Hi! I'm unsure if this is acceptable to request exchanges on here but I'm looking for an original 7' Summer of Steroids Vinyl by TFB for my brother. He's been searching for months to find a seller and I want to surprise him for his birthday! It has the original The Beers performance and More than it Hurts. I would be ridiculously grateful if anyone is willing to part with a copy or knows someone/someplace that is. Please PM me if they are!

Anyway, for the Hometown Heroes exchange, I received an awesome record, Desert Noises' 27 Ways (here's the Discogs link). The band is from Utah, where /u/chrasstopher also happens to be from. He grew up with a few of these guys, and decided to share their music with me via vinyl.

I gotta say, I'm digging their sound. I've heard one of their songs, "Out of My Head," before. Here's a link to the music video. While that song is definitely worth a listen, the whole album fills up the room pretty well.

Hey everyone! I noticed the Exchanges & Boutiques Calendar doesn't have any new events coming up so I'm hoping to get some ideas going for some possible new events to get this sub hip and happening again.

My suggestion is an exchange where we send a record without knowing anything about the tastes of the person we are sending to. It could be a really interesting way to discover music that is new to you, but for those who aren't interested in a gamble this might not be too appealing :P

We could also do another Brown Bag Special like the first exchange but switch it from the 1970's to the 80's or 90's - I feel like more people would be satisfied with this

I've been trying to come up with some more creative themes but I'm pretty much stuck, so you have some ideas let us know! What do you guys think?

Many people have asked what exactly the Hometown Heroes exchange is. Simply put it's this: find a great local artist, buy their album and send it to your match! That really is all there is to it. Don't have a great local artist in your city? No problem, I bet the city next door does. That one doesn't either? That city sucks, find another one! That city sucks too? Pick someone from your state.

I wanted to ask this question of our users to see if you would be interested in this idea. We are considering setting up an email mailing list where users can sign up with their basic info (Reddit username and email address), and then prior to each exchange an email will be sent to mailing list notifying you that an exchange is coming up soon and to watch the sub.

The reason for this is because a number of people miss the signup period for each exchange, and ideally this would help alleviate the issue of forgetting when each exchange takes place. In a perfect world all of our users would be checking the sub daily, but the world isn't perfect and I think this would help.

So, what would guys think?

Edit: Ok, so it sounds like this is a done deal then. Once the current exchange wraps up in the next 1-2 weeks look for a post/email regarding signup for the mailing list. Thanks all!

Is the 7" Exchange still going to take place? The side-bar schedule says sign-ups should be this week but I haven't seen any posts about it lately which is a bummer since I was super pumped for this one!
