r/WeatherGifs has re-opened

Hey /r/WeatherGifs subscriber -

Submissions to this subreddit were restricted in July of 2023 during the API crisis.

During that time, we looked at the state of the subreddit and agreed it had strayed from its original focus on actual weather videos. Submissions of radar maps and satellite imagery and blogs were being posted to the sub. So with the API issue mentioned above, and the submissions issues, we closed the subreddit to new content. We've now reopened the subreddit to submissions, but with some updated rules:

  1. Videos of actual weather only

No radar content, no CGI, no animations, no articles. Real weather videos only

  1. Direct link to media required

No crossposts from other subs, links to news articles or anywhere on reddit.

  1. Regarding Reposts

We reserve the right to remove any submission at any time. Please avoid common reposts.

  1. Be nice

Please follow proper reddiquette and site rules. Racism or hate will result in an immediate ban.

The most important update is regarding rule 1: Videos of actual weather only. This type of content is generally described as a video taken by a human of weather using a video device. We no longer support the submission of computer-generated radar or satellite content (and similar types of content).
