Waterfox 6.5.2 changes theme upon launch/restart

I've recently updated to 6.5.2 on Linux Mint 21.3 via u/Venghan's PPA.
Theme currently set to System - Auto 1.3 (but set theme doesn't matter) and upon launch I have to disable then enable the theme to remove the active tab border/brighter highlight and other miscellaneous decorations.

Is this a known issue/bug? Anyone know a fix?
Also, I'm back to using userChrome.css to remove UI elements such as the Open Application menu (upper right three horizontal lines) and the close tab icons because the checkbox isn't working in settings menu either.

Every time I update Waterfox on Linux it doesn't start anymore.

As the title says. Had to reinstall Waterfox once because of a no-start after Waterfox update. Now, Waterfox is updated again and AGAIN it does not start. This is getting tedious. Running Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS x86_64 with Kernel 5.15.0-126-generic.

Edit: So I tried adding the library path as u/aseiden suggested -but alas- to no avail. I then downloaded the new version and deleted the old directory, expecting to set everything up again. Moved the new directory into the old location and when I started Waterfox everything was the way I left it behind.

Thanks to everyone trying to fix my problem. It is much appreciated!

Page loading issue

Is there a way to figure out why ads/background scripts aren't loading on this page? It doesn't seem to have anything to do with extensions or any change in settings that I did: https://www.closerweekly.com/posts/why-tom-selleck-threw-a-chicken-cutlet-across-the-blue-bloods-set/

Status bar no longer works

i just updated to 6.5.2 on NixOS Linux AMD64.

status bar shows a solid white bar, and no longer shows link hover previews or zoom level.

status bar option in customization page shows "Status Bar (NULL)"

is there a way to fix this?

Pop-ups?

Since the last update (yesterday) I now get these annoying popup notifications for antivirus coming in from the right hand side of the screen. How do I get rid of this?

Really cool browser

Thank you Mr.Alex for your wonderful work.

Since archlinux broke firefox's playback on a website, I have been using a chromium based browser(with no hardware decoding features). Although flatpak of firefox worked it did not integrate to my system very well or needed too much configuration to get basic stuffs done (i.e, opening default XDG applications from the flatpak browser and more).

This is the only ff-based browser I found on the internet which doesn't have this bug. And the UI is superb as well.

I cannot believe this single bug has been there in fedora, archlinux and other browsers since 1+ years. I know this is a packaging related bug but there are literally so many year old bug reports on this on bugzilla.

Waterfox portable on ubuntu not working strange but solved

I use Waterfox not installed on Ubuntu as second browser, it happened many times when I shut down without closing the browser wont start, even in terminal the command is not recognized.

on file property every thing seems normal, but no response and the terminal said no such command!

As I said it happened many times, I researched without vain, and downloaded new instance, today I opened the update folder, found [89MB] in 3 files in folder named [0] deleted them and the browser started normally.

I don't understand, why or how, but this was the solution if anyone have the same problem.

Update to Waterfox 6.5.2 this morning.

After the update, Waterfox would not start. Had to use an alternate browser to download 6.5.2. unpack it and replace the contents of my Waterfox directory, then all OK. Using Linux Mint Cinnamon 21.2.

Windows 11 issue.

Hi all, so I got a new windows 11 laptop, and tried to install waterfox, but I'm getting issues when I try and sign in. Stock waterfox doesn't cause any issue, however as soon as I try and sign in eats CPU and crashes when I start to use it. I thought it might be an extension, but it's doing the same thing it even if all my extensions are disabled (do they need to be uninstalled or is disabled enough?) Everything is fine on my Windows 10 machine. I noticed another post here about it constantly syncing on windows 11, and come to think of it it was constantly syncing with me too so not sure if that's linked and anything to do with it?

Any ideas? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Waterfox won't sync after windows 11 reinstall

Good evening. I had to reinstall my windows 11 to troubleshoot some graphic card driver errors, but after installing Waterfox again it is stuck on "Syncing..." but not really doing anything. Neither my History, Bookmarks or Extensions seem to have been downloaded. I have kept the app open for the past hour, but nothing seems to change. And closing and opening it again also showed no response.

No more Plasma integration for Hawkeye build of Waterfox for Linux?

I've been putting off updates for a while, and when I finally let it do so today, I was dismayed to see that the KDE integration (from the OpenSUSE patch set) I had enjoyed with the Hawkeye builds of Firefox seems to be gone from Waterfox 6.5.1 for Linux.

Is this correct? If so, why was it dropped? While Waterfox boasts many advantages over Firefox, this was really the one truly killer feature that Waterfox had over all other Firefox variants, save the official Waterfox build from OpenSUSE itself.

Does Waterfox 6.5.1 support userchrome.css and usercontent.css customizations?

I tried to access this in about:config and enable the stylesheets option. It says True but its grayed out and locked. The profile doesn't show the same css that my FF profile does even after coping the chrome folder from FF profile to waterfox profile folder.

Waterfox takes too long to load cdiscount.com pages!

Hello

since several days waterfox ( 6.5.1 ) takes too long to load cdiscount.com pages!

I've tried loading these same pages on firefox and it's super fast!

I've tried deleting the cache, cookies and history in waterfox but that didn't change anything. The problem is still there: the pages on cdiscount.com are very slow to load.

Can you give me a link so that I can report the problem to the waterfox developers? thanks

Some questions about waterfox

I plan to switch from Firefox because of how resource hungry and buggy it is. Like freezes and loads pages slowly. I have tried to do some research on this browser but either they are like 3-5 years old content or basically brushed off on YouTube.

1- how fast does this get updated? Is it based on ESR or current release? (I mean security is important) I heard the main drawback is that it is lagging behind a lot to current Firefox and people point the security aspect of it.

2- compared to Firefox, do the issue listed above still exist?

3- resource consumption better or worse?

4- is it french XD been seeing a lot of french posts in here?

5- how it fares compared to librewolf? Which is more promoted than waterfox?

Impossible d'accéder à un profil Importer dans le Waterfox d'un autre PC

Bonsoir,

j'ai pour habitude de sauvegarder régulièrement mon profil Waterfox en le récupérant via le chemin suivant :

C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Roaming\Waterfox\Profiles

"C:\Program Files\Waterfox\waterfox.exe" -p

Waterfox vs firefox on android

I like waterfox on desktop because of features like vertical tabs but what are the actual differences on android.

I only noticed that waterfox has a theme system, which i like, but it's a bit undercooked.

Also i heavily prefer the icon of firefox, the waterfox icon's white background is annoying maybe it should be navy or something

Tab Mix Plus (TMP) with WF 6.5.

Just in case anyone else has issues with TMP after updating to Waterfox 6.5.x.

For me after updating WF I had to go into my Add-ons section, click the "..." for TMP and choose updade. Restarted WF. TMP version 1.25.0.

Then I had to go to Help -> More Troubleshooting Information -> Clear startup cache...

Then one more restart of WF and things were working.

Uninstall to update?

Is this normal? i tried to update normally like ive done before but it asked me to install the browser again since G6.5 seemed to be a large update i did so as i told while saving my profile, but i searched and no one seemed to have needed to do this. Some weird stuff happened like having two waterfoxes, one updated, one not updated. but eventually my original waterfox app also seemed to be updated, so i uninstalled the one i had before. Also sometimes waterfox's ram usage skyrockets to more than my device's, dont think it's related and it fixes itself when i restart. thanks in advance.

Waterfox Browser No Longer Connecting

Hello! I posted my issue at "support.mozilla.org" and a respondent suggested this spot instead. In the hopes of getting advice, that's what I'm doing.

My computer is Win 7 (my system info; the same with greater detail). (I see Win 7 has gotten flack in some of the posts here, but this one from "Prominet," who states he is a security expert, feels "Properly configured and secured windows 7 is much, much more secure than windows 10 or 11".. which I found to be very interesting.)

I've been relying on Waterfox (mainly to download videos; it's not the browser I use regularly) for years, and it has never given a problem, far as web access. I have not updated the browser, main reason being my downloading add-on (which happens to be the popular "Video DownloadHelper") behaves in a less preferred way in my other browsers. (I fear an update would put the kibosh on the better way that program functions in Waterfox.)

(I see from some of the posts here that updates sometimes have created even more problems.)

Suddenly Waterfox has become moody. The charming "Hmm. We're having trouble finding that site" message is what I've been dealing with for every visited site:

https://preview.redd.it/g7lvi1g84e1e1.jpg?width=647&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=28f5daf7ee50f69116a2b141ea9d59ba1ee49604

Again, I am hoping the ones reading may have suggestions for me to get my Waterfox back.

I did install a VPN recently (which I don't use), but I don't think that's an issue, nor do I believe it's the firewall. Another point of consideration: Waterfox can access the internet in Safe Mode.

I consulted this handy-dandy page before bothering you:

7 Fixes to Try When Waterfox Is Not Loading Webpages on Windows

  1. Weak internet connection. (Nope.)
  2. Corruption in Waterfox installation files. (This possibility seems remote. After all, it was working well until now. )
  3. Malicious extensions (I have tried disabling all extensions, and there aren't that many.)
  4. Webpages will also fail to load if there's something wrong with the browser's code. (This "code," whatever that is. was working fine for all this time. A quick look-see led to this meaning of "code": "..Code is made from C++ and C. Also javascript, pyhton, ruby, and many other languages." That seems to be a long shot.)

Their recommendations (leaving out the ones that are not relevant):

  1. Update Waterfox. (I'm trying to avoid that. Of course, this might be the solution; however, It's not as though my version is that old and would have stopped working. Of course... who knows.)

(Reading some of the posts here, or at least the aforementioned post with "Prominet," allowed me to learn at least the later updates may not even be compatible with Win 7.)

  1. Check Your DNS (Sounds like a lot of trouble; I'm not technically oriented enough to figure that one out, but don't think this will make a difference in any event, as other browsers present no problem, and WF works in Safe Mode.)

  2. Clear Waterfox Cache and Cookies (I did that.)

  3. Remove Unwanted Extensions (I did that, by disabling the toggles, as suggested.)

  4. Reset Waterfox.

That might be the last resort, and I have the feeling a reset is not going to do the trick. Doing this will get rid of the video downloading extension I'm trying to preserve, and instead I'm hoping one or more experts might come up with another suggestion that will work.

As an additional point, under Waterfox's "Options" > "Network Settings" > "Settings," where the default choice under "Configure Proxy Access to the Internet" is "Use system proxy settings," I fooled around by checking the first two, "No proxy" and "Auto-detect proxy settings for this network," and neither selection did anything. I could not try the remaining choice, "Manual proxy configuration," because I have no idea what figures or numbers to place for that one.

https://preview.redd.it/wqsgdvts6e1e1.jpg?width=764&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0a43586ec19d5faba5aa330bf64133f46ce2f713

It's really odd Waterfox suddenly stopped working; it was so reliable.

I would be very grateful for your help. If anyone is kind enough to offer thoughts and has suggestions, clear directions would be appreciated (I don't pretend to be a computer egghead.) Thank you.

.

Where does Waterfox store Flash save data?

I've been playing some Flash games on the browser, but for the life of me I can't find where their save data is being stored. I can confirm that after I switched the sandbox level to 0, they ARE saving... mostly, but I can't seem to find the location it's in.
