Recently bought a 2015 Veloster for my wife. 160k miles, good condition for 3.5k. It had CEL for catalytic converter. We’re being told that it’s a California version and needs a “special” catalytic converter that is $1,000 more than the one found online. My county doesn’t require emissions as i live in the mountains in Arizona. Do I need the special one? If so, can someone help me find the part online? I’m only finding one & its the normal one.

The other night, I stopped at a gas station for drinks after dropping my girlfriend off from work. When I came back outside, I used the physical key to unlock the door like usual (I got the car a year ago and it didn’t come with a fob, so I’ve been using the key), and it wouldn’t open the door. My roommate brought my spare, we tried WD-40, nada.

I got the car towed by my insurance to my place, and the tow guy helped me get the door open. By the time he let me inside to try to start it, the car wouldn’t start. It won’t react at all to the key, and when I hit the lock/unlock buttons in the car, nothing happens.

We disconnected the battery because the alarm wouldn’t stop, but he didn’t know what to do past that. He thought it might be the security system preventing the car from starting now (this was the third time someone had to locksmith the door), but I’m a bit at a loss now.

Has anyone had this issue, and were you able to get it resolved?

Hey everyone, I’ve got a 2019 VT and was wondering what recommendations you guys have for a catless downpipe. I’ve got a few bolt ons already but would like a catless downpipe as well to get the most power out of the stock motor as possible. So far I’ve got a cold air intake, blow off valve, cat back straight pipe, msd coils and his m45xl spark plugs. I have a few “supporting” mods as well such as motor mounts and short shifter.

I also have a lap3 ecu and plan to send it in for a retune with the new downpipe. Any opinions are appreciated!

Also I have a Tork obd2 tuner I won’t be using if anyone is interested! Not used, I bought it before realizing I have a lap3 tune already. Paid for all the add ons and I’m willing to take a bit of a loss on it if anyone would want it! Never used brand new

EDIT: I do not care about the noise, I do not care about the extra gas consumption, I do not care about the smell either. I just need recommendations on a good catless downpipe.

Anyone had issues with fuel running rich? I think that’s where my problem is coming from. Spark plugs are toast and have a Ashe type look on the tips. And I loose oil fast. About a QT or two every two weeks sometimes a little longer. I have no leaks. It’s burning it. I do have a tune for pops and bangs and tuned to 93 oct. Was wondering if tune has fuel to rich.

Had this come up. Anyone got any ideas?

Sorry if I'm going about this the wrong way but I was wondering if anyone might know about an issue I've been having. I have a 2012 Veloster non turbo... about 105,000 miles. The past month or so I've been having an issue where it takes a long time to start the car and when it finally starts I put it into drive or reverse and it goes no where the engine just revs. I also noticed the rpms aren't registering either when this happens. I'd say it happened 1 time a month ago and now the past 2 days I haven't been able to drive it because of that so I was just hoping someone might know what this could be. Thank you!

I have a 2013 VT and would like to add a nice rumble to my car and increase performance if possible on a budget. The full Catback systems sound nice but are quite expensive. I tried searching for just an aftermarket muffler but couldn’t really find one. Would just changing the stock muffler give it a louder sound and if so, any recommendations on one?

I read through a lot of posts here, and I’m still undecided.

I currently own a 2019 Kia Soul with 37k miles on it. Nothing is wrong with the car, but I’m just not “feeling it” anymore. Obviously the Kia Boys have me worried, and I know switching to a Hyundai doesn’t remedy that situation.

The Veloster I’m looking at is a 2017 base with 58k miles on it for $10,980. It has had 2 owners, and the second owner sucked at driving because they were in two minor fender benders with damage to the front passenger side. I’ve looked at the pictures the dealer has provided and it looks like the damage was repaired.

I live in NE Ohio, so snow driving is inevitable. I drive about 16 miles every weekday, basic suburban stop and go.

Biggest reasons for me switching would be the lower monthly payment (I still owe on the Soul but would still get a decent trade-in value and I got pre-qualified for financing), and I’ve always loved how the Veloster looks.

Am I foolish for wanting to do this switch? Or is it just kind of an equal, lateral move?

I recently got the po336 code and swapped out the sensor and let it idle after and was still in limp mode, Thought the new sensor was bad so I got another more expensive one and swapped out again ,still stuck in limp mode
Both times battery was disconnected and I’ve let it idle significantly to relearn yet no solution. Any recommendations?

At the dealer now. They are having me sign a $190 diagnostic estimate in case Hyundai denies extended warranty coverage to clockspring.

I'm looking at a 2016 Turbo Rally Edition. Anyone know of any frequent issues with these? I know I'm buying used so there will always be something. I'm hoping the fact that it's manual helps its life span.
