick question. I have a bottle of GTS that I have unopened and has been in a box on the floor of my closet for maybe 8-10 months. I live in Canada and I noticed that the bottle was cool to the touch. I have since moved it to a higher place in the closet where the other bottles appear less cold. I'm wondering if the time it spent on the floor will ruin the taste when opened or if it's not a concern. Thanks!
Grabbed just one of each. Couldn’t pass these up for 375ml prices! Found in Lafayette, IN.
$230 OTD.
Pulled this bottle out today. Had first pour about a year ago or so. I keep all my bottles in a closet near the kitchen and their all upright
Got this from a friend about 15 years ago, and just found it while clearing out a closet. He told me at the time it didn't taste very good so I never opened it. There's not much info online about it, and the label lists 75% cane, 20% grain, & 5% rye so I assume it tastes completely unlike any of their current products. Just posting here to see if anyone has tried it or knows any of the history behind it.
$91 otd. Been wanting to try so jumped on it.
