/r/ULL
Welcome to /r/ULL, but the subreddit for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has moved to /r/ragincajuns.
Come visit!
/r/ULL
So a week or so ago, after some mod discussion, we posted here about moving the sub to a new location based on all of the name controversy that ULL gets.
So first thing's first - the results of the poll.
/r/ULL was the most disliked name of the three options with 40.9% of people voting it their least favorite. /r/RaginCajuns came in first place for favorite subreddit name with 59.1% of the vote. Below's a table with Favorite / Least Favorite vote breakdown.
Sub Name | Favorite Vote % | Least Favorite Vote % |
---|---|---|
/r/RaginCajuns | 59.1% | 22.7% |
/r/agincajuns | 22.7% | 36.4% |
r/ULL | 18.2% | 40.9% |
In the end, /r/RaginCajuns won by a pretty overwhelming margin.
The mods and I have gone ahead and set up everything over on that sub and it's officially open for business.
We'd ask that everyone go ahead and subscribe / start posting on that sub. We're going to leave /r/ULL open for the time being so that everyone can look up or comment on recent posts.
Please be aware new posts on /r/ULL will be removed going forward. Please post all new content on /r/RaginCajuns
Eventually the goal is to turn /r/ULL into a redirect but that will happen later down the road.
We appreciate everyone being cooperative with the move. If anyone has questions or concerns please let myself and/or the rest of the mods know.
Please go out and vote-- your vote is important!

Personally I think it's great, although it really is hard to discern what it is at first glance.
Recently, as some may be aware, there's been a renewed push to brand our university as The University of Louisiana. After a post from a few days ago about news that the Sun Belt and other member schools are finally onboard with calling us University of Louisiana, several of the mods and I discussed moving the subreddit to something more in line with the university's branding initiative. Of course we want input from everyone and want this to be as transparent as possible so we're going to use a poll.
In the past this sub has been chastised on Ragin Pagin and /r/Acadiana for having "too many L's". While some people on here may not care very much, there's a sizeable portion of the community that finds the ULL name to be disparaging. So moving the sub to another home seems like a halfway decent idea - hopefully to a sub name that every member of the university community can be proud of rather than put-off by.
Over the past several days the mods have managed to take over /r/agincajuns (for reference - the University of Tennessee uses /r/ockytop to take advantage of the reddit /r/ ) and we've also managed to take over /r/ragincajuns. So now we have a choice to make...
Please go through and rank which one you like. Feel free to campaign for your favorite in the comments section. We're going to go ahead and close this on Friday (unless for whatever reason we decide to let it go for another week).
Bonus points for funny comments in the "suggestions" box on the poll.
I'm getting closer and closer to starting my transfer to UL and I need a place to stay. I want student apartments because I don't really know anyone so the individual leases are attractive, plus I can't afford the dorms + meal plan but I still want to be in a dorm type environment.
I'm considering: The Quarters, Campus Crossings, and University House Acadiana. My budget right now is $550 max (I'd have to pick up a work study job+part time). So campus crossings is the leading candidate.
Any advice/opinions?
Scott Farmer will step into a teaching role at the university. Per the Vermillion, it looks like he will be teaching Legal Liabilities in Sports Link to tweet
I waited too late to get it and it turns out there's no ebook version and no store has it. Anyone got a copy of Power by Linda Hogan that they're done with that I can borrow?
Not sure how active this sub is but worth a shot.
I'm a nursing student applying for clinical next semester, and I need two more classes to reach 12 credits. I had a few ideas of classes I wanted to take, but unfortunately the times don't work out with Nurs 208 and 209, so I'm at a loss. And I already knocked out all of my electives and other required courses.
Anyone know of any fun courses? Interesting classes, great professors, or even just grade-boosters? I'm at a loss right now.
On Tuesday October 25th 2016, 43 year old Allison Greenhouse from Marksville, LA, mother of UL defensive back Kamar Greenhouse, lost her battle with a multitude of medical ailments. She was a house keeper at the Paragon Casino Resort for over 20 years and was the sole provider for all of her children. Kamar is the eldest of Allison’s four children and is now responsible for the funeral expenses, the medical expenses associated with her care in her final days, as well as the temporary housing, and related expenses.

It is a GoFund Me however, and therefore susceptible to scams, so be sure to independently verify before you donate. Geaux Cajuns!
So I was browsing around over on Ragin Pagin and came across an interesting post/comment. Apparently there's an effort to rename the field / stadium / tower for Coach Faulkinberry. Here's a quote from the poster over there:
There is an effort to name the Football Field, Tower, or stadium for Coach Faulkinberry which received some great support from former players (I do not know the value of the donations)
I suppose this is all rumors for now. Anyone else hear anything about this?
For those who don't know about Coach Faulkinberry, he played college football at Vanderbilt where he made the All-SEC Freshman Team, Sophmore Team, and was 2nd Team All SEC his Senior year. He was a 3rd Team All American. He became head coach at (then) USL in 1961 and was responsible for the name-change from the Bulldogs to the Ragin Cajuns in 1963. He won conference championships while at USL in 1965, 1968, and 1970. His 1970 team played in the Grantland Rice bowl and was 9-2 on the season. He was named conference coach of the year 4 times and was once named Louisiana Coach of the Year. He left UL in 1973 but later came back to help coach Jake Delhomme and Brandon Stokley for the 1997 NFL draft. He's currently got the most wins in UL football history with 66 and is tied with most years coaching at UL with Nelson Stokley (13). He was also responsible for leading an effort to get Cajun Field built and move the team from the aging McNaspy stadium.
