Hey folks I know this is going to sound incredibly silly but I recently read through the first two or so chapters of Uzumaki. Had to put it down and started feeling uneasy. I didn't read through the rest of it but I did see what the ending was about. Which was the usual on brand for Ito style ending.
I'm usually not one to get upset by body horror but something about this one really stuck with me and spirals kind of creep me out. I can't get some of the imagery out of my mind and I'm waking up/dealing with some intense panic attacks. I think I traumatized myself? Will this feeling subside?
This feels really stupid to say out loud given how much I adore Ito's work. Have read through HellStar Remina, Gyo, and many of his short stories. I've even watched the (slightly goofy more than unsettling) Netflix adaptations. On the outside the concepts seem outlandishly silly even while the pages are filled with the brilliant yet unsettling drawings of a master of horror.
Do you all have any suggestions and/or similar experiences with Ito's work?
Last we see him, Kirie chases him away down the cliffside next to the town.
You think he’s still living in the forest or something?
After the town turns into the row-house spiral and everyone gets drawn into the staircase, is Snail brother still outside, around the shore/ forrest?
Perhaps the effects of the spiral wear off for a couple hundred years until the cycle begins again. And after the spiral wears off, perhaps the survival snail-people are turned back human. (Or maybe they just die)
Really hope they make all the hospital scene, and really emphasize the main character love relationship. IMO her love relationship really set the tone and make the story more tragic. Love it!
I loved every chapter of Uzumaki from start to finish, so I'm naturally very excited for the anime adaptation. I heard that it will only be 4 episodes long though, which is very worrying. It sounds like they will have to cut a lot of chapters or make it incredibly rushed to adapt it within 80 - 90 minutes.
I would hate for such an amazing manga to get a bad adaptation, especially after taking so long to come out.
I revently noticed that my dog's fur is growing in a spiral shape. Should i be concerned?
He was imune so the spiral so it needed something to make him go down and succumb to it. So it used Kirie to do it.
Idk if its a novel idea, but what are your thoughts?
My niece plays resident evil remakes, so I think its fine. It's her mom that may have a problem and if she does then I won't. But given that she plays resident evil, it's okay then, right?
I just went onto the Milan Records Instagram page and they just posted a teaser of the Uzumaki record. Could Adult Swim be going to release the series soon if we've already got incoming merch?
What happened there?
I kinda wanna redraw it because my art style and art skills have changed so much since I drew this
Colin Stetson also did the soundtrack to Hereditary. I don't know why it took me so long to learn this, but I am insanely hyped.
Yooo all... I just completed Uzumaki and am I the only one who thinks and exited for anime version of Uzumaki?? The scenes in the manga gave me chills no doubt but ig with dialogues and bgm it will feel more horror what is your opinion?? I liked manga too it's great
Studio probably played with the spirals to much to make the anime and they're all gone. Haha but for real hope we hear something soon
I made uzumaki nails. Please rate them out of 10?
I'm afraid i will forgot about this long awaited anime, and will never see it when it released. So how can i get updated about it or read the news?
Can i just use reddit !reminder or something to get updated?
Spoilers.
So just finished the Manga and loved it. However I felt it was definitely stronger in the first half, I really enjoyed how they felt like short stories that would all come together in the end. So I have a question about the ending.... If Kirie is the one telling the story and perishes at the end undneath the town, how does she get her story out? Or does the story spiral back to the beginning again some how and she gets to tell it? It's sending me in a spiral just thinking about it.
Dawn Chorus by thom yorke would be a perfect ending song for the Uzumaki anime IMO. The ending of Kirie and Shuichi holding each other in the spiral city goes perfectly with the sound and vibe of the song. Not to mention how Thom mentions spiral patterns, vortex’s, and chimney pots in the song. It feels like it fits perfectly.
Did the anime get cancelled or What?
