Does anyone know how I can change the Firefox icon from dark to white?
For the last few days, my browser has had intense lag when scrolling sites that have lots of images. I've never had this issue with Firefox before. Anyone else dealing with this recently?
Just wanted to say one big thank you to the whole Firefox team. As a person who loves his privacy,FOSS approach and er friend I cant express how much I appreciate Firefox. Keep up the good work!!!
For the past week, Firefox keeps setting itself as the default PDF handler in Windows. I have gone to about:preferences and set the PDF option to "Use Windows default application" and set it to Edge in Windows 11 Settings, I have also manually set it to Edge in the FF prefs, but within a day it takes over again.
Any ideas how to stop this? FF v132.0 (64-bit)
I have a beefy ass computer and I'm only playing old school runescape so it's not like my computer is running out of resources, but every time I tab into the game the video running on my other monitor drops to a terrible unwatchable framerate, happens on twitch, youtube every video site basically.
I swear it didn't happen until like a week or 2 ago but now it happens basically all the time. On windows 10 if the operating system matters
Decided to try Betterfox and it's amazing!
The only question is how and when to update this config.
If anyone knows, please advise. Thank you
like i tried about:config and about:preferences but it doesn't work, please don't make me use CSS or 9-7 year-old posts that potentially don't work on this version of firefox. i will show you a sample video below
this is just sample footage, you see that new icon? i can't even do anything about it
i tried every technique, but other posts come from entirely different subreddits like edge, opera, brave and vivaldi.
if i can't exactly do anything about it; i will find a brand new browser to use because i'm autistic and this is mentally user-hostile to me.
No matter what setting I enable/disable, every time I start typing into the address bar, the very first suggestion is "Search with Google". I don't want that. I've never wanted that. I should not have to press an extra key to select the ACTUAL LINK I WANT right below it. Even if it's a site I've visited a million times, it ALWAYS wants to suggest I search with Google.
How do I disable this?
I don't want to leave FireFox because it has better privacy than most browsers that I'm willing to try, I'm currently using Brave as my main broswer on my laptop because FireFox uses twice the energy compared to Brave for some reason and other performance issues.
And now I'm getting performance issues on my desktop which has a i7 12700k (overclocked), 48gb of ram, and a stable wifi connection. I'm saying this because when I use FireFox for a few hours, it starts to lag and freeze randomly, only way to fix it was to alt F4 and then open it again.
I like FireFox which is why I don't want to move away from it but if it's starting to become harder to use whenever this happens. So I'm wondering is this some short of setting that I'm messing that's causing this?
I haven't really changed a lot of the settings besides the security ones, I would also like to know if anyone else is experiencing this.
I want to see the DNS over HTTPS requests that my browser makes in my network panel. I use a custom self hosted DNS server and I want to verify the requests and responses, and headers, and other things I have configured.
Any way?
I switched over to Firefox a couple of weeks ago, and about since then I've noticed my ram gets slowly eaten up and never released.
For context, I have 32gb of ram.
These are screenshots taken a few days apart, between restarts, but it's happening consistently.
I also created a memory-report through about:memory, although I'm not sure what to do with it.
I did find a post a few months old about a memory leak, but that same post said it was fixed in126.0.1.
The website works fine, it just won't play any of the content.
Probably started with the recent update but I can't be entirely certain of it.
When I'm scrolling youtube short or twitter videos I will randomly but somewhat frequently get a purple flash box that appears on the video player only. It never happens on any other browser or whenever i'm playing games so its not my gpu (I just finished a 140 hr play through of cyberpunk). It only happens specifically on firefox and I've been experiencing it for around 3-4 months or so.
Anybody know what this could possibly be? Its not like its a big deal or anything but I'm genuinely curious.
I can't figure out why synchronisation is not working. One firefox account, 3 computers, 1 linux fedora 41, 2 windows 11, 1 android 14. Synchronisation is enabled everywhere.
Even with a fresh install (no bookmarks, no history, nothing) whenever you type a word into the search bar, firefox will autocomplete that word into an URL.
For example, if you want to search for "po", firefox autocompletes this to "poa.st" and sends you to that site. this is extremely annoying.
Again, this happens with no history at all on a fresh install, so it's not history-based autocomplete. I've also never even visited "poa.st".
So how do I remove these "promoted sites" from firefox's autocomplete function?
I like to use the sidebar to access history instead of Ctrl + H, which was the default view on my old laptop. But now on my new laptop (using the same Firefox profile that is synced over) the sidebar button defaults to viewing bookmarks instead, requiring extra clicks to view history. I don't see any settings to make it default to history. I've tried searching firefox support and other reddit posts and found no solution.
Switching sidebar to history, closing firefox, and reopening firefox defaults sidebar back to bookmarks. Is there anything in about:config, a userChrome.css code, an extension, a Tampermonkey script, etc. that can change this? I'm on the latest version of firefox.
I've used firefox before, and when I would be redirected to a webpage via another app, for example clicking the online manual in a software, it used to open up a new tab in firefox to display the page. However, for some reason now, it just replaces the current tab that I'm on instead of opening a new one. It's really frustrating. Anyone know how I can change this back?
Hello guys,
This issue started a few days ago, and I have no idea how to solve it.
Basically, everytime I log into any gmail account on Firefox, it instantly log me out of that account, and then I fall on a loop (log in and being logged out). I don't have any option to automatically clear the cookies on and I already tried cleaning the cookies, however without success.
Anyone facing this or know how can I solve it?
I don't like the black background and grey circle around the icon in the most recent update, is there a way to get the old icon? I do not want something that stands out so starkly.
Here's what I tried, watching videos on Google Chrome signed in and signed out both work, on Firefox however, the videos just never load. I tried enabling and disabling hardware acceleration and I have tried clearning cookies for youtube, and the Troubleshoot Mode, nothing works.
Hey everyone,
I have searched the internet for my problem but can't find a solution, so I'm hoping Reddit can help me. For the past 30-60 days, I've had random passwords saved in my Firefox browers just disappear. I bought this computer 3 months ago, transferred over my browser settings and everything worked well. But now I'm getting randomly disappearing passwords from my saved passwords. It's only one or two and literally ones I've used in the past 30 days and even changed and updated a password in one instance. Anyone else experience this or have any ideas what could be causing it?
Please help!
Okay, it's actually a question. Does Firefox mobile /desktop have this feature or are there any plans on doing this one if not? Aside from Dark Reader extension, it would be really nice and convenient to have this built-in feature. Just found DDG Android has this now so it made me wonder.
My question may seem a little bit confusing. But what I'm asking is that: suppose I just played a video on YouTube and minimised ff, then the video keeps playing in the background. Now my question is will it consume the same data as in foreground playing or it will only consume data only for the audio?
This annoying feature (see image) is driving me nuts, when I hover over it it basically tells me what I am doing on my other computer.
How do I disable this feature? I never asked for this type of linking between devices.
